Characters

Isaac Clarke was originally an engineer for the Concordance Extraction Corporation or CEC. He became mentally unstable after encountering necrotic lifeforms and a device reverse engineered from technology found on earth called the Marker on the USG Ishimura and later Aegis VII. Due to his insanity, or perhaps his knowledge, he has been locked away within an asylum. Between this game and the original, we can see that Isaac seems to have lost some weight as well as gaining some hair, showing that a good chunk of time has passed since the events back on Aegis VII where the Marker was assumed to be destroyed.

Isaac: Where, where am I?

Foster Edgars seems to be a doctor or therapist of some sort. However, his tactics during the first time we meet him or dream of him seem to indicate he is pushing for information on the Marker rather than directly trying to help Isaac cope. Later, he seems to admit to not trying to help Isaac at all.

Trivia: His badge states Edgars Foster while many sources state his name as Foster Edgars. Likely a last name first doctor's badge.

Foster: Isaac, we're all going to burn for what we did to you...

Nicole Brennan was Isaac's girlfriend as well as a senior medical officer aboard the USG Ishimura. She seems to have died before the events of the original Dead Space, but still haunts Isaac as a result of the hallucinations brought on by the Marker.

Trivia: EA has a habit of modeling characters after voice actors, and Nicole is no exception. Due to the new voice actor, Nicole has changed her appearance immensely, which can be very disconcerting for a player from the original game as well as breaking immersion.

Nicole: I didn't want it to end like this. I really wanted to see you again... just once. I loved you. I always loved you.

Though Franco Delille, a technician, is only encountered momentarily, his story plays an important role in the final events leading to Isaac's awakening. The game Dead Space Ignition, detailing Franco's story, will not be covered by me as it is not available on PC.

Franco: You're in terrible, terrible danger!

Daina Le Guin contacts Isaac immediately after Franco's death at the beginning of the game claiming to want to save him. Isaac's trust issues pent up from the previous game kick in the more he hears from her. She feels a lot like a replacement for Kendra Daniels from the original Dead Space.

Isaac: Why should I trust you?

Daina: Because I'm not the one shooting at you.

Nolan Stross was a scientist featured in the animation Dead Space: Aftermath taking place between Dead Space 1 and 2. He has become a pateint much like Isaac experiencing vivid hallucinations based on his own encounters with the Marker from Aegis VII. A recording during the beginning of Dead Space 2 indicates he was interviewed by Foster in a similar manner to Isaac.

Nolan: I didn't deserve this! Fucker.

Alien Writing

Any translation submissions from comments will be found here.

Trivia: The above two alien writings can be found on the menu screen. Different selections in the menu contain further writing.

Necromorphs So Far
Necromorphs are the reanimated corpses of the dead; however, a living human can be turned into one very quickly as well. A good example of this would be Franco's transformation.

Infectors are bat-like Necromorphs that spread the contagion quickly to corpses and, in rare cases, live humans, to create more Necromorphs. They seem to be made from human torsos and arms, lacking both a human head and legs.

Slashers are very common Necromorphs, but also tend to be varied in looks as well as growths. After being turned all Slashers have some sort of bladed appendages hence the namesake of slasher. These appendages can be formed from the arms already present or brand new limbs from the shoulder blades may be constructed. They are also often seen wearing a variety of different clothing depending on the transformed victim.
