The orange coloured stepchild of the Pokemon universe, Raichu improves on Pikachu in basically every way. You keep Pikachu around until you have the level up moves you want, then you stick a stone up its butt and make it good. True, it's still a bit frail and doesn't have much to it aside from Electric and Normal moves, but it's pretty damn fast, can lay in the hurt and is pretty damn adorable to boot. The only Special moves you can use are STAB (and Thief, but I will never seriously suggest using this move for type coverage despite how many can learn it), but due to the equally good Attack, there's plenty of other coverage moves you can use as well, though that really boils down to Dynamicpunch and Iron Tail. Still, uh, better than nothing? Regardless, Raichu does what it do, so if you let it do, it'll do quite well.
