...I'm running out of things to say here. Guess I should just start then.

The Epic of Gilgaluf - Chapter 10

Okay, first thing's first.

Vs. Catoblepas.
I still want to branch out a bit with Enkidu's commands (hence him having Doublecast), but I kinda needed him to spam Gold Needles so I didn't get to try it out.
: This thing again? ...This won't end well.
: Stop getting petrified! We've only got so many Gold Needles!

At least I can summon him now. (I forgot to screenshot the drop screen, but this is close enough, right?)

Didn't show the forest in the southeast of Catoblepas's area off in Mozart's run because there's no real benefit. Pretty sure this is Koko, incidentally.

The "can't ride females" thing just sounds like an excuse to not give you a chocobo in World 2, even though the placement should be enough justification- I mean, where would you even go? We're completely surrounded by mountains!

...Druids are dicks. You could theoretically steal Angel Rings from them, but you'll probably just get Encircled if you try.

Other Deaths: 8

Level 40? BIG MISTAKE. (Seriously, pretty much the only worse level I can think of is 60, which is vulnerable to ALL the level-based spells.)

Guess who's been hunting Metamorphs!

You don't wanna know how long it took waiting for this one to turn into an Enchanted Fan. Bastard kept alternating between Ifrit and a Wyvern.

...and just to spite me, the next one I meet turns into one first thing.

Accumulating a few more of these, in case I want to break them for Holy. (At least, I'm pretty sure that's a thing...)

: Hey look, it's Grandpa!
:
: No, seriously, that's my grandfather!
: Uhhh...
: No, I'm not adopted.
:
: Yes, I mean biologically.
:
: Don't think about it too hard.

: Hi Grandpa!
: Oh, hello Enkidu. I needed to talk to you about something. You too, Galuf.
: And he doesn't even object to it...
: Why would I? It's true.

: Take this stick, go to the Forest of Moore, and find out what Exdeath wants there. Any questions?
: Why am I not a turtle?
: ...Any questions I know the answer to?
: Only question I can think of right now is "when will things start making sense again?"
: Never, obviously.

Off to Moore now. New armor bought: 2 Diamond Shields, a Diamond Helm and Armor for Galuf, and a Tiger Mask and Diamond Plate for Enkidu. Old stuff sold: 3 Golden Shields (I must've picked another one up as a drop somewhere...), a Golden Helm, the Green Beret I've had since World 1, a Wizard's Hat, a Ninja Suit, some Golden Armor, and a spare Reflect Ring.

I buy both of these, too, trading in my unused Killer Bow.

New spells. Been a while. Not sure if I'll ever get around to using them, though. Kinda like the various spells I've already got.

: Open says me!
: Steal my lines again and I'll grab that stick and whack you over the head with it!

And shortly after entering I learn how to shrink stuff with Blue Magic. Kinda redundant with the Mini spell, but oh well.

Methinks I'm becoming over-reliant on Aqua Breath for dealing with trash mobs... (This is still on the first screen, for the record. Yes, I exhausted Galuf's MP before reaching the second section.)

Well, if I'm gonna play that way, then I'm gonna go get the supplies to sustain myself before moving on. Oh, and take a nap, since I'm in the Inn anyway.

At least Imps can be dealt with more economically, thanks to being level 36.

Hope I don't roll this one too often. Not too fond of unreliable weapons; if something has really low minimum damage relative to its maximum I don't want it.

: Wait, so his only interest was in luring us here for a funeral pyre?
: Looks that way.

But of course. I put it on Enkidu (for a change in my routine of "the best gear goes to Galuf").

Funny how I was almost standing right on top of it. Wonder what would've happened if I'd been standing exactly one space down and right... Probably nothing, but games do funny things sometimes.

Quick recharge after my Aqua Breath spamming all forest long. Always a good thing.

And Gilgaluf adds a flaming sword to his already-versatile (if unpredictable) arsenal.

After a quick trip out of the wreckage to save, I get ready to fight the boss. (Incidentally: You guys have no idea how tempting it is to throw a Ribbon on Galuf despite my previously-unmentioned resolution to only use natural armor, meaning stuff I'd be able to equip without hacking.)

Vs. ...something.
Of course we all know what these are by now, but since the game doesn't label them I won't either (outside the video text). Also, since I think it'd be a good idea to mention when I remove the Genji Gloves for something else I consider important for a battle: Galuf's using a Flame Ring here. And yes, the pogo-stick impression is the only way Galuf can hit these guys with a Blood Sword (I calculate the hit chance of a regular attack to be something along the lines of -12%, assuming there's no minimum accuracy), but with that damage output AND free healing I don't think that's too much of a drawback. Kinda frustrating how Enkidu blocked so many Firagas that I had to use some Phoenix Downs on him, though (HEY, STUPID! YOU'RE WEARING A FLAME RING FOR A REASON!). If I'd had to rerecord a second time I would've taken the Aegis Shield off so he wouldn't slow me down that way again. (Incidentally, I bet you can find the "wait, what am I DOING?" moment I have partway through.)
: I don't like this sword. It's unwieldy.
: Three words, pal: Death From Above!

Boss Deaths: 0
Total Boss Deaths: 5
Weapons Used On Boss: Blood Sword (out of curiosity, is it actually possible to commit suicide using this? And no, Goblin Punch and Throw don't count)
Other Deaths: 8
Rerecords Due To Length: 1 (if it was around 18 minutes I'd just split it in half or something, but 15:07-ish? Screw that)

Followed by Gilgaluf beating up Exdeath a bit.
Since this is basically both a cutscene and a continuation of the above, I won't bother changing Galuf's weapon. (I'm not 100% sure, but I think I might've actually been close to killing him outright instead of the cutscene win... How many HP does he have?)
: Still unwieldy.
: DIIIEEE!!!
: No thanks. FLARE TIME!

: I'm not dead!
: You sure about that? I mean, you got nuked pretty thoroughly there...

It wouldn't be a Gilgaluf run without Gilgaluf, so I hack him back into my party (as I have been planning to do from the beginning). For narrative purposes, Krile's basically just tagging along for some inexplicable reason. Or maybe heading back to Bal or something, I dunno.
: I feel fine!
: Huh. Genuinely not dead. Kinda surprised, to be honest.

Okay, update over. Finishing World 2 next time.

Current weapon list: Knife, Main Gauche, Dancing Dagger, Air Knife, Kodachi, Ancient Sword, Sleep Blade, Great Sword, Flametongue, Blood Sword, Spear, Javelin, Death Sickle, Gaia Hammer, Wind Slash, Flame Rod, Frost Rod, Thunder Rod, Poison Rod, Healing Staff, Staff of Light, Morning Star, Elven Bow, Lamia's Harp, Blitz Whip, Diamond Bell, Moonring Blade
Current weapon total: 27

Next time: Gil Turtle, then Exdeath's Castle (again)!
: I think I'll go for a walk!
: All right, we get the picture! Now stop quoting Monty Python before someone decides to fix your not-deadness!
: But I like Monty Python...
