Chapter 8: ON A BOAT MOTHERF-er, mommy.
I get into the back seat with him today and-
”I want magicians on your game.”
“I want lot of magicians.”
Well okay.
“The kid went to see his grandpa. Should we go too?”
”Mm-hm.”
”See there broken castle!”
”Where kid?”
“He’s on his way. Do you think he’s coming?”
”No.”
“He’s not coming?”
”Uh-uh.”
“He came!”
He didn’t reply, just kept watching. I think he was a little tired, really.
He does ask ”What he doing here” when Mid starts hitting Cid. I don’t tell him it is elder abuse.
“That their home?
I explain that it isn’t. It’s a restaurant. I point out the food and drink sprites on the table.
He isn’t as chatty during the boat repair sequence as I was expecting, but he probably has seen a bunch of Cid/Mid repair scenes by now.
”She’s back!” 
“He’s remembering her!” I don’t use the term ‘flashback’.
”She was hiding?”
“Why he do that again”
“He’s remembering it again!”
”Go back in the boat.”
Hard to explain that we never left it.
He tells me to go underwater after we get back to the boat from the flashback. Ship graveyard callback?
This line doesn’t actually trigger a flurry of inquiries into Exdeath’s whereabouts or demands to fight him.
”Go back in the boat.”
”Zs! Zs there!”
“There are! That means they’re sleeping!”
”Park there.”
I get out and walk around briefly before getting back on the boat.
We cruise down to Jachol mostly without comment. He does see Sahagin and declares ”They green! They are green!” which is true.
”Noooo! Don’t play that!”
“I’ll stop.”
I go to the shops and AFTER I FINISH BUYING EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE
”Want change all costumes again want change their costumes.”
“… and the time magianc has a red hat..”
”No other red hat.”
Honestly I am glad he did this in the early game when Red Magic isn’t SO bad. Most of these guys are subbing summon, Bartz is two handing a coral sword.
”They all red magicians!”
We hit the cave. I was 1AP away from getting mystic sword 1, but it’s just fire, etc I guess so whatever.
”Squirrels?”
“Yep.”
”Squirrels fighting?”
“Yeah. But we gotta run away from the gray one.” Repeat this a few times throughout the cave.
”Where it is?”
“This is the next town!”
“It’s an earthquake!”
“Is it ecks-deff?”
“No. … Well I don’t think it is.”
“Ecks-deff do this?”
He sees his hand behind every screen-shaking effect it seems!
“Oh no, the boat is sinking!”
”It under water?”
“Mm-hm.”
”Boat under water.”
”Get on bird.”
“It’s a chocobo!”
All he has to say about the crash and crystal finding is ”Fly back up.”
So we do and head for Istory. He likes the bird’s dance but doesn’t comment.
Our state at the end of this. Quad red mages. Well ok I guess. That’s fine.
Next time: THE RED SCARE (or more likely more misc stuff like Istory and Nix. Maybe the sand worm.
