Update 01

Welcome to the Final Fantasy Tactics Five Job Fiesta: OmniClassic!

to follow...

In the Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta: Classic, it's always a Natural run. That doesn't work too well with FFT, though, so my Classic run for the FFT5JF will be OmniRegular: Mixing & Matching of Legal Job Skills is allowed.

Also, in the FFV4JF, because it's also Natural, Classic assigns Crystals to the characters. FFT has no Crystals, so that's dropped.

So, how do the Jobs work in FFT's version of Classic? I'm glad you asked!

FFT has no real Red Wizard/Mage Job. Sure, you can fake it, but it's not really worth it. So, that Job is not part of the FFT5J Classic. Once Red Wizard/Mage is removed, that leaves 5 Jobs, which is the exact number you need. Lucky!

Here's how the Jobs work out. They're listed as FF1 Job -> FFT Job
Chapter 1
Fighter -> Squire
Black Wizard -> Wizard
White Wizard -> Priest

Chapter 2
Thief -> Thief
Black Belt -> Monk

So, in Chapter 1, you'll have at least 1 Squire, 1 Wizard, and 1 Priest. (Remember: The challenge doesn't start until Sweegy Woods, so you can use Mandalia Plains to quickly grind up to Chemist Level 2, which unlocks both Wizard and Priest), with 1 more character as any of those 3 Jobs.

Once you reach Chapter 2, you'll have all 5 Jobs, but you can freely switch which Character is which Job.

Speaking of the Jobs in FFT, it's possible to simulate Final Fantasy I's Class Change. Once you reach Chapter 3, you are considered to have completed Bahamut's Citadel Of Trials, and will be promoted to your new Job, as follows:
Squire -> Knight
Thief -> Ninja

The Final Fantasy I Black Belt being promoted to Master didn't really do anything for him, except raise some stats. Well, that, and slow the growth of the Magic Defense Stat. So, there's no real reason to simulate Promoting the Monk.

However, the Black and White Mages, are different! By restricting the Spells they can use before Chapter 3, you can simulate the difference between Black/White Wizard and Black/White Mage. Spell Limits are as follows:

Black Wizard
White Wizard
Alright, now that that's out of the way, let's get this show on the road!

Welcome to Magic City Gariland, home of Magic and Flashbacks! We won't be staying long. I strip & dismiss a few of my starters, due to their low Brave and Faith, and recruit a couple replacements.

Mandalia Plains, our first battle of Chapter 1.

We still don't want to save Algus.

Did you not read what I just wrote?

Our next stop is Igros Castle. I forgot to screenshot this, and Mandalia Plains, until after I finished Sweegy Woods. Nothing much happens, except a small family reunion.

Off to Sweegy Woods. If Moogles are extinct, how can Summoners summon them?

Having a Wizard makes this run a lot easier. They're pretty good at murdering things.

I have no idea why they removed these from the PSP port. As far as I'm concerned, that, more than anything else, makes it inferior.

Ah, Dorter Trade City. The first difficulty spike of Chapter 1.

I guess we must.

We fail. I think it was that scream. What was that, man?

Shadow was a Priest for a time while I worked on unlocking it for Kestrel.

As vilkacis has shown, shit's on fire, yo.

Kestrel helping us survive. Yay, Kestrel!

Zeklaus Desert. That's 122° F for those of us who don't use Celsius. I guess that means it's Phoenix, Arazona. Well, Zeklaus might actually be cooler than Phoenix in the summer...

Good thing I'm not a Knight this time (yet...), because that's not very Knight-like.

Protect is pretty handy.

And Finn is a murder machine.

He accidently killed Kestrel while taking out the last enemy. I think Finn believes that some sacrifices must be made to win...

It was faster than my Knights & Monks run, though.

It is very OK, yes!

To let Finn murder things. He has a deep seated need to do so. I'd not cross him if I were you...

It's not much of a hideout...

Actually, I helped myself save him. You just got to tag along for the ride.

The enemies using Shell. Not that Finn cares.

Ah, Miluda took the bait, and went after Algus. Classic mistake.

You've seen what Finn can do. I'd suggest you surrender.

Meanwhile, back at Igros...

As we head back, a group of monsters decides to ambush us at Mandalia Plains. Finn is happy to use them for target practice.

I mean, I wouldn't lie. You can trust this face, right?

Just like my last attempt, the frog has spoken.

Mandatory cutscene that goes on for too long.

So... it's possibly a graveyard. And we're gonna fight there. Why not?

Did you check behind the curtains?

What went wrong? They annoyed Finn, so he added a few more graves to this place.

That's OK. Finn can use Fire Magic to keep our foes warm.

We managed to make him mad...

He avenged her. This is the second difficulty spike of Chapter 1.

Shiny!

They killed Finn? He's gonna be pissed when he's raised...

So pissed he takes himself out along with Wiegraf...

The final battleground of Chapter 1.

You gone die.

Finn was the MVP of Chapter 1.
