From the depths of the toxic waste, comes a pair of sludge with eyes. Boy, how original. But really, Grimer is pretty gosh darn cool, I like it a lot. It has pretty good Attack and some passable defensive stats, so this Pokemon can work pretty well, since it learns Sludge pretty quickly. Poison types get a nice boon in this Gen with Sludge Bomb, but otherwise, you have the usual Normal moves and an unfortunate number of Special moves, which aren't very effective. Aside from Pound, you only get Poison attacking moves through level up, so you need to find something else, or Steel types will stop you cold. You do at least get that with Dynamicpunch, but it's just a few low stats and weaknesses that stop Grimer from being a pretty good Pokemon. Still, it's effective for the story, so have a go, should be fun.
