So from the intro we were brought to a decimated future and given a magic spirit journey quest from a robed gent. But was it real or just a horrible fantasy? Well for now let's just assume it's real and get on to the task of killing. Before we get started though, let's see what items we currently have in our inventory.

That certainly is a lot of items to start the game with, and we even get an unnecessary breakdown of what our hero Ryan is wearing. Now the items marked with the small "w" in a circle are things we're currently equipped with (so there is the strong possibility that we were sleeping just now fully dressed and wearing our shoes), but there are also plenty of other items to look at. Such as chewing gum, a watch, and some sunglasses. Clearly only one of these items has an actual purpose.

Nothing compliments a prophetic savor of all humanity more than a trenchcoat and a pair of unnecessary shades.
But with our kickin' rad shades on, it's time to get to the real point of any good adventure game. Pixel hunting and red herrings. So let's start rummaging around the room for anything not nailed down.

You read the title and it says "Mortal Mask".

So we will be finding plenty of items in our journeys through Dreamweb and about 90% of them are absolutely useless. Thankfully the game is nice enough to block off actually picking up most of these junk items, but it'll make sure you read a lot of text before you understand that the item is useless. Take this book for example; it's not really plot relevant but it does name drop a real life fantasy novel written by Stephen Marley. He also wrote the supplementary material for this game which I'll be posting in the OP.

For the most part though we'll be ignoring those useless filler items (unless they are stupidly wonderful necessary to saving humanity) and instead let's get our first plot necessary item. This incredibly easy to see wallet on the desk.

By examining and opening up the wallet, we find three items; a cashcard, a photo, and a list.

Now the cashcard is fairly obvious, it's an ATM card and it's the future replacement for money. And it may not seem apparent but we'll definitely be needing it for later. So we'll just pop that into our inventory.

It appears that our Ryan is a tad bit forgetful and needs to write down important numbers sometimes. This number is especially important as we'd be block from getting into Ryan's apartment otherwise, and it's actually really easy to miss this wallet among all the items on the desk.

And our final item is the photo. Now while this item isn't particularly needed for the plot, it does remind us that we are in our girlfriend's apartment and we've just been meandering about ignoring her in bed.

Oh....you probably didn't immediately see her mess of pixels lying in bed. Welp, now that we remember let's go ahead and see how she's doing.
