Mirror Light Path Part 3
All the Light paths
converge in the end

--------------------------

It's the exact same map as in Scenario 17 real world but is also the same for both split paths. There might be some dialogue changes which I'll post up as they arise.

Scenario 18A/B - Key to the Seal Redux

The companions had failed... The seal on Alhazard was broken. However, to the surprise of all, Bernhardt, once thought dead, returned to snatch Alhazard away from B?ser. With a fully-powered Alhazard in hand, the Empire set out at once to conquer the remainder of the continent. With Langrisser still not having achieved its full power dark forces ravaged the land - completely unchecked. As the sorcery of B?ser wore off L?na and Liana, the Descendants of Light discovered a new hope. The maidens knew of a method to unleash the full potential of the Dispeller of Darkness. The key to releasing Langrisser's full power was the Holy Rod, an instrument of Lushiris located in the distant ruins of Elrad.

The map and plan are exactly the same, though some of the enemy commanders are a level or two higher. Also, as it turns out the Holy Rod is randomly designated one of those 4 rooms as it's location for the map. So that's a nice little thing to note. Also, I didn't note this in the real world update but whomever grabs it has it forced into their weapon equipment slot. This doesn't matter for the enemy as they have no weapons but for us, it could mean a significant loss
of AT if we don't plan around it. Usually though, it's not a big deal since you can just isolate and surround the guy holding the rod and then finish him at the end. Anyhoo, this map is basically the same so I'll be giving the bare bones.

So we've taken out the right side's cavalry whilst the left side prepares to take them out next turn. Aaron & Scott are charging up the middle, since I want the old man to do well now, given our endings previously obtained.

Rohga finds the rod on his first try, lucky bastard. We take an Earthquake on the left side and easily weather a ballista barrage with Fighter's superior Phalanxes. A meteor hits the right side and for some reason, their ranged fire focuses on our much more defensive Angels then the weakened Dragoons... unit affinities, I suppose.

That's just a normal Liana meteor - I had forgotten to equip her with items so she's staying in the back lines for this fight.

So Liana's going to Meteor again and clean up those Ballista for some sweet EXP, might even try to get her a commander by lowering their HP to 1-2. Everything else is going smoothly and the Aaron/Scott combo works better then expected! We get Meteor'd on the left side and some potshots occur but nothing serious.

BOOM! Only the two commanders remain on the left side at low health whilst the right side is completely vanquished. I equipped Cherie with a Rune Stone and turned her into a Silver Knight so that she can become a Unicorn Knight! The middle remains the only interesting area as Aaron has taken out the General and Scott goes all in.

Well, it's coming to an end now. Just a matter of time.

Hi Leon! I was ready for you, you sneaky little man. Fireball, horse, angel, sword - it works wonders on him.

Fighter, I will pay you back for this!

So in an interesting note, in spite of the fact Rohga isn't dead and still holds the Holy Rod, killing Leon is an insta-win condition and the scenario clears straight after doing so. Lana appears as a green NPC and says the exact same thing as before. During the post-unsealing Langrisser peptalk Aaron adds this point:

I'm up for the challenge!

And that's it. Despite the fact, that Rohga isn't dead and still holds the Holy Rod, the game will treat him as such and Langrisser is unsealed again. And now we reach a point of divergence again - for this Aaron run, Scenario 19 is Revenge! again with some minor changes in enemy composition whilst if we weren't to pursue Sonya in the real world Light path, we'd diverge into Strongest Knights of the Land aka Leon's Last Stand. Interestingly, Leon's forces gain an extra flier unit but otherwise aside from being slightly lower leveled are the exact same. Well then let's diverge, again skipping through them unless something new happens.

Scenario 19A - Revenge 2: It's a Cyclical Thing!

It's exactly the same, although since we didn't kill Rohga and obtain the Holy Rod, it isn't in our equipment and I feel that's a real cheap shot from the game. Oh well, at least breezing through Sonya's level isn't too difficult since her forces gang up on her for shits and giggles.

Since Esto & Osto are dead, Sonya's traitors dialogue are replaced by a Succubus and the same Vampire Lord.

You filthy halfie bitch! Rararaaaa~

How interesting!

Later on...

Crush, Kill, Destroy... That is the will of our dead overlord...

Like, OMG guys! I thought we were friends... or at least frenemies!

We could never be frenemies with one such as you. You are tainted with the putrid stench of humanity! Because of this, you will be disposed of!

Also, Hein says "What the hell, etc." this time rather then Fighter. A mix-up perhaps? Since this Succubus is new, here's her death quote.

Ugh, strong...

And it's all basically the same as before though from now until the end of the game I'm going to try to let Aaron finish off every boss on this path. Give the ol' codger some of his glory days back since we forced him onto the team and all.

And that's all that changes - Sonya gives the same death speech but is now dead dead as far as the game is concerned. No mission wherein she tries to summon Chaos, but that's okay we still have plenty of Aaron to go round. And he's a goddamn Hero now, so ain't nobody gonna stop him now.

Scenario 19B - Leon's Last Stand 2: The Last Stand-ening

The same map as last time but with one extra unit of fliers next to the other up top. Still pretty easy though and nothing new except right at the end. After killing Laird, I take out Leon and this gem of a new generic mugshot pops up. I think this is meant to be a placeholder for Laird since these are normally his lines.

But then we get this gem after which I don't think is an original Laird line...

Almost sounds like mutiny/revolt, doesn't it? Just a funny thing I've never seen before. Other then that, that's all for this one, very straight forward and the same map as in the Real World. It's exactly the same and thus, isn't worthy of mention beyond the new mugshot. Let's move on already.

Scenario 20A - Leon... still standing in there

Exact same scenario as in the Real World and mostly from what I've seen so far, the game avoids giving Aaron lines so that it doesn't matter if he is here or not. I kill Leon first so that Laird can have a little bit more screen time.

Blargh! I'm hurt and you're a better soldier then me!

Leon! Please retreat!

Even from death's door, I will not retreat!

No way! If Leon is killed, who will protect the Empire of tomorrow?

That's right! This place is ours for the taking!

You... all...

Don't worry. At least we can delay them. In the meantime, please take care of your wounds!

... I understand. I'm counting on you.

Take care... Take care of our beloved Empire.

Don't die on me...

Yes, Sir!

Laird's death speech remains the same however and the map is easily cleared. Cherie gets up to her tier 3 class and whilst I want to go Unicorn Knight, seeing that gif of her Princess beating Bernhardt has inspired me to get her up to Princess. So let some offscreen grinding commence! Then the final battle of the Mirror Light Path can commence! Here's the Unicorn Knight's class change stats:

Scenario 20B - Et tu, Fighter?

Exact same preamble as last time even though this isn't the final scenario of the game this time around. Exact same map and Bernhardt and his forces has the same stats as before. I'm guessing because its the second-last mission they figured the strength could be the same. Still same general idea - Turn Undead those Spectres and take out all the mages ASAP.

One notable change - the right Vampire Lord has Witches instead of Archdemons and thus, is both easier to defeat and more annoying at the same time. New death speech from Egbert though.

Egbert, it's quite all right. Please, fall back.

But Your Majesty... We are clearly at a disadvantage, and I have one teleportation spell left. Why don't you escape with me?

Egbert, I will never retreat, no matter what the situation. I have the power of a god! My ability is at its height. If someone wields the strength to defeat me now, then I can never succeed. Here, this day, I will face my fate. Egbert, please retreat... You can't fight with your injuries.

I'm so sorry. Best of luck...

Egbert teleports away...

Ha! I'll never run away! Come here and fight!

One other change to our foes though, is that Bernhardt seems to not know Meteor anymore, instead he casts Fireball which is a reprieve to our forces. If L?na attacks Leon...

Leon... If you must fight, then I will be the one to put you to rest...

Misery is a law of the battlefield. There are times when even brothers must cross swords...

Leon gets taken out in the very next move but no special dialogue beyond what just happened. Time to finish off Bernhardt once more.

Same deal, Bernhardt allows Alhazard power to run wild and we obtain Alhazard... heh heh heh... Egbert survives though even though the Kaiser and Leon get sucked into the void. There's a new after-map scene though.

Leon...

After this long fight, all that remains is this - Alhazard. What a tragic war this has been...

Hmmm, does a competent ruler require strength...?

That's why you mustn't use the power of darkness. From the beginning, darkness has been the enemy of humanity.

Alhazard was forged from people's lust for power.

But now, the battle is over.

Now, let's put a stop to this war.

Arrrgh...! My head-! The pain!

Liana? What's wrong?

Anger... Sadness... Hatred! It comes to me!

Liana? What's the matter!? Liana! Liaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaa!!

Everyone, be careful. A great aura of evil is... I have a bad feeling about this, Fighter.

Sonya teleports in...

Alhazard is mine at last! Ha ha ha... Now I can revive Chaos! Now, I have the power I've wished for.

Sonya!

With this, I can destroy humans and the world!

Let's hurry! If we track the evil flowing from Alhazard, we can find her hideout!

Okay! Hurry and guide us!

Scenario 21A - Kill the Emperor, marry bitches, get riches... Fighter 4 lyfe!

And now we have a Princess Cherie, who is stronger then Bernhardt and primed to kill him 1v1. The start of the mission is the same as last time and so we move straight through to Cherie's opening attack on Bernhardt.

Prepare yourself, Bernhardt! There will be no sunrise for you this morning!

Protip, for making the final fight against Bernhardt easier - bring someone who knows Meteor, like my Liana in this playthrough and target the throne he sits on.

From a 40% terrain bonus to 5% - also, if you meteor a plains tile it goes from 0% to 5%. The More You Know~

Alhazard was never meant to be reawakened... We must seal its power for good!

In that case, you must defeat me!

Her Ballista do nothing... so Cherie's up. Full HP, hopefully her first strike will result in victory.

Otherwise the exact same death speech and ending occurs but with one major change, Aaron will get an ending! Also, there are some new ending text for the other characters - starting with Hein.

After the war ended, Hein decided to tour the continent and polish up on his magic. While travelling, Hein acquired vast amounts of knowledge. One can scarcely imagine how powerful he has become. It was there where he began researching spells that were safe and easy for novices to cast. Hein created a book. Hein's book became an instant success, and he enjoyed a comfortable living on his profits. Magic for All, his book, made the lives of others a little easier due to the cantrips it taught. Thanked by many, Hein became a very popular Wizard amongst civilians and inspired many boys and girls to study magic.

However, it has not been confirmed whether or not the warrior was Cherie.

A couple of years later... Due to Keith's vigorous plans, the monsters in Kalxath were almost wiped out entirely.

Unlocked new title for Keith: Genocidal Manic.

With his blood surging in his veins, Lester attacked, and after a heroic battle, he conquered it. Overjoyed, the people of the port gave him a handsome remuneration. He then bought his own ship and hired a small crew to set off to uncharted waters for an adventure of his own.

Afterwards, L?na dedicated her life to create a world free from pain and suffering. She left on her mission alone. Her benevolence has since touched the hearts of many.

I'm feeling pretty ripped off! No Aaron specific ending in spite of doing the whole thing JUST TO GET HIS ENDING!

At least the next and final map will be completely different to a lot of the other previous maps and will finally introduce Chaos, the hit singer/song-writer and God of Change.

Scenario 21B - Sonya... reinforcing the worst stereotypes about half-castes, as nihilistic thieves.

Kaiser Bernhardt's terrible age of war came suddenly to a violent end. As the companions breathed a collective sigh of relief, a surging air of evil ripped through the castle walls. Deep within the basement of Castle Velzeria, a mortal recited a prayer to call forth a terrible, powerful god.

Here's the map for this scenario - most of the monsters and positions have changed up.

With Alhazard, I can revive Chaos and destroy this filthy world! Well Alhazard... Let me see your power!

Sonya summons a bunch of monsters to the map.

Aha ha ha! Now the humans are like mice in a room of cats! Run out and play, humans!

Sonya, don't revive Chaos! You have no idea how terrible he is!

Alhazard, my wish is for the destruction of all life on this miserable excuse for a world!

You won't get away with this!

Just you watch me! No one can even touch me! Not as long as I have Alhazard! Aha ha ha!

Let's begin with brutal attacks that focus on killing commanders over getting EXP. Go team!

So here's our situation at the end of Turn 1, it's going pretty well - only 7 commanders remain to be killed.

Let us make a sacrifice of the Descendants of Light to our glorious god! Everyone, make sure they don't interfere with my plan!

Indeed...

Destruction! Death! Alhazard, enrapture me with your power... This bliss...

Aww, Sonya got what she always wanted on this path - the monsters are her 'friends' again. Keith takes a Meteor to the face but otherwise, the enemy does the classy monster mash and shuffle around the map.

Sonya, I understand your feelings, really I do. But a girl like you should not utter such things.

How can you... How can YoU understand me!? Humans, humans... whenever something bad happened people spat on me and blamed me... My blood is mixed with the Demon Tribe's so they thought I was the cause of everything.

Sonya...

But humans aren't the only ones who've betrayed me. My own brethren I believed in, the Demon Tribe - even they turned against me! I've controlled the ones who've humiliated me with Alhazard. Later, I will pay you humans back! With Alhazard's power I will destroy this stupid world! Then we can perish together!

You're wrong, Sonya! I understand... That sadness in the bottom of your heart, your hatred for humans... B?ser has taken advantage of that and used it to further his ambitions. But by destroying everyone, you will be no better than the people who scorned you!

Shut up! What do you know about anything!?

Behold the mighty Descendants of Light! I won't hold back anymore! Go forth my servants! Obey the wielder of Alhazard!

So, a bit slow going as our units slowly move up and Keith's Angels chip away at the Golems. Turn 2 is done. Sonya throws out an Earthquake and takes out some of Fighter's men.

Lost some more forces and Keith takes another meteor to the face. He kills that Stone Golem in revenge.

That Golem is dead and so now, Fighter strikes back at Sonya.

Sonya, stop!

Shut up, shut the fuck up! Stop fucking with my head! I won't fall for your tricks! (CC:83)

Damn-! (CC:84)

Turn 3 is over, we're heading towards a showdown now as Sonya has lost almost all her minions and we're in striking range of her s for next turn. More EQing and Fireballing occurs, Fighter loses the rest of his Grenadiers and Keith dies. Alas.

How could humans defeat me...

How could a human be this strong...

That's Turn 4 over and done with. Only 3 commanders remain. Cherie loses a bunch more of her Angels, they will pay.

Turn 5 is blasted through and all that remains is Sonya and her last remaining Great Dragon commander. Cherie should be able to finish off the Dragon and Fighter can take out Sonya next turn. Liana dies from a counter-attack though.

In just a little bit... In just a little bit Chaos shall return... We will destroy the humans... yes-

Sonya...

Blood is... My blood... Heh... ha... ha-! Alhazard, drink! Chaos! I sacrifice the blood of both Demons and Humans to your glory! Awaken from your long slumber! Don't think this is over... Chaos will... Chaos wi-

Al, Alhazard is going wild...! This power is-

Chaos! You've granted my wish!

Sonya explodes and the screen flashes white thrice...

Fighter! Chaos has awoken!

My name is Chaos. Starting now, I will accomplish the goal I was created for.

Is that the physical representation of evil!?

I was born with the dawn of time. My purpose is to see this world remains in the flames of chaos for the whole of eternity. For the sake of evolution, I maintain a state of entropy. I will break all.

Chaos... is kinda a pretty chill evil God. He's all "this is who I am and what I'm going to do... so " Heck, he's not even really evil - just the opposite of Lushiris and Order.

We won't allow that!

Peace violates the rules of the universe. All who would stand against turmoil and destruction will be eradicated.

Survival of the fittest necessitates conflict as a means of life, encouraging evolution and foisting change upon all the races of El Sallia. By Chaos, it's a fact of life!

I won't let you do that! I will seal you with Langrisser!

Then come challenge me. Witness the limitation of useless, fleeting life...

Even in the end, she still couldn't believe in humans... How sad...

This is all because of Alhazard's existence.

The Descendants of Light who wield Langrisser... Convince me of this power of humans which you so valiantly strive to conquer me with.

Chaos chucks out a meteor for minor damage and then, his Archdemons attack...

Go forth, destroy everything. Let Chaos ensue and restore this planet to its natural state.

This is the end! Everyone, attack!

The Holy Falcon Ray. If His Majesty was still here, we might have prepared it together...

Holy Falcon Ray... to perform this spell- Oh no! Egbert, don't! It requires the sacrifice of the caster's soul!

This is my way to take responsibility! But I can't hit him with the spell yet... Fighter, please weaken Chaos!

... All right.

So this is where Egbert ended up as you might have expected. Anyway, let's take a look at Chaos and how it matches up to Bernhardt as a final boss.

Chaos is a floating head, yes. And is weaker then Bernhardt by 10 AT but has the same DF as him.

Arggh! You will die!

More movement shenanigans but otherwise not much damage can be inflicted upon Chaos yet...

Chaos... Once I learnt your revival was at hand, I began my search for a way to banish you forever! And now, my research has come to fruition! Your life force is sealed!

You've outlived your time, you arrogant pest. With magic power gnawing, eating away your body, you've lived an unnaturally long life.

Until the menace of evil is no more, I will not die! To end darkness forever, I offer no less than my soul. Relatives, loved ones, I will sacrifice it all to keep peace in this land!

Now Fighter climbs the wall and we can start to press into Chaos' lines.

We will definitely seal the power of evil!

I am an ancient god. The power of humanity is too weak to oppose my will.

Slowly but surely we're getting there as Fighter whittles down the enemy forces one at a time whilst everyone else moves up.

I won't fail! Even before a dark god!

Chaos is all that's left. Next turn Fighter shall smite him and set his giant headed ass up for a good ol' fashioned Holy Falcon Punch Ray!

It is our unity and hope for peace that brought us this victory! We didn't depend wholly on Langrisser!

But they are one and the same. The Holy Blade's ability isn't raw destructive power... Don't you understand the real nature of Langrisser? Don't you know how it offers such limitless strength? It is a symbol which combines a gathered people's hearts into one. It brings humans together and shows them the infinite power of hope.

Such a chill god... seriously.

Buy why is it called the one and only sword that can oppose Alhazard...?

Alhazard is also a symbol, but for the Demon Tribe. Those who gather under the sword's banner can change their fate! And I am the Lord of Chaos. Things aren't finished yet, mortals!

It seems it's my turn...

My final spell... A demon banishing ray of holy thunder!

Wait, Egbert! If you use that spell, your life will...!

Oh gods that rule this world! Make my spirit shine, and give me the strength to vanquish the darkness!

Noooo! How could you... how could you use that spell!

Teacher-

It was a long, hard battle.

The ending remains the same though. There are a few more changes to ending scripts which I'll go over, but otherwise the ending is still the same.

Perhaps he left on yet another adventure. No one knows for sure. Three years later, a treacherous war threatened to split El Sallia in two again. It was then that a young traveller arrived and is said to have subdued the conflict within days. The youth never mentioned his name, but stories say he wore a silver tiara shaped like a wing. The rest has been passed into legend.

Her achievements during this war were only average, although reassuring.

It was then, when the memories of war began to fade...

Unable to provide her support, Liana burdened Fighter's party at times.

And if you can believe it, that is all for the mirror Light paths. Did you like Egbert's sacrifice?
As for next time, we begin the Imperial path!
