Chapter 28: The Rift Part 3: Dragon Force.

We are in THE RIFT. Or… the void. Wait where IS this?

I run from the first King Behemoth, the second he says.
”We don’t need to fight him.
“They’re more trouble than they are worth.”
”I want to fight him.
“We can… try.”

I give it a go, but flee because meteor downs some people. He doesn’t protest much.

“Do you remember him?”
”Yes.”
”What’s his name?”
”Tony.”
”Why he standing there? Why he on that rug?”
He has a few more variations on that question, referring to that ‘rug.’
“That’s a teleporter.”

He asks if he’s a bad guy. I explain he is just confused.

“See? he remembers us now.”
”And he has eight arms?

“He wants to be friends. Bartz is telling him how to get out.”

”Follow him. I want to follow him”
“He left.” I try to explain he left the rift so we’d just be going backwards.
”I want to follow him.”

“We have to keep going forward though, watch this!”

”Fightin’ these guys again?
“They’re different ones, more colorful.”

Lenna masters summoner!

“So, son. Are we tough?”
”… … yes.”
“Okay then. Lets find out.”
I go to shuffle some EQ and- ”But she wrong magician” Uh-oh.

“Do you want her to be a kitty magician again?”
”No.”
I begin to go through the list, I start with Knight and… ”Yes.

”What that on her head?
“A circlet.”
Oh hey I only have one set of heavy armor. Whatever.

I actually mess up the first time. I use Mighty Guard instead of having Faris haste Krile, and don’t have a mirage vest on Krile. I get the zerk off, but he flattens them both before she can cast blink. I fix it for the second go.
“He big. He little big.

I have coral rings on the top two dudes. This is still the first run. You can tell because everyone is mighty guarded.. Krile is the White Mage of course.

In round two he tells me to get the other magicians up. I do so carefully, maintaining my images. Faris uses Flash once. Hopefully it worked.

Lenna puts Golem up and summons Bahumut. Bartz just rapid fires. Faris just Fights. Krile is the star of course, keeping blinks on everyone.

Nice, nice. Krile gains like 3 job levels too. I never really have anyone who can ever use it- wait a minute.

“What is that over there?”
”Umm… a box.”
“And over there?”
”…a tree!”

”What these guys?”
“Mind Flayers. They have… squid heads.”
”They hitting him?”
“It… looks like.” They are totally focus-firing on Faris and I have to raise her up.

We move on to the next teleport rug.

“Look at those tree parts.”
”Tree parts fall down” he gestures to indicate that they fell down here.
“No, they’re growing out of the crystal.”
”Why?
“We’ll see.

”Him again? Fighting him again?” He points at the Mind Flayer.
“We are!” This one goes smoothly.

what do you think?
”I want to pop it.”

I’ve never actually bothered with Necrophobe on any of my fiesta runs. I usually just tank up with ethers and hi-potions and use save states.

”He one of Ecks-deff’s bad guys?”

”They’re bouncing spells to attack us!”
“Why?”
“He’s trying to stop us.”

“Which summon should I use?” I list the top 3.
”Bahamut.” oh he got it right.

”We got one.” he seems pleased.

We ping the rest of them down.
”Why he still here?”
“He’s really tough!”

This is LOW damage for Syldra on this guy, dang.

“Hey what’s that song?”
”The battle on the big bridge song!” he is jazzed to hear it.
“It’s Gilgamesh!”

”Where he standing?” he points at Gilgamesh.
“Gilgamesh is helping us fight him!”
”Fighting on ice?
“It LOOKS like ice. I think it’s crystal.”
”Hard ice.

I narrate Gilgamesh’s stuff. He listens, but he might not get all of it. He mostly watches this unfold.

Necrophobe gets serious with his white magic/black magic reflect gimmick build, but Gilgamesh is all about the Blue Magic and you just can’t win against that cheese.

”He disappearing!”
“Gilgamesh blew him up!”
”Why?”
“To help us beat him.”

”Why he pink now?”
“That’s the last save point in the game before Exdeath. We’re almost there…”
