Jun is now our suicide runner, bashing the AFWs as much as he can before he dies in a glory of fire (or get 1 scratch and camp for healing like a wuss). Basically, he's a poor version of Ryoko who's a poor version of Anti-AFWs. Oh good.

Karma Encampment Hanger

Si! See! This is my machine. Numero Uno!

Hey! That machine's too good for the likes of you.

It's like John knows what I'm thinking.

Hmmm...Matilda. It looks as though Emilio's unit wasn't made in North Japan.

These sharp angles in the protective armor are more like a Niebelen machine.

Yes, I'm also quite surprised. All the parts seem to be made by Niebelen GmbH except for the fighting arm.

On top of that, the machine's an Anti-AFW. When did Niebelen begin manufacturing Anti-AFWs?

I don't know. If Anti-AFWs were being developed at company headquarters, I would certainly know about it.

Okay so Anti-AFWs are the next generation, yet South Japan and Germany aren't making them as far as they know? Yet they call North Japan lacking behind in tech? How does that make any sense?

If that's true, why is this thing here? I mean, we found it at Morioka Prison Camp.

I dunno, Niebelen gave away free units to Karma. Maybe they captured one of them and retooled it?

The AFW Technical Officer, Shringen. Does he have something to do with this?

...Or we can go straight to the conspiracy route.

I have no idea. As you know my specialty is limited to AFWs. I'm not very familiar with company policy or their management style.

Oh, another finely crafted answer. Classic Matilda. This Christophe Shringen is getting more suspicious by the minute.

What's the matter, Ryoko?

...?! What? Does it look like something is wrong, Ayana?

Wrong...? Well...you were staring at Emilio's machine with a strange expression.

Perfectly fine. Shrinks are overrated. Always need a crazy person in the squad to keep the others on point.

...Ryoko! Are you ready for combat?

Oh, worried about me, are you? You're so kind. I'm OK. I can fight, don't worry. The other day, I was just reminded of old times. I was just confused, that's all. Forget about me Wei, you should worrying about yourself. I'm outta here.

Wei, Ryoko, what's all this about?

It's nothing.

...Ryoko.

It's really strange that for them to show up at a place like this. I wonder how they knew where we are?

I don't want to believe it, but I think there may be a traitor among us.

Do you have any idea who it could be?

It better not be one of our units. I'm tired of that mechanic that makes you have a unit, then it disappears forever

No, but we released several political prisoners when we occupied the Morioka Prison Camp. We can't discount the possibility that an operative may have been among them.

Are you serious?

Hold on, now. You don't think it's me, do you? I don't tell untruths. Isn't there a saying in Japan: ?Telling a lie is a the first step to a poverty??

You mean: ?Stealing is the first step to poverty.?

Why are you trying to defend yourself when nobdy said anything about? Now THAT is suspicious.

Eh, as much as I want to shoot him down, he's too much of a bumbling idiot to be a spy.

...I mean, we can still shoot him. I'm not against that.

Cool it! First we gotta intercept the enemy troops!

Yeah, you're right. Besides, I don't think he's got what it takes to be a spy anyway.

Victory Condition: Defeat all enemies
Losing Condition: Loss of base or going over Day 6 07:00 time limit.

You think Kaiho is in there? If only we hadn't let him escape from Morioka!

In...what? What is ?there??

Jun gets attacked by a Light AFW, nearly killing himself to take out the enemy. Already seeing improvement!

Ryoko gets in against a Light AFW. Regular Wire still does the job, but she only dealth 94 damage in melee with a Shooter on the ground. I might need to convert her into medium range shooting in the future at this rate.

Capitano! Do you know anything about a my country, Italy?

Yes:

Yeah. It was the first country to surrender in World War II, wasn't it?

Oh, capitano. You better think again. Italy is a powerful country, but at the same time, ti's very beautiful! I lova her!

So you love your country, huh?

Of a course. Don't a you love you own country, Capitano?

THIS. FUCKING. ACCENT.

I don't know.

No:

No, I don't know nothin' about Italy.

Mama mia, Capitano! It's a terrible mistake to be ignorant of Italy, and it's a great advantage to have detailed knowledge of her. Italy is a powerful country, but at the same time, ti's very beautiful! I lova her!

Dualy noted. The next Italian I see, shoot first. Shoot later.

So you love your country, huh?

Of a course. Don't a you love you own country, Capitano?

I don't know.

Anyways, Ryoko gets attacked by an Anti-AFW. She loses her shielding, but a Wire let her have a one-way attack. She levels to 12.

Yeah about that. Ayana's only damage was a last-second Incendiary to my Recon (which, by the way, fuck you smile:. Didn't really stand a chance since the Anti-AFW didn't have any counter to WP Shot. She levels to 12.

Ayana gets attacked at short range by a Standard AFW down south and let me tell you, it hurt. Its APCR shots AND regular shots dealt over 80 damage while Ayana only fired back a measly 40-50~ back.

Ryoko exchanged melee blows with a northside Standard.

Another damn Anti-AFW, huh? Who invited you?

I hate when dying units unload their Crew shells. Again, the main reason why this game is so much more an endurance than most other strategy games. The enemy are all suicide figthers that will unload everything they got.

I would like to take the time to say...

FUCK TREES. These green bastards will negate your shots no matter how high your accuracy is if you hit them. You know why fuck trees? Because the enemy 4-Leg had two APCR shells, and the second one would kill Ayana. I load up Emergency Load and fire off an APC Shell. Okay, fine. Load up another Emergency Load and lock on for 90%. Then it hit the tree.

...So I loaded up Emergency Load again and had to use Aim Weapon because I already used an APC Shell on the standard earlier. That damn tree cost me 2 MAX points

Ryoko gets attacked by a 4-Leg, but its ground troops were just Recon and Medic so it was an easy walk-and-punch.

Kino initiated an assault on an Anti-AFW. Unfortunately, it immediately used Quick Move so I had to eat a point for Dodge. That was the definition of pointless.

The same Anti attacked Ryoko. It was met with a one-way smash to the face for its efforts. By the way, why the hell are Ryoko and Kino all alone at the northside and the rest of the team way down at the south?

Ippei picks up the southern star city. Shooter with Wire/APC Shell. Very nice if you want the power of Shooters without wasting a slot to use Mechs/Supply on the ground.

Oh hey, that triggered reinforcements. I hate you.

Ryoko gets attacked by the Standard AFW. At this point, she's playing for immediate survival and unloads two HEAT Shells and unleashes a Rapid Punch.

Ryoko then gets attacked by a 4-Leg AFW at long range. She eats another 2 MAX points, this time with a Check Fire followed by Rapid Punch. The latter was probably not needed considering she did 150 damage to 96 health, but I ain't taking no risks at this point.

Kino attacks the Light AFW to save Ryoko from dying. It went from little damage on the unit with full health soldiers to no soldiers and barely over half his health. Gotta love Spray Fire. Kino levels to 10, and increases to 6 MAX points.

Gameplay quirk #49:
-Front abilities can't activate in melee range. This let me nullify the enemy's Focus and my Hyper soldiers win out in a shootout.

In an act of stubborness, the Light attacks Kino. Anger leads to death. Or something like that. I'm probably skipping a few steps.

Welp. Kino's heroics didn't matter as the Anti-AFW got to move before Ryoko anyway somehow. Fucking Quick Move. She managed a good chunk with Rapid Punch, but that doesn't change she's still gone (More importantly, those soldiers are all gone. Good thing most of them were generic.) This does majorly suck though for her, mainly because she won't get any upgrades to her soldier rank.

Seriously, who the fuck decided to put only Ryoko and Kino against an enemy squad twice as big as the other?!

FUCK

Ayana avenges Ryoko.

And John avenges his buddy. He levels to 12.

More reinforcements. This was triggered because it can.

And even more pop up in the south. This is why I've been camping Emilio on the base this entire time to prevent base capture loss.

Ippei gives a quick wave of 151 damage to a 4-Leg AFW.

Jun gets another battle since like 2 hours ago. He took a massive beating to kill a half-dead 4-Leg at short range, but hey that's the Jun way.

He then promptly gets attacked by a Standard at long range. The damage he did would seem impressive, except he used 2 HEAT Shells and 3 Check Fires.

Ippei dances and dodges against the northern Standard and levels to 12. He also increases to 6 MAX points. Ayana finishes it off.

Jun does a slightly better job when attacked by an Anti-AFW. Blowing off the shields is a huge accomplishment, but that's more because this unit doesn't have Quick Move.

However, this information came in handy and let John easily clean up without any worry.

Emilio finally gets his first bout in a weird way. The Light AFW attacks from medium range, and uses an Illumination Shell despite having one of its soldiers loaded with an Illumination Shot Italy easily walks up due to mere bullets stopping him.

At least the other Light attacked at short range. Emilio punched him, then again on his turn. A third encounter was initiated by the enemy, and it died. Managed to take out Emilio's shield though, but it was either that or use up a MAX point.

Light AFW attacks from medium range. Emilio keeps punching it.

John captures the northern city. Not worth the death of two guys+6 soldiers,

Or these reinforcements!

Wei gets his first fight since like day 1 of the last mission and finishes off the Light AFW. He levels to 11, increases to 6 MAX points, and gains Accurate Fire.

THIS is what all of Wei's points are going towards. Accurate Fire deals 50% more damage than a regular shot, effectively giving him 6+ APCR Shells.

Emilio gets attacked by an Anti-AFW at medium range (???), but the deadly Electric Wire+Quick Move beats it out.

Good luck with that, buddy. Emilio punches more dudes after that.

Wei takes down the Anti-AFW.

Ippei tells you to man up. Might also do the same if you tell him to get a light beer.

Or explain why someone would make a beer ?light.?

Anyways, he kills the 4-Leg next turn. Yes, he punched an AFW just twice to kill it.

Meanwhile, Emilio gets attacked by the Standard at long range. All it got was a loose jaw and broken legs.

And death, but Wei picked up the slack in that department.

Grunt, you literally did half the damage of a man older than he should alive in this era. The enemy tried to redeem himself by attacking from long range but, that actually went worse for him.

What the hell, stop attacking me from medium you stupid Anti-AFW!

The 4-Leg attacks Wei from long range, but Wei uses his new to to blow it up. Just for reference, Wei's regular shot deals about 84 damage to it. He levels to 12.

Ayana finishes up the Anti-AFW and levels to 13, increasing to 7 MAX points.

Ippei completes the mission with a big bang, using his Strait Punch to deal...the same amount of damage as his regular? Huh. Well, that makes it even more worthless. He levels up to 13 and increases to 7 MAX points.

Whew! Looks like we were able to straighten that out quicker than I thought.

That's strange. I don't think they came just to look.

You think too much!

John's got it right. Kino the conspiracy nut, always so paranoi-

*Base blown up*

We gotta rescue them! Let's go!

Hold on, Ayana! It's dangerous to get close!

But, but...

Wha...what on earth happened?!

It's no accident.

Well, no shit

Hey, it's not a me! I give you my words!

He's lying! Get the torch!

I know that!

Hey you! Give me a hand! There's still danger here. We gotta start putting out these fires. We also gotta get the injured out of there.

I want to go too!

Might be better to use an AFW to remove the debris. Anyway, we gotta hurry!

Dunno what a Light AFW can do to rescue people under debris Or 4-leg for that matter.

I repeat. The Liberation Front's base has been destroyed.

Phantom here. Good job. Now they can't go anywhere. Get out of there on the double. I'll see you at the lair.

What, no quotation marks? Where's the consistency?

I copy that.

Well done, Corporal Toba. Don't take any unnecessary risks. Over and out.

Post Battle

Wei's Infantry, Recon, and Supply all increased to A.

John's Supply increased to S.

Jun levels up to 10, increases to 6 MAX points, and ranks up his Shooter to A.

Ippei's Mech and Supply raised to A.

Emilio levels up to 13, increasing his Shooter and Supply to A.

A lot of meh. Doesn't nearly replace the Hyper Infantry and two Wires I lost.

Karma Encampment

Matilda, any news?

Yes. Karma Base has been completely destroyed...the situation is hopeless.

How about our provisions?

Unfortunately...

What?!

Sorry to interrupt, Colonel. I have urgent news.

Go ahead.

We could not confirm any survivors. All exits and entrances were blocked off...fire must have got most of them. Most of the others probably died from smoke inhalation...most probably poisonous gas. I hate to admit it, but there is nothing we can do.

Hey! Anybody...over here!

Yeah, I'm on my way!

Reporting...regarding the Karma Base, it seems there is considerable damage to the base interior. A substantional amount of explosive were probably needed to do such damage. A close assessment of the area shows that the explosives were set in the central area of the base, the munitions storage area, and the maintenace facilities.

Most places seem to have been blown twice, as if to do a thorough job.

...Damn.

It's the handiwork of a pro or maybe someone in the inside. Corporal, you're dismissed.

Yes, sir!

Someone on the inside...a spy? ...no way.

That's right! Are you implying that there is a spy within Karma? Don't underestimate us!

Well, it was either that or John explained 4th of July really poorly.

Don't be stupid! We're just talking about the possibility. Cone on, be realistic!

John, don't lose your temper. I think the possibility is pretty high. There must have been a person released from the Morioka Prison Camp who is the saboteur.

But why? Why do you think so?

Who was undercover at the Morioka Prison Camp?

....

Kaiho...

WHAT?! How...wha...what?! Wei, for fuck's sake!

Tune in next tim-oh goddamnit, I can't think after that nutter job conclusion. Kaiho?! Really, Wei?!
