This happy floating mine is decent enough. While it isn't as defensive as it will be in future, it can take physical hits pretty well and it can hit back with some fairly good STAB early on with Sludge. But its low HP stat and Speed means you might have some problems pulling that off. Still, it's perfectly usable and with the ability to blow up if things go south, then it's definitely a worthwhile pick. You'll be using it for a long time though, since it does take a little while to evolve into something a bit stronger and a bit beefier, but with plenty of Special TMs to utilize both attacking stats, this is a force to be reckoned with.
