Hmm... There's only one set of these ones, and those ones are kind of shoddy... I'll have to go with these. Could you wrap it all for me, shopkeeper?

It would be my pleasure. I hope those teacups fit what you're looking for?

Yes. They have a welcoming look, with colors that accentuate red drinks. They're elegant in their simplicity. And more to the point, they won't break if the young mistress drops them.

As a refresher, "mistress" refers to Remilia while "young mistress" refers to Flandre.

That's good to hear. I have some in a sturdier material called plastic, if you'd like to see those too.

That's all right. Durability only goes so far with the young mistress. The rest depends on her mood swings.

The door opens.

You here, Rinnosuke?

Ah, that would be Reimu. Sorry, I'm with an important customer right no- Ah?

Um, hello.

Why, hello there, Sanae. It's not every day I see you out with Reimu.

Oh, you're the maid from the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Miss Izayoi, right?

Please, call me Sakuya. What brings you two out here today?

Sanae's looking for something, and I'm tagging along to help. What about you? Running an errand for your spoiled mistress?

I just finished one, actually.

Sanae... That's the shrine maiden on the mountain, right? I don't think we've met before.

That's right. I've started leaving the mountain more often these days. There's still a lot I'm not accustomed to, so I've been having Reimu show me the ropes.

We get weird looks wherever we go, though. It's kind of annoying.

(Now that she mentions it, it's an incredibly rare sight to see two shrine maidens standing side by side. I understand that Sanae came from the outside world... And she's certainly got a distinctive air about her. She looks very diligent, and I'm guessing from her looks that she's more composed than Reimu.)

So, what can I do for you today?

Oh, good on you Rinnosuke. You managed to finish your inner analysis before somebody got creeped out.

Um, I was wondering if this store had any kotatsus.

Those? The furniture store in the village should have some.

She doesn't want a normal one. She wants an ee-lek-trick one. Some outside world thing.

Yes. I meant to bring one with me when I came, but it completely slipped my mind.

The outside world, hmm? Do you still miss it?

Not exactly. It's them. They've been spoiled by modern comforts and can't live without one now. So they loomed over me ominously and told me to find them one.

I can sympathize. Once I got my hands on a stove, I lost all urge to chop firewood.

I think we differ there. I love the mansion's fireplace.

Wow, you have a fireplace? Neat!

It's a Western-style mansion. If you're that interested, why don't you drop by and see it sometime?

May I? I've always had a bit of a thing for fancy fireplaces.

You could just get a job there. They're always hiring maids.

Er, I'm really not sure about wearing a maid dres-

The door opens again.

There you are, Reimu! It's about time I found you!

Oh, I know that voice.

Whoa, Suika? What are you doing out here?

Don't give me that. I went all the way to the shrine to visit you, and you weren't even there. I scored some good sake. Wanna throw a party?

Hi, there. You don't seem to be here to buy anything. I take it you're a friend of Reimu?

Oh, haven't you heard? This is Suika the oni. We met recently.

What? An oni?!

Yeah. She was the last person I was expecting to come tottering up.

Tottering? You talk about me like I'm some kind of wino!

(I never imagined I'd see a real oni in my lifetime. Legend has it they're among the strongest of all youkai... But this one looks like a child. Then again, with how drunk she looks, maybe child isn't the right word.)

What? Do I got somethin' on my face?

Well one for two isn't that bad.

Not at all. You seem friendly with Reimu. Do you visit her shrine often?

Yup. She's a huge pain, but her power is super handy.

What power?

Oh, didn't I mention it? I have the power to gather and disperse all kindsa stuff.

Like I said, it's handy. She can gather a bunch of trash in one place, all at once.

The original ending of IaMP had Suika move in to the Hakurei Shrine for a while. Gathering stuff like that was pretty much how she payed rent.

That does sound nice. Is it possible for you to gather precious objects for people?

Wow, you could gather faith for me...!

I'm not sure blatant exploitation is the best idea...

So, what are you doing here, Reimu? Shopping?

Oh, right. Rinnosuke, do you have any kotatsus like what Sanae was talking about? I figured if we could find furniture from the outside world anywhere, it'd be here.

Don't worry, I think I have something like that in the storeroom. I have some good ones in there, if you want to take a look for yourself.

Yes, please.

Sanae leaves the scene.

I'm impressed. Joining her on a search is a very nice gesture.

Eh, I've been cooped up indoors so much lately, I could use the trip. I figured I could get in some shopping of my own too. Plus, I'm going to buy some sweets on the way home.

Wow, I never knew you had a childish side.

Cut to Sanae in the storeroom.

Wow, so this is what the back room of an antique shop looks like. I love the atmosphere of antiques. Ooh, what a cute teacup. But it'd be out of place at our shrine...

...Hmm?

Someone is rustling around.

Hey, keep it down. There's humans out front!

Is that someone talking?

Is this it for the good food? It gives me some insight into the shopkeep's attitude toward life, at least. I know I got a rare reading from this shop, though. I can keep looking around a little...

I definitely hear someone. But why would someone else be in here? Oh no, is it a burglar?! I could see it. I mean, Gensokyo isn't exactly big on crime prevention.

This isn't where the reading came from. Gotta keep moving...

Excuse me! Is someone back there?

Ack! I've been spotted!

Music: Descent - A Crisis Draws Near

Whoa! A mouse youkai?!

You're really loud. I wish you'd stop yelling with everything you say... Oh, well. Nothing for it but to retreat for now.

The thief books it.

Ack, she got away! There's no question, that was definitely a burglar. I'd better follow her, quick!

------

My, it's already lunchtime. Would you like to join me? Naturally, my lunch is baked sweet potatoes. They make my body and my heart feel so full...

Oh, do you want some? In that case you'll have to beg.

Wait now you don't want it?! Why? You just have to do one thing!
