Staring into your soul, Stantler isn't too bad. Sure, it's a fairly bland Normal type that doesn't really improve all too much, but it has decent attacking stats as well as high Speed, so it's a rare mixed attacker. You'll have Tackle for a little while and then you'll get Stomp at level 23, so it won't be long until you've got some good damage. While its high Special Attack is underutilized, especially for a Normal type, it at least gets Psychic via TM, which is very helpful. Add in some hard hitting physical moves and you've got a potent fighter here. It'll unfortunately get left behind as the game goes on and can't really take the powerful attacks with its general frailty, but hey, when you can use whatever you want, you can use this.
