Our next destination is the city to the northwest. I decide to go left instead of up. The tile north of our position (a road/path) means the area is probably pretty flat. The cloud to our west signifies a more mountainous area, which means more cover for us - and our enemies.

Entering the area, we're greeted by a friendly ninja. Potential squadmates can show up pretty much anywhere. The ones you recruit in bars only join you for gold though.

You can always refuse, but at this stage there'd be no point. Maybe I'll get more picky once we're close to getting a full squad of 6.

Hayato has good endurance and decent melee skill but not too much health.

We'll circle the hill before going up. Biff keeps an eye towards the north while the others move south. Hero is interrupted by a Gunman.

Everyone takes cover and the Gunman fires away, causing insignificant mental damage.

Hero takes a few shots but only hits once.

Arthur and Hayato try to sneak up on him.

I say try, because the gunman could apparently spot Hayato and shoots him four times right through the mushroom! I'm not sure if the guman's vision wasn't blocked. It seems enemies can sometimes look through walls. This can work out to our advantage, but it certainly didn't this time...

Hayato's down to 11 HP and he's on fire, which means he'll take 10 damage per turn until the fire burns out. He doesn't have any water to extinguish it and it won't burn out after one turn, so he'll be dead in two turns...

Arthur clobbers the gunman. Blunt weapons tend to do more damage compared to same tier swords, but they also use up endurance.

Arthur and Hero move ahead while Biff throws a bottle of water on the ground for Hayato.

Hooray! Hayato is not dead! But he won't be very useful for this battle, because I've already used up the two medkits we started out with.

Continuing to circle the hill, Hero spots another gunman and manages to hit him against all odds.

I decide to play it safe and let him come to us this time. Biff gets an interrupt, but the gunman's out of range.

The gunman misses a few times and Hero finishes him off.

Hayato gains a level and I increase his HP by one. He'll need them if he survives.

For now, he hangs back and picks up some loot.

We continue to circle the hill, but no enemies show up.

I get a little impatiant and move Biff up the Hill. Arthur
spots an explosteve which you can't see, because I confused the "take screenshot" button with the "end turn" button giving the explosteve a free turn.

But there's still a 14% chance that Hero can take him out before he explodes Arthur!

Well

Shit

Arthur's down to about half his HP again...

Hey there's a mushroom house. Houses can contain enemies and/or treasure chests. This one got a little damaged from the debris. The door's already open, that probably means one of the enemy's we killed came out of there.

Maybe not.

Anyway, before he can do anything, Arthur takes him out with one hit.
He gains a level. As do Biff and Hero. Arthur get more HP while Biff and Hero improve their throwing and ranged skills respectively. Arthur could have done with better endurance, but I figured he needs HP even more right now

An eystalk comes crawling along. Arthur flattens it and the area is cleared.

Time to headbutt all the !-Blocks. Biff gets another weapon for a bomb character, a mine in this case. Maybe i should leave the blocks to Arthur, he got gold the last time.

And he gets more gold again!

The other house house contains a treasure chest. In it, there's yet another bomb , food and boxing gloves. Boxing gloves do stun damage (drain endurance) which I don't find that useful.

I let different characters hit the !-blocks, but they only gaet more mines, arrows and molotovs

So here we are. Hayato's down to one HP, Hero and Arthur down to half HP, we have a bunch of weapons we can't use, no medkits and not enough gold to heal everyone and buy something useful.

See you next time.
