Knight Moves
vilkacis got a blazing start by getting Wizard for his first job. dotchan also got a pretty good start with Archers. Me? I get to go slow, with Knights. On the up side, I'll have good HP and do good damage. On the down side, they're horribly expensive to equip. Me and Gil won't be spending a lot of time together.

Going with my name, as is my wont after beating a game for the first time.

And going with Max Zodiac.

Standard, boring opening battle.

Still one of the best lines in the game.

Flashback time! We... don't ready our swords...

You know! One of those guys these guys want to kill! Oh... Me and my big mouth.

Wasn't he supposed to be a Samurai? Then again, I'm better off having him as a Chemist. Samurai skills can be painful at low levels.

Yeah! You tell those corpses!

I don't need this. However, I do need cash.

Stick a knife in him. Trust me, you'd be doing everyone a favor.

I mean, we sure aren't gonna save him. Tell ya what: Let's see who can kill him first!

And I murderize him. A winner is me!

This bastard tried to charm one of my female Squires not once, but twice! Lucky for me, he failed both times.

No. I don't want to. Damnit, I have to, to progress the game.

Nope. Give me everything you have, then

I'm only friends with your equipment. Out.

Yes. Yes it is.

In case you missed it, nobody likes Algus. Probably not even his mother.

After this, I do some grinding for some Gil, and set up Ravenwolf as a Knight, the first Job I was assigned.

Detailed Knight Breakdown
Ability: Battle Skill. This lets you break enemy equipment, as well as "break" a foes MP, Speed, Power, or Mind. You lower their MP, Speed, Physical Attack power (PA), or Magic Attack power (MA). Breaking equipment will lower the HP and MP of the target, since they boost those stats when equipped.
Reaction: Weapon Guard. You have a chance to block a Physical Attack. It's OK, but I like Counter better.
Support: Equip Armor, Sword, Shield. This allows you to use the Helmets, Armor, Swords, and Shields that a Knight can use, even when you're not a Knight. Great for beefing up a Monk, as Orange Fluffy Sheep showed us. (Pointless side note: That LP was the one that made me register an account.)
Movement: HAHAHAHAHA No. Knights get no movement skills. It's totally worth grinding 200 JP as a Squire to unlock Move +1.

Since I'm poor right now, I outfit Ravenwolf as a Knight for the Sweegy Woods battle, as he's the Squire with the highest Brave, and also has Move +1 unlocked.

Algus dies, nobody cries. The rest of us clean up the baddies, and continue on.

I now have the Gil to set Kheldarn and Eliar up as Knights, so I make a quick trip back to Igros Castle to do so.

On the way back, I get into a fight in Sweegy Woods. Zooming out to show everyone makes things look kinda off...

I went after the Skeletons first, because I forgot that when their timer hits 0, they revive. I lost Kodo Filia in the process.

This was a Bomb with 1 HP, and I got really lucky. Instead of exploding, he tried to bite Velvet, and missed. Khel finished him off with a stone.

Random Battle over. And with more Gil in my pockets, I switch Eliar to Knight, making another trip back to Igros. No fights on the way back, though.

Thanks to spillover JP, I'm able to pick up Counter Tackle for Kheldarn. The next battle, Dorter Trade City, is generally rough, so I doubt Counter Tackle will help much, but it's better than nothing.

Are you kidding? Delita knows everyone!

This Knight has a hate-on for the main character, and his AI reflects that. So, I gang up on him, instead of the Wizards, while I let Delita go after the Archer On The Roof, and let Algus soak up the arrows said Archer fires.

Delita was next to the Archer when he attacked. He hit him so hard, he knocked the Archer a square away. If the Archer had been in that square, and Delita knocked him back, he would have died from the fall. Yeah, you can die from falling damage in this game.

Meet Diaz, The World's Dumbest Archerâ„¢! Due to a bug, he spawns without a weapon. His Charge skill lets him make his punches stronger, though.

That Wizard corpse in front of Eliar was doomed. He decided to cast Fire on Eliar, and while it was charging, Eliar moved in for the kill. If Eliar's attack hadn't killed him, the resulting Fire spell would have finished the Wizard off.

Kheldarn takes out the Knight that was trying to kill him.

Kodo Filia has fun stalking this Archer. Ravenwolf finishes him off, though.

I am bad at screenshots. Just before Delita's turn, Kheldarn attacked the remaining Archer, and the Archer blocked it. Jerk!

He then blocked Kodo Filia's attack. So Ravenwolf did the job neither of them could do, and ended the battle.

Next time: Zeklaus Desert.
