Righto, we'll be playing this on Normal. This is a rom hack so I'm still expecting rom hack bullshit in this.

Not much about this has changed. I can't read enough Japanese so I'll just show off any new faces that pop up.

Like Ced (FE5) here replacing Hayden, the king of Frelia.

Say hello to our first new character. If you don't know him, I'll introduce him in a short bit.

And here's a Franz replacement, Lance from FE6. We'll get him next chapter.

Events are mostly unchanged. The main tool used for event editing in the English community doesn't have a translated version in Japan, to the best of my knowledge. Not sure what they use.

That fight went about as well as Wyvern vs. Thief ever does. The map is unchanged from the original prologue but if it's been a while, here.

Alright, let's take a look at our new friend now...

It's Sothe from FE10 (Radiant Dawn). He was basically the strong, over levelled unit you got near the start of the game, your Jeigan/Oifey. He's also a thief. Here, he's pretty decent but I would probably have preferred Seth. Still good.

If you're familiar with FE8's stat screen, this one is actually a bit different. In order from top to bottom, the left column is:

You may have noticed that Resistance is missing. That's because Midori uses the same implementation of Resistance as Thracia. Namely, our Magic stat doubles as our Resistance. So physical units still want Magic to avoid taking as much damage from mages.

Eirika hasn't changed much. She's still fast and weak, though she'll catch up with a few levels.

Eirika's trusty Rapier is still here and the JP version uses a cute star to signify character locked weapons instead of the NA version's Prf.

I felt like bringing this up because Sothe gets his own Prf for some reason.. It's not very good either. But the Kard is kind of neat, I guess.

Here's a neat weapon ranks screen. The fact that they fixed this, letting physical and magical weapons display on the same screen, is a pretty good sign that we're getting physical/magical hybrid units.

We start the map off by just waiting and letting the fighter come to us.

Not only is this fighter made of beef, he also manages to hit us on Turn 2.

Eirika retreats back a little and uses her Vulnerary to heal up. Vulneraries are now 6 uses so I feel fine using them. Sothe blocks the way so she doesn't die.

He finishes off the weakened fighter and kills the second one in one round. Sothe is notably stronger than Eirika right now. That Steel Sword also helps a lot.

I was bothered by how strong the generics were so I took a look at the boss.

He's a lot stronger than in vanilla FE8. O'Neill is +10 HP, +5 STR, +3 SKL, +2 SPD and +3 DEF compared to his original incarnation. He's still using an Iron Axe thankfully.

Sothe lures him in and well, basically rips him in half. He also gets enough XP for his first level!

It's STR, SKL and LCK. Not bad. If you don't know which stat is what on this screen, it's just this:

HP LCK
STR DEF
SKL MAG
SPD CON

Don't worry about memorising it, I'll tell you what they get on each level up. Just in case you wanted to know.

Anyway, Eirika finishes off O'Neill.

Terrible level, she only got a point of HP.

I haven't really shown off much here, so let's jump ahead to the next chapter.

Cecilia on the right from FE6 is currently in the middle of nowhere looking for something.

Then this punk comes along, gets a critical with a 0% chance and kills her despite the fact the critical would've only dealt 27 points of damage. They didn't bother changing this scripted battle. These are a pain to modify, I don't really mind.

We shuffle along. There's nothing in the bottom right where we start, all the action's in the top left.

Speaking of reinforcements, we've got some friends.

We've seen Lance before, but this time we brought Bors with him. Bors is an Armor Knight from FE6, I only remember him for being awful and his chin.

It is a very nice chin though.

Bors is alright here. He's still an Armor Knight so he's a touch slow but he's got good bulk and I could use a wall right now.

We saw Lance earlier, he's a Cavalier from FE6. As a Cavalier, he's got good movement, his strength/speed is decent but his defence looks a little low. It'll be fine though, Eirika's survived with half his defence.

Bors slaps this soldier and just shrugs off the counter attack. Not bad.

By the way, XP gain in Midori has been increased. A normal fight gives you 20 XP, a kill gives you 50 XP.

Lance kills the soldier with his lance dropping to 13 HP in the process. I'm not too sure why, but Midori has implemented a skill called Canto. Canto lets certain classes use up any movement they haven't already used this turn. So Lance kills the soldier and jumps back to Fort where the defence bonuses means the Fighter can't kill him.

Canto's from FE9/10 off the top of my head. I wonder why they put it in since GBA cavaliers were already one of the strongest classes. Probably just did it to show they could.

Sothe kills another fighter. I don't mind giving him too much XP, I need to make things safe now.

Lance gets hit by the Fighter's attack and yep, the 2 points of defence from the fort saved his life. Cheers, canto.

Ew, 2 pegasi spawned in the top right corner. I leave Sothe on the fort to kill them. They'll do a lot of damage to Eirika and it's game over if she dies. So Sothe will kill them first.

Sothe kills both of them on the enemy phase. Bors and a fighter also miss each other off in the distance.

Sothe gets a bad level from the pegasi. Just skill and luck.

Back on our turn, I gamble on a kill with the Kard but Sothe doesn't crit. Oh well, Sothe's not in danger.

This cavalier actually managed to kill Eirika in another run. He's got a Javelin, so he can chuck that from 2 spaces away. He managed to hit Eirika in a forest, quite annoying.

Lance finishes off the fighter that missed Bors.

HP, SKL, LCK. On one hand you need all of those, but on the other hand, you also need other things...

Sothe manages to crit a fighter on the counter attack. He also leaves a soldier on the verge of death.

HP, STR, SKL, LCK, MAG. Not bad, but I want to start seeing some SPD soon.

One of the fighters has a Hand Axe and chucks it at Sothe from afar. How annoying.

And this cavalier misses Eirika. That Javelin would've dealt 12 if she wasn't standing in a forest and got hit. A javelin cavalier is not nice so early in the game.

Sothe goes back to the fort and heals. He's neutered most of the threat here, I wanted Eirika to get some XP.

Eirika kills the cavalier.

Bors and Lance move towards the castle.

Eirika dodges a Hand Axe and attacks him from his right.

Sothe finishes off this soldier who's running away. I don't want him to decide that he wants to try fighting Eirika instead.

Bors lures in a soldier from the castle and gets a level on the counter.

I don't know why I keep forgetting to catch Bors in action but he deserves it. HP only level.

Eirika finishes off the fighter and gets SPD, LCK on her level. Could be worse.

Lance kills a soldier and gets a nice level. HP, SKL, SPD, LCK. I hope he does pick up some STR/DEF soon though, his bases won't hold out forever.

Some reinforcements come in so Lance equips his sword and waits for them in the forest.

The soldier hits him, but he's not in too much danger. He brings a fighter and the soldier down to half HP.

Bors kills the soldier for a good level. HP, STR, SKL, SPD, LCK.

Sothe also killed a fighter but Eirika got hit. These buffed fighters really hurt.

She can't take on the boss this turn because of it. The vulnerary only heals 10 HP on use, we take 2 turns to heal and then wait for him to attack us.

Ugh, I'd have to use the vulnerary twice again if I wanted Eirika to kill...

Bors isn't doing much to the boss.

So I just risk it with Eirika. Game over if she fails but she manages to kill Breguet.

STR, SKL. STR is always appreciated on Eirika but this I want to see some more SPD on her soon.

Anyway, the rest of the cutscenes aren't too different.

Instead of Hayden, we have Fury (FE4) here. I wonder where Ced went, he was around in the world map's introduction.

On the right, we have Fee (FE4), Ced's little sister and Fury's daughter, replacing Tana.

So, we haven't seen much of Midori yet, but it's got a lot more. I don't have a regular update schedule planned for this, it's more of a side thing. But I'll definitely showing off more.

And I'll have to explain this later too.
