Update 15 ? Bountiful

Well, we're about done in Vegas for now. Let's go check some things out.

First off, let's see if Ringo got here alright.

Man has he just been staring at the gates ever since he got back or something?

He pays up the remaining 150 caps, and I promptly ignore him in favor of talking to a merchant.

I will want these later on.

Head in the office, talk to the lady in charge so we can get some other quests goin'. Which will not be completed for some time for reasons you will see soon.

I'm looking for work.

I'm afraid we have no current openings for caravaneers or guards, but I'm in need of a runner.

I'll take it. What do I need to do?

As you can see from the quest log updating, this is (somehow) related to Cass's quest.

We head out and follow the Vegas wall.

I like that it's a thing, you can look and see how ramshackle it is.

Just keep followin', arrive at Camp McCarran, ignore the shit out of it, head out westward.

Fiend territory.

I love sniping things with an anti-materiel rifle

A named guy!

And we can take his head! (This is for a quest. You have to not shoot him in the head!)

This door heads into the South Vegas Ruins. We'll head in later. And kill Fiends.

Hittin' another named Fiend with the anti-materiel rifle from a distance

A named dog.

This is one of the options for fixing up Rex. It is probably the worst option, making him move 50% faster (the other two will give him +25 attack power or +10 DT)

Take Violet's head too.

Oh, and I start working on a GRA challenge ? the Mysterious Magnum counts, so killin' Fiends with it is fair game.

Last one. He also has the unique golf club, but it's 100% broken because I shot it.

Next up, we head back to Camp McCarran to talk to Major Dhatri (who is easiest to find on your first trip in, I've found) (and who also has a serious Droopy Dog thing going on)

You're having trouble with the Fiends?

Damn right I am. And I'm paying bounties. I've got three Fiends I wand dead, and I don't give a goddamn how it gets done. That sound like something that interests you?

Yes, it does.

Good. That's damn good. I figure it's about time we got lucky out here, so maybe you can snuff one of these maniacs.

I have Violet's head.

Goddammit. That's Violet, all right. You've made me one happy son of a bitch, you know that?

Actually, I have another head. Here's Driver Nephi.

Well, well, well. Driver Nephi. Nothing to say, you son of a bitch? No tips on my golf swing?

Last one, Cook-cook.

If that's true, that'd be the last of them... Yeah, that's Cook-cook. Did he always smell like this? Even before he was dead? And the Fiends let this guy touch their food? Well... this is payback for at least one of my troopers. She'll be glad to know he's dead. Here's your caps.

Wish I had a few grunts as good as you. Damn good working with you.

I pick up Jury Rigging this level. This is another perk that is a very popular Fallout 3 mod! You can repair items with similar items!

It does have the same problem Fallout 3 mods did, in that you can accidentally destroy a unique variant on an item this way. Be careful when repairing is all I have to say on this possibility. It's nowhere near as essential as a cross-repair mod is for Fallout 3, since even without Jury Rigging you can repair a unique variant with its common version ? i.e. Ratslayer can always be repaired with any old varmint rifle. It does make some things (mostly my anti-materiel rifle) easier to keep in top shape though so I'll take it.

Anyways, I head out to kill some more Fiends!

There is an old sign factory which isn't really tied to much of anything important, and is full of traps:

and a named Fiend who serves absolutely no purpose except to be shot in the face:

Also there's a Bumper Sword for melee characters I guess.

The South Vegas Ruins also have the entrance to Vault 3

(I'm ignoring it for now because I want to get through a certain quest involving it before I revengemurder all of the Fiends)

I wander outside a bit more and finish off White Line Nightmare.

I return to Vegas and head out south, discovering this ruined farmhouse.

Time to shoot some giant ants.

It's a much shorter ant dungeon than the ones in Fallout 3 ? this is just a straight shot to this point. Note the giant ovipositor thing the ant queen there has.

Using an explosive round for the anti-materiel rifle I manage to get a sneak attack crit off on the queen and the only other ant present and feel pretty cool.

There is also, uh, no real point to that except fuck giant ants.

I move on and to the southwest.

To REPCONN!

The corpses celebrate my arrival by just kind of flopping down and ragdolling a bit when I enter.

Let's get through this door!

And hack a different terminal IMMEDIATELY on the other side! That's REPCONN HQ's gimmick ? you need to do some things to not trip security robots everywhere. If that's your thing. First floor is easy, we just need to add our face to the database.

Plenty of energy weapons ammo around here, too!

These little dudes are the things that will warn you and call security on you.

If you have 100 lockpicking (or science) you can just bypass this entire place and go straight to the big reward.

I don't though.

Second floor face access is real close, and an easy lock. Right next to it is a copy of Nikola Tesla and You for a free +3 energy weapons

Of course this fucker don't care about facial databases, he wants cards!

There's a second floor card just layin' around.

We can also hack a Hard computer and get a badge for executive clearance!

Up on the third floor, we find some dead Brotherhood of Steel paladins who probably triggered security like jerks.

Gaaahhh what was the point of the card you ass-

Bwahaha.

What a great stat check.

Anyway, wander around, there's a different door down to the second floor ? we want this.

Because there's a different door back to the FIRST floor, too.

An area that suffered some convenient structural damage to get us on the other side of that door!

Oh boy. Unique variant on the plasma rifle!

We can easily get out of here! Shit yes!
