Part 3b - Toad (WARNING: CONTAINS smile:

When we last left Rock, he beat up a criminal couple for their precious "Power Drink."

Then he rode a magical dragon that was fed "dragon grass" in order to "fly" to Walse. Seems legit.

Anyway. Have to stop the Water Crystal from shattering, meteor fell, blah blah blah, Walse Tower.
If it hasn't sunk in yet, levels are especially important to a Blue Mage. The magic numbers for this place is 13 and 14.

The second floor is where Rock finds another !Blue spell. It's where he can also nab an early upgrade to his Long Sword.

It's also where you can find these dicks. They cast all sorts of spells, like Sleep, Slow, Stop, Drain and Cure.
Normally not a problem for parties, these guys can tear you a new one if you're solo due to how frequently they cast leading to a DEATH: 6 if you're not careful.

They also drop Fire Rods. :750: Rock will not be using Fire Rods this update.

After a bit of wandering around, Rock finally bumps into these guys. Rock sees his chance steals a Mythril Sword from the Ice Soldier.

Rock Boo'tz

The blue tint let's you know that Flash hit at least one target.

Elf Toads are, for the most part, unimpressive normal enemies. They look funny, deal normal attacks and, for anyone not a Blue Mage, they're not worth paying much attention to.

Rock, with the trained eye of a Blue Mage, focuses on soloing out an Elf Toad - as they only cast Pond's Chorus when alone.
hijinks will be had in this update.

Rock successfully gets hit by it and - oh. OH. Oh shit. Blue Magic is negated by frog status. Guess what healing item Rock doesn't have.

One shopping trip later...

Round 2, asshole.

HENSHIN!

THE ENERGY OF RIPPLES; THAT IS THE POWER OF SENDO!

Goblin Punch hit for 992.

Leveling up allows Rock to smack down Pas de Seuls and Y Burns with ease.

So Rock finally punches his way up to the crystal room, only to find a red shirt fighting the next boss Garula.
Garula is a heavy physical attacker. And clearly, there's only one way to go about this fight.

Rock KEN

By the way, remember Garula's AI script that was posted?

code:

Garula (Creature)
HP: 1200
Vulnerable to Death, Stone, Toad, Poison, Blind, Old, Paralyze, Confuse, Berserk, Mute, Stop, Slow.

code:

AI Script:
Condition:Status:Self:Toad{
     Change Target:Self
     Toad
     }

AAAAAAAAAAATATATATATATATATATATATATA-

ATATAtata...ta. Huh. And that was with crit. (Blue Mages are not a physical job)

Best to leave it to KEN, Rock.

Eventually, silence will wear off, leading to another round of Silence and Pond's Chorus from Rock. Garula casts Toad so rapidly that after the third application of !Blue, he burned through all his MP.

Once that happens you can fight him at your leisure. Attacking normally and using Aero deal good damage, and if Garula actually lands a [Rush] on you, the resulting sap status just serves to power up Vampire.

The red shirt clogs up the exit with his corpse while we say "Hi" to Zerky! and Lenna.

Walse Tower sinks and Rock finds his trippy dragon pal again.

ENDING LEVEL: 14
BOSS DEATHS: 0
TOTAL BOSS DEATHS: 3

Next Time: Aren't you forgetting something ????
