Aah, we're back again with these lovely analysis and we've got some starters to go over. Slight changes in the addition of the Special Defense stat and stats that are bolded are ones to focus on, whereas stats that are underlined are ones to watch out for. So, going with Cyndaquil is pretty simple, since there aren't many Fire types in the game, especially this early, so it's a very unique choice. Moveset wise, it's very basic, with only Fire and Normal moves. And there's still the problem with a lot of TMs in this generation being Normal, or even Physical, so while it does have a fairly good Special Attack stat, it can only really use it for STAB. Though its Attack stat isn't terrible, so the various Physical moves it can learn aren't a bad choice, though due to the one use nature of TMs, might be more effective on other team members. At least purely relying on Fire moves isn't a terrible idea.

Now, new to the LP, is how this Pokemon can be used throughout the journey if you were to use it on your team at the time you can obtain it. Both Cyndaquil and Totodile and weird in that they don't learn a STAB move for a little while, so it might be a bit tough to get up in the levels, but by the time Cyndaquil learns a Fire move, it can use it straight away to blow away the opponents, though it will be a while before you get anything stronger. It also evolves very early, the earliest a starter can evolve, so it will be able to carry itself through most of the game, but will start falling behind the curve later on. However, supplemented by other team members and tactical use of TMs makes this Pokemon a solid starter choice.
