The OG firebreather has got some real nice stats. While it's physically frail, its high Speed and attacking stats more than make up for it. You start off really well with learning Fire Punch at an early level, so you have good STAB to go with your good Special and learn even more Fire moves from there, which is quite a nice change to how it usually goes. The only other Special moves you have are Thunderpunch and Psychic (seriously), so to round things off, go with a good Normal move, or even Dynamicpunch. Sure, there's good moves via breeding and you can even get a funky Hidden Power, but this is just the story mode, the fact that there's a number of options in combination with its high stats means it's already a better pick than most. Just watch out for them Rock and Ground moves.
