Welcome back last time we jumped into a hole in the ground rather than looking for some stairs like a normal person.

3 points in perception to unlock Keen Senses. Keen Senses makes it easier to spot invisible things and more importantly it has the unique effect of letting us ‘see’ enemies that are 1 tile outside of our light radius. This is important to unlock around ~300’ if you still have 1 light radius as there are enemies down here you you do not want to enter melee range with so an extra tile of warning is invaluable.

A strange dark growth on the dungeon floor. Normally found at 350’

Shadow Molds are the first enemy you’re likely to encounter that generates darkness. The pool of darkness over there to our right would move around with the mold if the mold could move and if your light is unable to overcome it then you are effectively blind while inside it. Shadow Molds are incredibly dangerous and engaging it in melee would likely mean certain death for Bonnie and with only ~30 arrows I would probably run out of arrows before I kill it so lets just ignore it.

Metallic red centipedes are identical to green centipedes but slightly stronger, very boring. This one happens to be guarding a forge which is equally unexciting.

A giant black spider with sword-sharp mandibles. It skitters back and forth. Normally found at 250’.

Sword spiders are another enemy that would be dangerous to an elf that was less front-loaded than Bonnie. They’ve got a lot of HP, hurt and move very fast and can be incredibly threatening. Bonnie dispatches of it in a few swings, loots the shitty greaves off the ground and moves on.

Also I’d never read their description before and always assumed it was a spider with swords for legs, this is waaaaay less exciting and I’m very disappointed.

”Hummerhorn” posted:

A giant buzzing wasp, its stinger drips venom. Normally found at 250’.

More spiders, with friends. Hummerhorns have effectively no HP but can sting to cause confusion. Dangerous in groups, easily dispatched with a single swing or arrow alone.

If it confused Bonnie the spider could kill her before it wore off so the safe strategy here is to wake up the spider and pull it back where the hummerhorn can’t hit us. The spider took off that 12 HP in a single hit, ouch.

Murky brown potions are always orcish liquor, a shitty healing item that heals some HP in exchange for maybe stunning you. Valuable insofar as they’re rather common and don’t heal much so you don’t feel bad popping them whenever just for safety’s sake.

Bigger wolf, so sick of fighting mindless wildlife.

Heading back the other way in search of stairs we run into another shadow mold, these guys are 100’ out of depth and there's 2 practically right next to each other, what the hell Sil?

Labyrinth vaults like this are fairly common at shallow depths. It’s a twisting maze with loot/traps scattered throughout with a few enemies. Quite nice as long as you don’t get cornered in a weirdly shaped corridor or step on an acid/deadfall/false floor trap.

A Captain of an orcish band, Gorgol keeps his troop in order with displays of violence. Normally found at 250’

Gorgol is a stronger orc who’s main claim to fame is he’s usually running around with a pack of 5-10 other orcs and together they’re quite dangerous at this depth.

Thankfully we’re in a great place to fight a large pack. Large packs of enemies like to split and go the loooong way around you to come flank you from behind so you need to be careful not to stay in one spot too long. However here there’s no way to get into the rest of the dungeon level without going through Bonnie so they’re stuck coming one at a time.

Gorgol joins the fight after we chop down a few of his henchmen.

And promptly realizes he has no interest in fighting Bonnie. Unfortunately with the downstairs 2 tiles away there’s no way he’s going to still be on the floor by the time we make it through his goon squad. Gorgol usually drops some piece of decent gear, usually a branded weapon in my experience. Oh well.

Ugh hummerhorns. Atleast Gorgol is still on the floor, we’ve got another shot at that loot.

Back for more?

Coward.

He is one of Morgoth’s grim mockeries of the firstborn. He wears hardened leathers and runs towards you with an axe in hand. Normally found at 300’ Knows the ‘Charge’ ability.

Gorgol apparently saw this guy on the way down and sent him up to deal with us. Orc Warriors are the next tier of Orcs up from warriors and are slightly weaker than Gorgol is. Charge lets them get a big hit in if they move towards you and attack but that doesn’t happen very often, mostly it makes warriors more dangerous to run away from. I decide I’d rather fight him and the spider at the same time than letting him bump his damage from 3d6 to 3d9 for a turn and maybe get a crit. 3-24 damage is one thing, giving him the opportunity to maybe swing for 3-36 is possible (but unlikely) lethal damage.

”Mewlip” posted:

An evil swamp dwelling creature that feeds on the bones of those who draw near. Normally found at 300’

Ugh stop coming up the goddamn stairs. Mewlips are the first tier of Horror enemies and are among the most annoying. The worst thing about them is they can frighten you, causing you to be unable to attack for a short time or worse they can wipe your memory of the floor your on, resetting your map. Their melee damage is rather anemic though and even with 13 HP it won’t be able to kill Bonnie in a single hit unless the stars align and it somehow lands a crit.

God. Damnit.

The Mewlip still hasn’t landed a hit by the time Bonnie comes to her senses and pummels it into a bloody pulp. I hate these things so much.

Small level. Wish I had found the stairs sooner, only thing worthwhile on this floor was Gorgol and he ran off rather than popping like a good loot pinata.
