Mini-update 5 -
Extras on the path
& Zurai's history recap

--------------------------

You may notice in some of the screenshots, Fighter is now called "Yuu" as in 'You', my old Chaos route buddy in scenario 10-12 - this is so I could underlevel Aaron and make it possible for Imelda to kill him. I waited so long for her to try and fail to kill him with our current team - this is what I get for using the level select for this purpose, I guess.

Scenario 8 - Fun times with bridges

After Turn 13:

Do it quicker! The enemy is stronger than I anticipated.

At the start of Turn 15:

Watch out for those airborne units... This is where maneuverability will work most in their favour. We've got to stop their leader.

At the end of Turn 15:

All right, hurry up!

At the start of Turn 17:

This is our last chance to break through! Everyone, charge!

This will be the decisive blow! Concentrate all attacks on their commanders!

At the end of Turn 18:

Yes, Sir! Preparations are complete! We're ready to drop the bridge!

All right then, proceed!

Yes, Sir!

I'm happy they animated the bridge collapsing rather then just straight 'game over'-ing us. Now let's watch an old man die to the she-devil Imelda.

Scenario 9 - Bitches in britches

At the end of Turn 11:

Right on time... Now, please deal with this redheaded whelp.

Yes, Sir!

On 's turn to move:

At the end of Turn 12 - Imelda reaches the fort:

When the first Sister dies after like fucking forever:

When Aaron dies at Turn 21:

Sir Aaron! Are you okay? We're here to help! Please fall back for now!

Ugh, sorry...

When the last Sister dies 3 turns later (Imelda needs to get her shit together):

Scenario 10 - A waste of time

Well I tested it out and none of the dialogue changes if you kill Vargas before killing Zorum or anyone else. Blargh.

Scenario 11 - Holy Blade, Smholy Shade

When Leon gets close to the Langrisser altar:

Don't get in my way! Langrisser is mine!

Charge!

Well then, I'll just have to try and stop you!

When Leon gets really close (1 turn away) to the Langrisser altar:

Impossible!? How is Leon able to unsheathe Langrisser? It looks like we have a Descendant of Light among our ranks!

I don't understand, either. Egbert once told me I was a Descendant of Light. If that sorceress over there saw my weapon, she might have known this too...

That blade...!? The sword you carry looks like the one Dieh?rte used while fighting the demons hundreds of years ago!

Hmmm... How did Egbert know about this.

And if my memory is not mistaken... The sword you carry was used by the King of Elthlead, Sieghart's half-brother, in ancient times.

This makes no sense when compared to the rest of the Langrisser series, I'll explain the only possible situation this could work without spoilers.

We know Sieghart was the founder and first king of Elthlead who then bonded with Langrisser ergo, he can't be King anymore. Without spoiling anything, I can tell you Sieghart sired an heir. Now, unless one of Dieh?rte's (as he was in the generation after Sieghart's) uncles was also a brother-in-law of Sieghart's who took over as King of Elthlead after Sieghart became Langrisser... it's also possible that Sieghart's father sired sons with Dieh?rte's ancestors hence the half-brother thing rather then brother-in-law... but regardless, then what about Sieghart's son aka next in the line of succession!?

I guess if that son had a regent until he reached majority this could all fit together. Your theory is probably as good as mine but I'd like to hear them, if you've got one. Maybe I'm just overthinking this one... Anyway, back to the friendly banter.

Then that means Leon is a Descendant of Light and can take Langrisser?

That's quite incredible. First, I'll defeat you and then I'll take Langrisser!

Really... Then we can't let the Empire take Langrisser!

I will say the same thing about you. Our Empire needs the Holy Blade. We will not fail.

When Leon gets to Langrisser:

(CC: 54)

I just... I just don't know what the hell is going on. He clearly took it out from the altar...

Wait, Leon!

Farewell!

Scenario 12 -A waste of time 2: the Procrastinating

Unfortunately, we got all the optional dialogue already as L?na doesn't give us anything we haven't seen already - that is, I replayed the whole thing and killed Leon first...

Scenario 13 - Alternate Light Path

When killing Bernhardt...

(CC: 56)

As I would expect from the Descendants of Light! But this time I was unprepared. Next time will be different. Farewell, fools!

Strange... Where could Alhazard be?

Jessica then mentions Velzeria and the rest is as it was before. Off to Velzeria again!

Now a pretty decent plot summary of Warsong (Langrisser I) courtesy of Zurai.

quote:

Zurai posted:

You start off as Ledin (Garret), the prince of Baldea (Baltia). The castle comes under attack from the Dalsis Empire. Ledin flees with his bodyguard Volkoff (Baldarov) while his father the King, Jessica (the same one, named Calais in the English version), a Crocodile Knight (who looks just like Lester, but is named Taylor (Tiberon)), a commander named Namu (Sabra), and IIRC a couple random commanders (Thorn, Albert) defend against superior forces.

Ledin is ambushed by random bandits on the road to an ally's lands and Volkoff dies catching an arrow for you, but does manage to link up with the ally (the Salrath dukedom & Hawking, the duke) as well as the game's requisite sacred maiden (Chris). Before he can rally the troops and go back to lift the siege of Baldea, Namu shows up and says the castle's fallen. Instead they all set out to take the castle back. On the way they're ambushed by monsters, completely surprising everyone because WTF are these things?

When Ledin gets back to Baldea, it's in ruins and the sacred treasure Warsong (Langrisser) has been taken back to the Emperor (Digos). The prince sets out to attack the Dalsis Empire with his ragtag band, adding a few random dudes along the way and also fighting more and stronger monsters more frequently. The monsters also attack the Empire's troops, so it's not something they're doing.

Eventually Ledin reaches the Imperial capital and kills the Emperor, reclaiming Warsong, but he finds out that the monsters are coming from another continent (Velzeria) and that an ancient evil god, Chaos, is being revived there. So, off he goes. More fighting, the Imperial horse general (Xeld) who has been Ledin's bane so far joins up as a kickass dragon knight (Lance Kalxath), they fight and eventually Ledin finds the fortress where B?ser is resurrecting Chaos, kills B?ser, then kills Chaos.

As it's dying, Chaos warns Ledin that Chaos was created by the world itself to counteract Order and that both are necessary to prevent the world from being destroyed, and says that as long as humans fight each other, Chaos will continue to be revived. Ledin takes Chris as his wife, with all their allies they revive the Baldean Kingdom and eventually become ancestors of Fighter (Erwin). Namu goes off on a journey to improve her swordmanship and meets up with Lance, who managed to survive, and together they found the Kalxath Kingdom. El Sallia has peace for 100 years and at some point, Baldea falls apart into ruins we raided in Scenario 11.

Check the character bios for some more history on those ancestors and a little bit more about Chaos.
