Final Fantasy Flash RPG

General is pretty much a personal blog, Requests are the author asking for stuff, and Credits are, well, credits. This game was done by a guy named Amps.

Mog: Use the arrows to move. Remember, you'll only regain HP when you level up so be careful! Kupo!

We have four characters to choose from, each with their own unique tactics.

I'll show them all off later, but for now let's start with Kain.

All the music is FF6 MIDIs, so there you go.

At the bottom, you have your level and EXP, with a maximum of L3/3000 EXP. I'll be cropping it out of the rest of the screenshots since the space is wasted otherwise.

Because this is a flash game, attempting to go to Narshe has us fight Mario.

Fortunately, nothing can really scratch us.

Kain, of course, has Fight and Jump. No items, no running away. He's also fast, as the ATB meter will be 3/4 full after each turn.

Then Mario gives us a blue thing and locks the entrance.

This fight is entirely optional, of course. Let's try the house now.

OLDMAN: Defeat me in battle and I will share with you a secret of this town....

Plot battle.

OLDMAN: This one shall do...

OLDMAN: ....but one by one, its inhabitants disappeared. Narshe is now the deserted town you see before you...

OLDMAN: Press "o" to open the hidden switch at the cave entrance and seek out this monster! Only when you vanquish it will the people of Narshe return.

Right. Go to the fake entrance, press o.

After a random encounter, of course.

Jump is simply a curson going up and down continuously until you select one. I assume High = More damage, but I didn't bother experimenting for reasons.

Next is a few caves.

Only enemy here is Magroader, which is weak.

Also, Kain is L2 here. When you gain a level, you recover all HP. With one exception, this is the only way to do so. However, when Kain hits L2, he goes from 3000HP to 1200HP. Yes, you lose HP when you level up. Go figure.

See that shadow? He's our first boss.

....the monster?

Well, it is a flash game.

Triple Warn actually hits three times. Nostalgic yet? No?

Pretty trivial fight.

Can't go back this way, so all that's left to do is grind to L3 to restore HP and go back to the Old Man.

L3 brings us to 2000HP. Levels also boost attack a good bit.

????: I....am....

Gasp!

AOL-Broadband is the final boss of Final Fantasy Flash RPG.

Unlike every single other enemy in the game, he doesn't fuck around.

He alternates between a powerful regular attack and a slightly-more-powerful meteor attack.

The strategy is to hit him until he dies.

AOL Broadband: My powers?? Have I exceeded my monthly bandwidth limit?

And with that, we won! Hooray!

But why stop there? We've got four characters, so that's four times the fun! Let's try them out!

Let's try out Cloud Strife next!

Cloud's only got access to Fight. On the bright side, he can attack twice.

On the downside, he has 0HP and dies instantly to any enemy attack.

Like so. Needless to say, I didn't have much luck playing as Cloud.

So let's try Terra!

Terra actually has variety! She starts with Fire and learns a new spell each level.

MP doesn't exist, so you can spam magic as much as you want. Fire will outdo her physical output until L3.

Let's try sequence-breaking by not talking to the old man!

L2 knocks Terra down to 800HP, but gives her Ice.

Ice is stronger, and will outdo even her L3 attack.

Since she has such little HP, I grind Terra up to L3 before taking on AIM.

L3, Terra has a measly 1200HP. To make up for it, though, she has Cure, which restores her HP to max. Thus she's effectively immortal.

Anyway, after beating AIM, the old man will fight you like it's still the beginning of the game.

Then, instead of going into the Narshe backstory, he simply morphs to AOL Broadband instead. Nice to see the author planned for this in advance (probably)!

Lengthier battle since Terra does less damage than Kain and has to cast Cure a lot, but it's still doable.

Finally, Sephiroth.

His only command is attack, though he attacks twice. Unlike Kain and Terra, his ATB gauge resets at the beginning, so he takes longer to attack. I'm not going to show it off, but my first time through I did beat the game with him, so the game's pretty well-balanced if you know how the game works (and aren't playing as Cloud).

That's it for Final Fantasy Flash RPG!
