Let's Play Skyrim: Sweetrolls, Nords, and dragons.

What is Skyrim?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls series, a series almost as rich in lore and story as in bad design decisions. It takes place in the northern lands of Skyrim, current home of the Nords, and also currently a place of civil unrest. Also, there may be dragons.

What happened between Oblivion and Skyrim?

The short version is the Aldmeri Dominion seized the Summerset Isles and Valenwood, then stayed quiet for seventy years. Then the moons disappeared, then they came back, the Aldmeri claimed credit, and got Elsweyr to stage a coup. Many years later, Titus Mede II claims the Imperial throne, the Aldmeri greet him with a gift basket full of severed heads and an ultimatum, he tells them to fuck right off, and a bloody war begins. Through cleverness and tactics the Empire manages to gain the upper hand, and though the Imperial City is sacked, they slaughter the forces that were sent there. Titus Mede negotiates a treaty known as the White-Gold Concordat (possibly named after the Imperial White Gold Tower) with many of the same terms as the original, including the cession of a large portion of Hammerfell, the disbandment of the Blades, and the banning of worship of Talos. He planned to use the time to rebuild the Imperial army. Hammerfell refused the terms, it was renounced as part of the Empire, and the Redguards fought the Aldmeri off by themselves (curved swords!). Tensions between Cyrodiil and the other countries in the Empire are now high. Read the full version here.

So what's this LP about?

The Great War ended in 4E 175. It is now 4E 201, and the time is ripe for one of Skyrim's most anticipated prophecies to occur: the return of the cruel Dragons, and the corresponding return of the Dragonborn. It is the Dragonborn's destiny to stop the ending of the world by Dragons and the enslavement of all humanity. And also marry someone.

Alright, but what's the twist?

I already played Skyrim! It's boring to me now. I don't want to make another character and go through the same crap, so instead I'm going to mod it until it feels like a slightly different, better game, and then go through the same crap.

Mods I'm Going To Use
Alduin as a Shadow Dragon
Alduin shine remover

Spoilered for revealing the main baddie of the game, though it's not terribly big, and it just makes him/her/them/it look better, so don't feel pressured to mouse over. Google them if you must find out more about them.
Deadly Dragons
Detailed Faces
Dragon Souls to Perk Points
Dragonbone Weapons
Glowing Ore Veins
High Quality Eyes
Killable Children
Legendary Smithing Upgrades
No More Blocky Faces
SkyUI (yeah, no way I'm parting with this one)
The excellent Sounds of Skyrim mods, which appear to be currently unavailable, and have no bearing on a ScreenShot LP anyway.

Wow! That's quite a mouthful! Before you get to worrying about that let's dive into Skyrim proper!

The game starts with a helpful reminder of who made it. Gee! I never would have guessed.

We awake on some sort of cart in Akatosh-knows-where. How did we end up here?

Well, our cart appears to have some fine company. Who are these gentlemen, and why is that man gagged? Why are we in the wilderness?

What? Oh! Yep! Wide awake. Chipper, even. What's first on the agenda for this fine day?

Oh, that's depressing.

Hey, cool it with the accusations!

I agree! Let's get off this cart posthaste! I have a bad feeling about it!

Yeah, what gives with the binds anyway? I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything wrong. What is going on?

Sorry.

Oh gods, where are they taking us? Really, I want to know.

Lokir: No... this can't be happening! This isn't happening!

So you do know where they're taking us, then?

Lokir: Why do you care?

Ralof: A Nord's last thoughts should be of home.

Lokir: Rorikstead. I'm... I'm from Rorikstead.

Tullius: Good. Let's get this over with.

Headsman? What's that? Perhaps he meant to say helmsman.

Wow, look at this shitty backwater village. I hope we're not going to be prisoners here.

Lokir: Shor, Mara, Dibella, Kynareth, Akatosh. Divines, please help me.

Ralof: Look at him, General Tullius the Military Governer.

Ralof: This is Helgen. I used to be sweet on a girl from here. Wonder if Vilod is still making that mead with juniper berries mixed in.

Ralof: Funny, when I was a boy, Imperial walls and towers used to make me feel so safe.

Some guy herds his kid inside as we pass by.

I'm not buying it. If this High King is so great, why's he on this cart with us?

Imperial Captain: Get these prisoners out of the carts. Move it!

Lokir: Why are we stopping?

Ralof: Why do you think? End of the line.

Ralof: Let's go. Shouldn't keep the gods waiting for us.

Lokir: No, wait! We're not rebels!

Ralof: Face your death with some courage, thief.

Wait, death? Oh shit, this is an execution, isn't it? It is! I see an executioner right there! Headsman, my ass!

Yeah, I'm just gonna keep my head down. Hopefully I'll keep it on.

Imperial Captain: Step towards the block when we call your name. One at a time!

Ralof: *sigh*... Empire loves their damn lists.

Ralof: It has been an honor, Jarl Ulfric!

Hadvar: Ralof of Riverwood.
Hadvar: Lokir of Rorikstead.

Lokir: No, I'm not a rebel. You can't do this!

Lokir: You're not gonna kill me!

Oh, yeah, that's gonna work. You should've tried that when we were on the cart.

Keep running, dumbass! You're gonna die tired!

Can't say I'll miss him.

Hadvar: Wait. You there. Step forward.

Huh? Uhh... that's a good question.

Who am I?

This is the other audience participation portion. Just vote for the race you want (there's no classes in Skyrim), and give some vague description of what you'd like them to look like. I'll take it from there and try and recreate it. Keep in mind that I'm trying to be a bit different from Lizard Wizard's LP, so while I haven't explored magic and would like to do so, I'm not going to go Argonian Mage. Don't worry, though, whatever race we pick and whatever skills we decide to prioritize, we'll always be able to branch out into magic, stealth, smithing, enchanting... whatever you want. However, two-handed weapons or shields, and magic, do not mix. So keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that unless you plan on picking one of those rebalance mods, or you want to go pure Thief or something, Heavy Armor is superior to Light Armor in basically every way. More on that later.

Well, that's a lot of choices to make in one OP! I'll leave you to deliberate, but first, spoilers...

No outright spoilers on anything we haven't gotten to yet. Spoiler tags are allowed since I've pretty much seen everything, but don't spoil enemies we'll fight, powers we'll gain, equipment we'll get, quests we'll complete, factions we'll join, or any of that, until we get to it, without putting it in spoiler tags. I definitely encourage you to point me exactly where you want me to go, though. We don't even have to do the main quest if you don't feel like dealing with that dragon nonsense.
