Not much to show off today, because all the wizard has been doing is altar work. However, in the spirit of Minecraft Let's Plays everywhere, I'm determined to update everybody (read: nobody) about my very important lack of progress.

+5 ring of protection would be good if we needed it (we don't), potion of gain level is always nice, and that spellbook was turn undead, which we already have.

The next level down is a special lair level. It prevents teleportation, but not level or branchporting. Lucky us, because our blessed bag of holding - which quarters the weight of its contents - is holding over 1600 units worth of items. Yikes.

I jump back over to my stash, and decide I'd really, really like a few more spells. I have about 25, but I'm an addict at this point. Gotta get my fix.

Thoth (our god) crowns us as his Envoy of Balance. This gives us a bunch of intrinsics (which we already have), greatly increases the time we have to wait before we can pray (annoying for altar work) and gives us a nice present.

There was a reason I killed Moloch's priest - aside from thumbing my nose at the fucker, note how he utterly failed to hurt me at all - I wanted his robe. Unfortunately, it's cursed -2. Fortunately, because I've been praying for spellbooks, I have a way of removing both the curse and the negative enchantment. Also, since the priest dropped some spellbooks, I'm considering murdering a few more. I can take the penalties.

Cancellation! I don't know if I screenshotted getting this one - altar work is tedious. Cancellation removes all charges and reverts objects to uncursed state. I am very careful to aim this upwards - I don't know if cancellation fires a bouncing ray, but if I get hit by it I am utterly fucked. Sort of. I guess I could re-bless and re-enchant everything, but it's a huge pain in the ass. Trivia: if you put a wand of cancellation into a bag of holding, they both explode. Don't put that wand in that bag.

The setup I have for altar work. I use boulders to keep the priest off the altar so I don't hit him accidentally, and Elbereth engraved on the two [ squares so that enemies can't run away, and I can summon and then sacrifice them until my god lets me pray for more heroin spellbooks.

Unfortunately, I didn't engrave Elbereth on any of the boulder squares. I end up summoning some hill giants, which can pick up boulders. I don't get to choose what gets summoned, and they pick up a bunch of my boulders and shift them around. Fuckers

I engrave Elbereth on the items instead - the goal of the boulders is to prevent the priest from getting in the way, since the monsters can be controlled with Elbereth. Also I decided to waste a wish on the Platinum Yendorian Express Card, which to my annoyance I managed to get on the first wish. It lets us charge wands - I should have gotten this and used it to charge wands of lightning/fire to burn permanent Elbereths, because engraved ones can erode.

Note the top: I got a message saying it ate my sacrifice, but I didn't get a hopeful or reconciliatory feeling. The lack of this message means it's safe to pray, as indicated by invoking the Eyes. However, I also note my luck has gone down from "extremely lucky" to "very lucky". Nothing to worry about, I'll just branchport down to the Mines and throw gems at unicorns for 5 luck a pop.

Here's our unicorn, a short while throwing gems at it and we're back in business.

I'm at the Castle. Why did I come down here again? I don't remember, I think I wanted a shield. Back to our altar.

Mother FUCKER.

This giant picked up all our boulders while we were gone and just fuckin drops them, doesn't even give a shit. He also broke the door down to get in. Asshole. Now the priest is in the way again, and when I kill the giant he drops like 10 boulders on one square. I can't even loot him.

I decide to genocide... mimics? This is for a later area with shops so that mimics don't spawn in place of items.

So yeah, not a lot happening. Just getting spellbooks. I especially want polymorph, but received Dig instead. That should get us some extra carry weight if I put the pickaxe in the bag of holding. We'll see!
