Gotta say, things're going a lot better than I expected when I came back.

The Epic of Gilgaluf - Chapter 12

So! World 3. (Amazingly enough...) Off to Tycoon Castle again, for a bit of Plot.

: And nothing of value was lost.
: I dunno, I'd rather have some eye candy around.
: But don't they spend all their time as statues?
: Better than nothing.

Okay, turns out things're a LITTLE more complicated than "turn Krile into Galuf" from here on... Since Galuf left my party for a second here (explanation: FF5 treats Galuf and Krile as the same character for purposes of party manipulation, and Krile is supposed to briefly leave the party for a scene at this point), he came back as Krile (and thus I had to reuse my Galuf-ification code; the reason he turned back into Krile is a bit beyond my ability to explain coherently, though at least I more or less understand it). I'll probably need to use it about two or three more times later (once for Fork Tower, possibly once for its bosses, once afterwards).

Incidentally, I tested before, and character experience and job progress are stored by slot, rather than by character (since the game doesn't need to store large numbers of party members due to you never having more than four at a time), so those of you who want to make fun of the Single Character Challenge by turning everyone into Bartz or something can give each one a different role in your party. (I'm sure there's SOMEONE out there who's pulled this, or wants to do so...)

It's official (to the point of being canonical): Faris is more attractive than Lenna. Just in case anyone had any doubts. (Don't say anything about this bit, please. I'd rather not have the thread devolve into a shipping war or other argument of preferences, especially not when I'm this close to finishing.)
: ...What kind of sound was that? A vomiting wolf?
: Gee, thanks, I really needed that mental image...

: ...Seriously?
: I'd NEVER be able to sit through THAT much formality! I'm outta here!
: You're not the only one.
: Why do they have to be so excessive?

FORESHADOWING! (Not that it'll take long, but still.)

Grab my chocobo real quick, and off I go!

Vs. Antlion.
I can't honestly say this boss serves any real narrative purpose (and no gameplay purpose at all other than annoying the player), so I'm opting to just get it over with by giving Enkidu !Finisher. Don't worry, this is a one-time thing.
: Great, it's the useless stick again.
: What, you mean the one where even punching doesn't work?
: That's the one.
: Alright, I got this.
: ...You're taking too long. *WHACK!*
: ...I feel better now, actually. Now I understand why that thing doesn't hurt monsters.

Boss Deaths: 0
Total Boss Deaths: 5
Weapons Used On Boss: Healing Staff (oh, boy...)
Other Deaths: 8

Told ya Goblin Punch doesn't work when you're using the Healing Staff.

Exdeath stows away in Krile. DON'T TELL! IT'S A SECRET TO EVERYBODY!

How many of you caught the Easter egg I put here in Mozart's run?

: Oh, not again...
: It's not a barrier this time, but I'm still gonna surf it!

: ...Ow.
: We still need to practice the dismount.
: You're still overruled.
: Outvoted, too.
:

Tablets, spells, et cetera.
: To the pyramid!
: Nah, let's look around first. I think Moore's nearby.

Song. Handiness.

: Kinda out of date there, buddy.

Excalipunch 1.0. (I think the real Excalibur has a bit more attack power, but don't hold me to that.)

: Told ya we were near Moore.
: How the hell did ya figure that out, anyway?
: Just a hunch.

: I keep telling you, I'm right here!

Galuf's Excalipunch on equal-levelled enemies hits the damage cap, for the record.

I've been wondering: Where'd your World 2 submarine go, anyway? I mean, most people leave it right here, right?

When I head into Moore Village, I'm given a choice between the Chicken Knife (which, as we all know, powers up when you run away)...

...and the Brave Blade (which starts at its maximum, but gets weaker as you retreat. Unless you mod, at least). Now, given the rules of my challenge you'd expect me to go for the Brave Blade, right?

You'd be half right: I take both (one admittedly obtained through inventory editing, but still). Honestly, considering Gilgaluf, this was probably inevitable.

After selling off the Elven Bow for being redundant due to the Hayate Bow's presence, I head to the pyramid (and camp outside to regain some of the MP I used blasting away randoms).

Gargoyles. Not worth considering as bosses (partly due to there being four encounters, partly due to two of these killing them, one of which I've already applied before this screenshot).
: The ancients weren't very good at security, were they?
: Once again: YOUR HEAD ASPLODE.

Well, now I can give these to both my guys if it's ever required.

SUBTLETY!!! (I'm not very good at it.)

It's different, at least.

Mecha Head hunting goes fast with Thundaga and a max-power Brave Blade.

Didn't screenshot getting these since I wasn't sure I'd use them, but turns out they're better than Diamond stuff. Huh. (I'm again resisting the urge to give Galuf nonstandard armor due to this being that much better...)

Because I can, that's why. (Sekhmet's too weak to bother with the whole boss routine, and the rewards- or lack thereof- agree.)

: Ooooo, sparkly!

I don't really expect to use this (like most of my other stuff), but it's there if I want it at least.

Tablet get!

Getting screenshot-happy again, so I'll leave off here and do Mel next time. Yes, I only fought one boss. Yes, starting my updates with bosses is apparently becoming a trend.
