You think you've seen something legendary up until now? Remember your place, mortal. With insane bulk, modest attacking stats and a good movepool, Lugia is definitely one dangerous customer. Sure, its attacking stats are its lowest, but 90 is still perfectly acceptable, as it gets good moves to go along with those stats. Unlike most Pokemon with a split typing between physical and special, Lugia doesn't give a shit due to Aeroblast and Psychic. Add in an extensive movepool of both physical and special moves including Blizzard, Earthquake, Shadow Ball, Dragonbreath, Thunder, etc, etc, and you've got something that can start rolling very quickly.
Of course, we also need to go over its excellent defensive stats, allowing it to takes hits all day long, especially when you add Recover into its set. Whirlwind and Curse can also ensure that it'll get no interruptions while it becomes the harbinger of destruction. Its typing does give it a fair few weaknesses, but the only one it really needs to worry about is Ghost or Rock, and even then they don't do much against its Defense. And its weaknesses to Dark, Electric and Ice don't matter much against that beastly Special Defense. Could you imagine if this Pokemon got Amnesia last gen? I shudder to think. While it's not as out of the gate as some other legendaries, it's still something that will wreck your shit given the opportunity.
