Hmm, well, it's different, but it's not exactly amazing. None of its stats scream impressive, but it has a good Special Attack and a passable Attack, as well as okay Defenses. Speed is where it falls and means it takes a lot of hits, but it probably won't die immediately. It can use a lot of different special attacks, including Psybeam for level up at 12, and BoltBeam, or even Psychic. But that's really about it. If you don't use TMs, then you're stuck with two attacking moves until level 36. Not amazing and even then it's Tri Attack, so not the best move for you. So it's a bit less of a gimmick than last gen, since it can also evolve, but it's still not amazing. Not bad, but not amazing.
