Part 25: Two More Tablets.

He hems and haws at the choice, but EVENTUALLY decides to go to the ocean and the Great Sea Trench.

Mostly because I showed him the places and THIS one has a weird hole!
”Go down in there. Go down in that hole.”

These monsters?”
“I think they’re gargoyles.”
“Cause their bad?”
“No. While these bad guys are gargoyles, not all gargoyles are bad guys.

”He make them all dark?”

“What do you think that is?”
”Get in there.”
I… use Mighty Guard before hitting the lava.

“Should I hit this switch?
”Uhh.”

“It made a new path!”
”Go in that.” He points to the lava.
“I’ll have to go in soon.”

“Now I have to go in!” I hit the trap switch just because.

”They robots?”
“Sure. Sort of.”
”They came back?”

The weird monsters don’t really phase him.
”What they do?”
“They have a very annoying counter attack.

I poll him on what he wants to use summon-wise. He picks Syldra and Bahamut. He actually gets Bahamut’s name right too.

”Numbers!”
“They put numbers on us!”

”What happening here?”
“We’re underground, there’s lava everywhere. We’re floating so we don’t get burned.”

”Why they floating?” He means the bad guys for once.
“They’re skeletons. They’re hanging from… vines it looks like.”

”He a badguy?”
“You know what, I don’t think so. They’re dwarves!”

He doesn’t have much comment on them really.

”Get in the water.”

I realize I forgot to re-up might guard after using the cottage, so I wander the stairs until I get a fight, cast it, then flee. The fights here are kind of easy, but a little bit of a hassle all the same. Lenna gets Summon 5 off one of the random encounters here, so alright!

The switches pass without much comment. Yeah kid, this part is a little boring for me, too. I totally realize I should have trigged the trap to show it off to him far too late.

The tablet!
”Pigs”
You’d think he’d perk at Exdeath’s mention but nope.

”What are they? They… pigs?”
“The look like bad guys with really big heads. They make pig noises, but don’t look like pigs, do they?” I put up Mighty Guard.

“Do you want me to use Syldra, Bahumut… OR ODIN?”
”Syldra.”

I rapid fire into them some, perhaps unwisely. I try to keep the damage balanced while Lenna summons.

”So, Syldra, Bahamut, or ODIN?”
”Bahamut.

That last Bahamut kills two of them, luckily Bartz gets a turn before anyone revives and downs the last one in one volley of rapid fire.

Faris masters Samurai. Krile learns Lance. Probably never going to use either, but cool.

I am impatient to get out of here.
“We’re running, okay?”
”Uh-huh.”

And get back to the sub. I point it out but no comment.

In between these sessions my son went to his first dentist appointment (no cavities!) and one of the little gewgaws he got was a little plastic dragon that you can squeeze and have it ‘shoot fire’ (unfurl a trio of little red plastic party blower kinds of things.) He wanted it to sit on my laptop while we played, so it did.

”So we could go under water here and get another job crystal, or go to the waterfall here and fight the water dragon”
”Water dragon.”

We head on in!

”Bad guys?”
“I don’t think they are bad guys. Do you think we’ll get attacked if we go forward?”
”Uh-huh.”
“Naaah.” I play dumb, go forward “Oh wow they WERE bad guys! You were right!”

”We fighting in water?”
I use Bahamut at his request.

“Look at all these waterfalls.”

“We gotta run!”
”He little bad guy? And… he getting closer?”
“He’s tough, though!” we flee. Man, nope to Tonberries.

”Water badguys.”
When fighting them, he says ”Fire on them!
I ask if he wants me to use Bahamut to do fire on them, but no. He’ squeezing the dragon at them and making ‘fire.’
”Dragon helping us!
“Aw, that’s nice of him.”
We get into another fight.
”Fire on bats now!
This pretty much goes on for half the dungeon with our honorary fifth magician.

”We fighting them? Frog?”
We rapid fire down Alchymia down before she can unfrog it.

”What are they?
“Coral. Sort of like rocks.”
”They want to eat us?
“Nnnno. They’re just rocks.”

”Fire on bats now!” He squeezes that dragon. As he we pick them down he says that ”Dragon got that one!” or ones, as the case may be.

”We got to next room?
“Yeah. There are a lot of paths here.”

”We fighting on water?
When we finish he says
”We run on water?
“Well I don’t think he was running on…”
”No no no. We WON on water!
“Oh. WON. You’re right!”

”He back?
“We’ll run.”
”What’s he?
“He’s called a tonberry.”

”Biiig shadow!

”Fall in that hole! Go in that hole!

I do! He loves it.

We get the tablet, move to leave aaaand…
”He a bad guy?”

”Water dragon?
Leviathan destroys the baddie. “Leviathan beat him!”
”He badguy?
“No. He stopped Exdeath’s guy. He’ll help us if we can win.”

”Fight him!”
“Here it goes!”

Mighty Guard goes up, Golem too.
”He dragon?
“He’s a water dragon!”

”Hamut help!” Hey he lost the Ba again.

He loves when the tidal wave hits. I don’t catch that, just the healing aftermath. I also point out the bits of the sprite art of Leviathan. His mouth, little wing arms, tail, feeler-y-dos.
”He make water!

“Now he’ll help us!”
”Have him help.

He also asks how we got out so fast. Waterfall.

”He make water!” He really likes it. I bet the reason that there is a desert here is so that your first Leviathan test does crazy damage.

”Why we back here?
“We have to go back to our submarine.”

We head off, hit Kuza Palace and get the last 6 weapons. Just imagine variations on this screenshot

Six times with a 3 year old sometimes singing along to the ‘getting stuff’ tone.

We wrap it up. We’re almost out of stuff before it is time to hit THE RIFT.
