Chapter 7: Waterside Renvall

Chapter 7 is another short and straightforward one. The astute among you will notice that our good friend Colm has finally been allowed back on the field. This is only because I really want that Energy Ring, and he can barely steal it as is anyway (Colm has 13 speed, the mage has 12). Lyn will be immediately heading north to deal with our friends there, with Seth leading the charge east.

Nino gets first blood by picking off a soldier Seth weakened.

Okay, you've got this. Don't fuck this up.

YOU FUCKED IT UP, SON. Get. Some Goddamn. Speed.

Erk works on his avoid score a bit.

Starting to see more and more capped stats now. Lyn maxes speed by trading blows with the fighter.

Josh, meanwhile, continues to not max speed, but he does get more strength.

And now we're up to the point where he's actively one-rounding physical units instead of just mages. Now this is the Sacred Stones I remember.

Another fighter coming in to suicide against him gets Josh max skill.

With Nino's unfortunate miss, Josh and Lucius deal with the archer instead.

Neimi gets to demonstrate 1-2 range of the Beacon Bow. If it had more Mt than an Iron Bow, I might actually be inclined to use her as a sort of physical mage.

I don't want to aggro the Energy Ring mage until Colm is in position, so Seth hangs out here to draw over the mercs.

Another miss by Nino, so another spread of attacks from Colm, Neimi, and Lucius drop the fighter.

The ballistician finds Colm, and will continue to waste all his bolts missing him.

Nino and Lucius go to town on the merc that Seth weakened, and Lucius gets a shitty level for it.

Lyn finally finishes off the mage, and starts moving to rejoin the group.

Nino and Neimi go for a repeat, but Neimi misses. Colm picks up the slack for her.

Thank you kindly, sir.

Eirika immediately grabs it and burns a use. I contemplated giving her two of them, but we'll see how her next few levels go.

Guy heads north to deal with our now-empty ballista and his fighter buddy, and Seth gets in position to grab a soldier.

You are not making a very good case for "Best unit in the game" young man.

Here we go, time to roll the dice on Colm again.

Well look at that, that's actually a good level. A few more of those and you might even be worth using!

Guy eliminates the archer for a spectacularly shitty level, and the fighter is quick to follow.

Neimi makes up for her earlier failures by getting more speed.

And Eirika continues to not get strength.

If nothing else, I can always appreciate the hilarity of Neimi attacking another archer with the Beacon Bow.

And that leaves us with Murray. He's strong, fast, relatively tough, and has a boatload of HP. He always had excess resistance, so with the cavalier's much higher base Res, he already has it maxed. This means that Lucius can't even touch the guy, and Nino can do 3 damage with her Thunder tome. Physical damage is the way to go here.

Really, the best way to do this is throw Seth at him.

Now, all things equal, the AI will try and avoid a weapon triangle disadvantage where it can. This causes Murray to switch to his javelin to attack Seth (who has his Iron Lance equipped). Murray's problem is that he has 14 AS with the Steel Sword, and 13 with the Javelin. Seth has 17 AS. You see where I'm going with this.

After letting himself get doubled a couple times, Murray's on the ropes. Eirika does the honors and we're done here.
