Wait, what? A Pokemon LP?
Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Slowbeef has granted me a great favour, and allowed me to post this thread. I've been given this by promising him and the rest of Something Awful that this will not be some horrible misshapen blob of an LP like the ones responsible for the current ban on Pokemon LPs.
I really, really want to live up to that promise.
So what is this LP going to be like, then?
Hopefully, it's going to be a good one. I'm going to focus on original content, but without the terrible self-insert fanfiction of old Pokemon LPs. While it?ll be drifting into non-canon territory, it?ll be interesting and plausible non-canon territory ? as much as I?d like to compare the Animal Crossing LP in the archives, that LP is simply too amazing for it to be an accurate comparison.
I'll have a bare minimum of explanation, given that the vast majority of my readers will already understand Pokemon (a few of them more than me); and naturally I'll be doing my best to be funny when I'm merely commenting on the game rather than writing stuff of my own. I?ll try and dodge the unfunny clich?s that tend to litter these LPs, but no guarantees.
I don't know anything about Pokemon, help!
Really? This thread has a good array of information in addition to links to find even more sources on the series. It's also a good place for discussing the games as a whole.
So how?s the commentary work?
Plain text is normal commentary on the game like a sensible LP would use.
Italic text is original content that I?ve written about the scene. It?s often in first-person from the protagonist?s perspective, but I will use third-person on some occasions. It should be pretty clear.
Bold text is my reply to a question, almost always Yes or No. Also for headings and votes outside of the main commentary sections.
