Part 10 - Rugserker

The two princesses have returned and evil has been vanquished from the land. I don't think anyone cares about a damn bridge.

Anyway, one of the most annoying bosses is up next.

code:

Antlion
HP: 8100
MP: 1000
Weak to Water.
Immune to Earth.
Vulnerable to Blind, Old, Sleep, Berserk, Silence, Slow.

AI Script:
AI SCRIPT:
{Fight,Sonic Wave,Specialty}
{Fight,Sonic Wave,Specialty}
{Fight,Sonic Wave,Specialty}
{Fight,Sonic Wave,Specialty}
Stomach Acid
React:Death{
     Escape
     }

He has a 1/3 chance of using Dischord four out of five turns. Otherwise he's not too bad, just a complete pain in the ass.

So the idea is to crush it quickly before Zerky! gets hit with too many of them.

Only one lands, so this isn't as pain as it could've been.

Yay we got a corpse back.

Everything else is irrelevant. This is it. This is the moment we've all been waiting for.

We're set for most bosses now.

Keep in mind I didn't start running until World 2. So I've got a bit of grinding to do...

Much better.

So, uh, the Chicken Knife can deliver over 5k damage. That's crazy good.

But remember, the knife also takes Agility into consideration. Combined with Artful Dodger, which gives Zerky! a Thief's agility...

And he can deliver 7.2k damage a hit against defenseless enemies. Artful Dodger is now my go-to ability now, as it also makes Zerky! a good bit faster as well.

Note: You can't run as a Berserker in the SNES version, and the Chicken Knife is glitched as well apparently, so Zerky! wouldn't be able to take advantage of this in the SNES version.

Next up, another boss that could be a roadblock.

code:

Gargoyle
HP: 5000
MP: 300
Absorbs Holy.
Vulnerable to Death, Stone, Poison, Blind, Old, Sleep, Paralyze, Berserk, Silence, Stop, Slow

AI Script:
Condition:Alone{
     Unhide Monster: Gargoyle
     }
{Fight,Fight,Specialty}
{Fight,Fight,Specialty}
{Fight,Fight,Specialty}
{Fight,Fight,Specialty}
{Fusion,Fight,Specialty}

They just use physical attacks, which Zerky! can laugh off. The tricky part is they both need to be killed close together, as if only one is alive the other is fully revived.

Fortunately, Zerky! has the offense to kill them almost instantly. The front row dies in one hit, the second in two. The issue is killing both before either has a turn.

Sulla had to stack his equipment to have enough agility to barely beat both at the same time if one happened to use Pep Up to sacrifice itself. Zerky! has twice the agility here though and can just brute force it until everything works out.

The Pyramid itself wasn't as bad as usual. Zerky! either ran away or chopped everything apart. The hardest part was killing stuff in chests without proccing !Flee from the Chicken Knife.

These have their uses. Zerky! wants to end stuff quickly anyway, and can with the Chicken Knife, so the countdown effect of the Cursed Ring and HP Sap of the Thornlet are non-issues for the most part.

Even these guys were a joke, going down in two hits each.

This is nice for the whole two floors of this dungeon and one boss battle I'll need it.

This can randomly cast Quake on all enemies. Unfortunately, Zerky! can't take advantage of the magic underflow glitch the SNES version had to do sick damage to everything, but it'll still has its uses, plus Zerky! has !Summon to boost damage at least.

That's done, now for the next boss.

code:

Melusine
HP: 20000
MP: 500
Weak to Fire.
Absorbs Lightning, Ice.
Immune to Water, Air, Earth, Holy, Poison.
Vulnerable to Blind, Sleep, Paralyze, Confuse, Silence, Stop, Slow.

AI Script:
{Fight,Fight,Nothing}
{Bolt3,Fight,Nothing}
{Ice 3,Fight,Nothing}
{Fight,No-Damage Magic,Nothing}
{Bolt3,No-Damage Magic,Nothing}
{Ice 3,No-Damage Magic,Nothing}
{Fight,No-Damage Magic,No-Damage Magic}
{Bolt3,No-Damage Magic,No-Damage Magic}
{Ice 3,No-Damage Magic,No-Damage Magic}
React:Magic:No-Damage Magic{
     Change Target:Whole party
     Ice 3
     Barrier Change
     Unhide Monster: Merugene (Random form)
     }

Melusine has four forms. She also has forms where she absorbs Fire and is weak to Lightning or Ice. In that case, you can just go through her script and replace the spell she's weak to with the spell she absorbs, i.e. she never casts magic she's weak to. Her fourth form absorbs all three (and uses all three spells) but instead is weak to physical attacks. She has a chance of randomly changing forms after three rounds.

Zerky! doesn't give a shit about any of that because he has no issue cutting through her defense.

Then the idiot made the mistake of changing to a form weak to physical attacks. She didn't live to regret it.

ZERKY! DRIVE PLANE!

OK, first order of business.

I'm nailing these to Zerky!'s feet.

Honestly I probably don't need this because Zerky! is already set but can't hurt.

Since Zerky! is Omni most of these are actually useful. I go Assassin's Dagger, Rune Axe, and Masamune. I'll still be rolling Chicken Knife with most things though.

Zerky! has no problems laughing off Shield Dragons either.

With Haste, the other sets of Gargoyles aren't even worth covering.

This is Zerky!'s standard layout.

This guy's actually a bit tricky.

code:

Wendigo
HP: 20000
MP: 8192
Absorbs Water.
Immune to Earth.
Vulnerable to Blind, Sleep, Slow.

AI Script:
Condition:Status:All Enemies:??{
     No Clue
     }
{MindBlst,Nothing,Nothing}
{Fight,Nothing,Nothing}
{Hurricane,Nothing,Nothing}
{Fight,Nothing,Nothing}
{Charm,Nothing,Nothing}
{Fight,Nothing,Nothing}
Stalker Attack
Condition:?? & Status:Self:?? & React:Magic??{
     Blaze
     }
React:HP Damage{
     Stalker Attack
     }

Wendigo is a giant game of Whack-a-Mole.

The thing is, most of Wendigo's attacks are non-issues. Mind Blast can't paralyze, Berserkers are immune to Confuse, and physical attacks don't really do much.

The only threatening thing is Hurricane, which ends Zerky! a few times. With four of these guys throwing it around, it comes down to luck, as usual. Thankfully, the Aegis Shield is awesome as hell and blocks a lot of them to let me get the win after several attempts.

Another tablet down.

Next up, Fork Tower. Zerky! doing Fork Tower is a fucking ridiculous idea for several reasons. But first, let's beat up Minotaur.

code:

Minotaur
19850HP
Absorbs Water, Earth, Holy, Poison.
No vulnerabilities.

AI Script:
{Fight,Fight,Specialty}
React:Death{
     Display Text: Minotaur:  Holy...the magic
     Display Text: 'of strength...See its power!
     Holy
     }
React:Item:Assassin Dagger{
     No Clue
     }
React:Physical{
     {Specialty,Nothing,Nothing}
     }

Minotaur is refreshingly simple, nothing but physical attacks.

He never had a chance.

So, Omniscient. This guy counters physical attacks with the "Return" spell, which completely resets the battle.

Zerky! can do nothing but physical attacks.

There's no reason for me to do Fork Tower. Doing it unlocks an axe I'll never use and Kaiser Knuckles if I'm stupid enough to ever go Barehanded again and sacrifice Hermes Sandals. Sulla didn't even bother with this guy.

But I'm dumb enough to do this challenge, so I'm going to try to kill the Rugwizard with a solo Berserker.

The plan is Dual Wield with Chicken Knife + Mage Masher. Chicken does damage, Mage has a 33% chance of proccing Silence, preventing his counter. Otherwise, I'm built for speed since if things go according to plan Omni should barely land any attacks on me to begin with.

Taking care of Minotaur, I just had two Samurai with Main Gauches and Elven Mantles spam Gil Toss while a Knight Guarded. It worked out well enough.

Anyway, on to the main event.

code:

Omniscient
HP: 16999
MP: 30000
Weak to Air.
Vulnerable to Blind, Old, Paralyze, Berserk, Silence, Stop, Slow.

AI Script:
Condition:HP < 4000{
     {Bolt3,Fire3,Ice 3}
     }
{Cure,Fire,Slow}
{Scan,Ice,Regen}
{Mute,Venom,Haste}
{Size,Float,Nothing}
{Cure2,Toad,Demi}
{Charm,Fire2,Stop}
{Bolt2,Ice 2,Qrter}
{Wall,Drain,Bio}
React:Death{
     Flare
     }
React:Physical (exception:Steal) {
     Reset
     }

All of this is irrelevant except React:Physical. Everything else can be silenced.

So, major issue number one: Omniscient has Protect. This means I'm only doing 3k a hit, meaning I need 6 hits to bring him down.

Here's the thing, though. I don't actually need six Silence procs necessarily. Due to Haste, Zerky!'s next turn comes up fast enough that he can stab Omniscient again and still not trigger Return. That's balanced out though by the Chicken Knife sometimes proccing !Flee, and since Chicken Knife is by far my biggest damage dealer I have to use that.

Two Mage Mashers would increase the proc chance to 55%, but only deal 1k damage.

Anyway, I don't have a proper video for this. If I recorded this normally, it would've taken up hundreds of GB. I ended up streaming this for a laugh and eventually got a suggestion to spam buttons while doing this to change up the RNG. After doing so, I ended up winning somehow. Feel free to watch the insanity. (Chat plugin was messed up and didn't update much)

So somehow my idiotic strategy paid off, and Zerky! managed to defeat time itself.

Next time, we go through pointless dungeons for no reason other than because I can.
