Axel picks up someone's approach.

As expected, it's the Hagane and Hiryu Kai, here to rescue their own. Oh, and Lee's here too, and he's not too happy with what he sees.

Lee: "So, Arado Balanga... You've tried to contact your old compatriots after all."
Arado: "Huh!?"
Ryusei: "W-wait, what are you talking about? He's---"
Lee: "It doesn't matter what you say. The evidence is plain that he's been spying for the Neue DCs. It's time we dealt with him appropriately."
Ryusei: "Wha---"

Bullet: "Captain, you can't be serious!"
Lee: "Of course I am... your foolishness makes me sick. Sending an enemy defector out on reconnaissance..."
Katina: "Yeah? Well, you make me sick, you arrogant jackass!"
Lee: "You don't understand the situation. Balanga has been refusing our communications."
Arado: "N-no, that's not---"
Lee: "Don't think a little damage to your machine is enough to keep up your disguise."

Masaki: "You expect us to believe he's acting!?"
Lune: "You don't understand the situation either!"
Lee: "And outsiders should hold their tongue."
Masaki: "What the hell!?"
Lee: "Hmph... they're even relying on civilians, now."

Tetsuya: "Stop it, Lee! That's no way to talk to them!"
Lee: "Is that an order, Tetsuya? You seem to have forgotten which of us is the captain."
Tetsuya: "What!?"

Lee: "You're far too soft in your judgment. It's why you'll always come in second."
Tetsuya: "I'm not going to take that from you!"

Daitetsu: "THAT'S ENOUGH FROM BOTH OF YOU FOOLS!"
Lee:
Tetsuya:
Sean: (Like a thunderclap...)

Daitetsu: "This is not the time for you two to bicker like children!"
Tetsuya: "S-Sorry, Captain..."
Daitetsu: "Commence the attack! Relieve the R-Blade and Angelg, and destroy the enemy!"

Kai tells Arado and Lamia to disengage and fall back; Arado protests that he can't now that he's found Seolla, to Latooni's shock. He gives a quick summary of the situation.

Kyosuke: "Excellen, we'll take the vanguard."
Excellen: "Gotcha. What a mess... good thing we've got practice with this, huh?"
Kyosuke: "Practice has nothing to do with it. Lamia will be fine, but Arado's in no shape to fight. Let's move."

Axel: "No mistake... the color's different, but that's the Gespenst Mk. III. Between W17 and you, this must be my lucky day. You're not the one I knew on the other side, and there's no place here for old grudges..."

Axel: (But if we leave any loose ends, it could upset the balance down the road. What will you do this time, Kyosuke Nanbu?)

Original Axel's entire reaction to this? BEOWULF!

Kai orders Kyosuke to take the forward position, and Axel calls his people to engage - but to leave Beowulf for him.

But before that can happen, alarms go off all over the place as a warp signature is detected - but not the Inspectors, and not the Einst. Axel thinks that he's here...

You should listen to this.

Vindel: "There they are. Now I see... they're much stronger than they were on our world."

The group tries to figure out what to make of this new mech; Viletta can tell it's not an Aerogater design, it wasn't at the White Star, and it doesn't look like an Einst, but it used warp technology... is it yet another alien invader? Masaki thinks Shu may have had a hand in it... in any case, Irm reasons that they're clearly an enemy, whoever they are.

Vindel: "They seem surprised. I can't blame them."
Axel: "You're early, Vindel. Is System XN working all of a sudden?"
Vindel: "The basic warp functions are stable."

Lamia: "That's... the Zweizergain!"
Vindel: "I see the Angelg. Axel, is W17 piloting it?"
Axel: "That's right. Something went a bit funny during the jump, though. Just try not to yell at her, okay?"
Vindel: "...?"

Lamia contacts Vindel on the covert channel.
Lamia: "Master-er Vindel... your mech... do-o not te-ell me... has-as i-it be-een co-ompl-e-eted?"
Vindel: "...What? Lemon may enjoy these games, but I..."
Axel: "I told you it was weird. Sounds like her language system's shot. I wouldn't worry about it, it's not worth spiking your blood pressure over. W17, just talk to him like you would to me."
Lamia: "Understood."
Basically, Lamia gets so nervous about talking to Vindel that her speech system overloads completely. About half of the pictured line is borderline gibberish.

Lamia: "Master Vindel... the Zweizergain se-eems to be stable. Surely-ly it has not been completed yet?"
Vindel: "Naturally. But as you can see, the warp function has no problems."
Lamia: "Then the ma-ain force has begun to move?"
Axel: "That's right. There'll be a lot more orders coming before long. Lemon's expecting a lot from you. From what I've seen, I've got my doubts... so you'd better put everything you have into it."
Lamia: "Understood."

Lamia: (If orders come, my mission will become simpler. But I feel... uneasy. Why? Only a short time ago, I was waiting for these orders, but now... no... could my emotion circuits be damaged too?)

Kyosuke: "What's she doing?"
Rai: "...Lamia's acting strange."
Excellen: "Yeah. Hey, Lamia? We're in the middle of combat, remember?"

Lamia: "This isn't good, the delay is making them suspicious. Perhaps we should resume fighting?"
Axel: (...Huh? Was that part of the W-Numbers' programming?)
Vindel: "Mechanical doll, this is an order. I've brought the Zwei here as a combat test. W17 will provide the data. And whatever trouble you may be having, I don't appreciate the insubordination."
Lamia: "I am sorry."
Axel: "Heh. Lemon will be pleased, I'm sure."

Vindel: "Axel, take Sergeant Seolla and return."
Axel: "What? Why?"
Vindel: "When Beowulf is involved, you tend to lose your composure."
Axel: "That was that side, this is this one. I know the difference."
Vindel: "It's important, Axel. We can't fail at this stage... and we can't risk losing you yet."

Seolla: "But I haven't completed my orders!"
Axel: "This is an order too. Sometimes you have to decide which one you can carry out. For yourself."
Vindel: "You'll have another opportunity. This is my order to you for now."

Axel: "...And what about Beowulf?"
Vindel: "Axel. That man isn't your true enemy. Didn't you say as much yourself?"
Axel: "..."
Axel: "...Right. I'll leave the rest to you, Vindel." (To beat the Zwei, they'd have to be... no, I don't need to worry.)
Seolla: "I'm sorry, Lat... I tried to take you with me...!"

Axel and Seolla both leave the field.

Original Axel, of course, gets pissed off at being sent away because he thinks Vindel doubts he can win. And his response to Seolla is that only stupid dolls care about orders. Also, his only concern upon leaving is that Beowulf might get killed by somebody else before he gets the chance.

Basically, when they rewrote all of Axel's scenes in the remake, they just said "okay, let's have say the opposite of whatever he said before."

Vindel: "With System XN repaired, we can finally resume operations. The Door of Aguieus will be reopened."
Lamia: "....."
Vindel: "Our errors from the other side will not be repeated - Hagane, Hiryu Kai."

Lamia: "Colonel Vindel Mauser. Commander of the Federation Special Task Force, Shadow Mirror..."
Vindel: "...Hm?"

Lamia: "Come. You requested a combat test? I'm in a foul mood, after watching your manner. I don't know why this noise clouds my processes... so please don't hold this against me."
Vindel: "Interesting words, for such an elegant doll, W17!"

And now we have a name for our mysterious otherworldly enemies.
