Gladiator Matches 3, 4, & 5: The Masked MadmanFaris, Grandmaster at Arms Vs. Soul-Stealer Siren, Manhunter Magissa, & Gentle Giant Garula

So! Last time we fried ourselves some lobster and got ourselves ship-wrecked. We should probably be getting outta this dump.

A ship graveyard DOES make a pretty wicked backdrop for battles, though, I need to keep this place in mind...

A map? Ha! We don't need some lousy map! Besides, who knows how old this wreck is? That map could be wildly inaccurate, and hinder us more than help.

This tent is damn well made though. Looks like this ship was launched by Karnak, I could recognize that logo anywhere.

Oh, suck it up, Faris. You were in that mock navy battle two months ago, you're used to this!

See? Other than that golem-lookin' thing, these guys are all wim-

...Well, that's no good. (DEFEATS: 1)

Oh damnit, again? (DEFEATS: 2)

GODDAMNIT, FARI-

Producer's note: This went on for a while. (DEFEATS: 6)

There we go, that is QUITE enough of that!

Oh shit, Faris is a woman? I better change her title, then. And I'll make it gender-neutral this time, in case Galuf saw wrong.

My memory of what happened after this is a bit fuzzy, but the camera crew was able to get the cameras set up before they went unconsious, in case a fight went down.

And not only did a fight go down, but hoo boy, was it a doozy!

MATCH 3

Producer's note: Once again, a lack of Faris ruining the other fighter's whole career in two seconds has made the Tycoon Gladitatorial Federation consider it worthwhile to detail the strategy in use by Faris' opponent:
code:
Siren (Human, Heavy)
HP: 900
MP: 200
Vulnerable to Death, Stone, Poison, Blind, Old, Paralyze, Confuse, Berserk, Stop, Slow.

AI Script:
{Mute,Slow,Haste}
{Cure,Ice,Scan}
{Armor,Sleep,Bolt}
No Interrupt{
     Display Text: Changes to an Undead!
     Unhide Monster: Siren (2nd form)
     }

And for the Siren's undead form:

code:

Siren (Undead, Heavy)
HP: 900
Weak to Fire. Absorbs Poison.
Vulnerable to Death, Stone, Blind, Slow.

AI Script:
{Fight,Specialty,Fight}
{Fight,Specialty,Fight}
{Fight,Specialty,Specialty}
Unhide Monster: Siren (1st form)

It wasn't particuarly apparent in the video replay, but this was a pretty big stumbling block for Faris, nessecitating no less than 4 tries! (DEFEATS: 10)

And wouldn't you know it, Faris' victory is enough to move Faris into the next tournament bracket!

We were approached later and asked if we wanted to be moved into a more active schedule, but I decided that Faris had enough matches per month as it was, and respectfully declined the offer.

Our recent victories had also led the Federation to provide us with better equipment than the shoddy leatherware that we had been using up until this point. Unfortunately, the iron armor that they had commisioned was running late, and so they granted us this bronze set until it arrived.

Finally, we had gotten a slot for a fight at North Mountain that promised to pack in the crowd. Who am I to refuse, let's get at it!

This isn't it, of course. The Federation sure is bringing in some craaaaazy new blood these days. A pair of possessed tombstones? Seriously?

Alright, the other fighter should be around he-

OI! The hell are you doing, poisoning my cameramen! Faris, show this chump who's boss!

MATCH 4

Producer's note: As always, Magissa's strategy is as follows:

code:
Magissa (Human)
HP: 650
MP: 200
Vulnerable to Poison, Blind, Silence, Stop, Slow.

AI Script:
Condition:V00=00 & HP < 300{
     No Interrupt{
          Display Text: Magisa: Honey, a job for you!
          Unhide Monster: Forza
     No Interrupt{
          Change Target:Single Enemy, Not self
          Regen
          Set V00=01
          }
     }
{Fire,Ice,Bolt}
{Aero,Specialty,Drain}

Magissa's strategy involves calling for her husband and fellow Gladiator, Forza, but as the replay shows, Faris dispatched Magissa before she could call for help. Unlike with Siren, Magissa only defeated Faris once. (DEFEATS: 12)

Magissa was shunted to the late-night rotation for her unsportsmanlike conduct in poisoning one of my cameramen, and thankfully, an EMT was nearby to apply first aid to Lenna's injuries.

They airlifted Lenna to nearby Walse, and we hopped on for the ride.

While we waited for Lenna to recover, we recieved our iron armor. The axe was a pleasant surprise.

Now THIS is a hell of an arena! I've heard a lot about the Tower of Walse: Several of the Federation's legends got their big break here: The Ancient Archeoaevis, Atomos the Annihilator, & the reigning world champion himself: Emperor Exdeath!

I learned from an intern at the Walse hospital that if we hadn't killed Wing Raptor so fast, he would have used the attack that this dragon's using on us right now, Breath Wing. It's as unimpressive as Wing Raptor was.

Here he is. Gentle Giant Garula. Don't let the name throw you off, in battle, he's a vicious monster, focused on rushing down his foe.

Guess Faris gets to add "killed a buffalo-elephant halfbreed" to her resume.

MATCH 5

Producer's note: As always, Garula's strategy is as follows:
code:

Garula (Creature)
HP: 1200
Vulnerable to Death, Stone, Toad, Poison, Blind, Old, Paralyze, Confuse, Berserk, Mute, Stop, Slow.

AI Script:
Condition:Status:Self:Toad{
     Change Target:Self
     Toad
     }
Fight
Condition:HP < 800 & HP Damage{
     No Interrupt{
          Fight
          {Specialty,Fight,Nothing}
          }
     }

Subverting the trend of the previous few battles, Faris only needed one attempt to best Garula.

And there you have it! Join us next time for another three riveting matches, including the first foe that Faris cannot end in one attack!
