Welcome to the team, green Natasha. It's Safy from Thracia, except I forgot to get her stats before the battle. She's a healer, nothing fancy.

I remembered to grab an overview of the map before I started, pity I took 4 weeks to start writing this update.

I think this is an early Thracia map, might be Chapter 1. I never played Thracia, I'm not sure.

Guy starts below us, he's standing in front of the arena. He's not particularly difficult to get, but he sure looks dangerous!

Pursuit and his good speed lets him double most of our entire army, Adept means he has (skill*2)% chance to throw out another attack and Ambush means we risk a hit (or two) if we attack him. Luckily, we won't be doing that.

And yeah, he has a Killing Edge. So each hit of his has the potential to be catastrophic for us.

And hey, this fellow?

3-10, it's Bolting.

Huge range, good damage and this is pretty early to be fighting siege tomes. But it's actually pretty easy to deal with this too.

Elincia goes for the left isolated village while the rest of our army goes into the middle.

Minus Sothe who has business elsewhere.

There's a fair few bandits on this map. This first set is no trouble, but we do need to get to the corner villages quick. It's why I sent Elincia and Sothe out.

These guys aren't ambush spawns, so we can clean them out pretty easily.

It was a nice crit, but I'd like more than just HP and SKL.

Ray hits on a 60% hit chance and Eirika crits so this poor bandit is down.

The people on the side continue towards the village, Othin takes the forest because he's dodgy and the only people attacking him won't have a weapon triangle advantage on him.

Bolting guy has moved to attack Elincia. Unfortunately for him, Elincia does not care about him in the least.

The fighter and the archer move to attack Othin but they don't do much and Othin nearly kills the fighter.

And that's the Bolting mage dead. Prepromotes are cool, especially when they have 9 move and can reach siege jerks in one turn.

Lugh kills the fighter and Lance goes into the new opening to hit the archer for an excellent level. HP, STR, SKL, SPD. That defence is still looking concerning though.

Lance holds the choke for this turn and we just move up.

An archer hits Lugh and he loses half his HP but he kills and gets a level in return. HP, SPD.

Lance kills a soldier who misses, but the fighter and archer after him hit. And the fighter hit for 14 damage. Ouch.

Next turn, we broke through and Ray just sits there to hit that soldier.

Not super fond of this little choke. It makes it even harder for Nephenee to get through, and 4 move is rough enough.

Ray finishes off the soldier.

Elincia finally visits the top left village. Hi, Nino.

We get a copy of Aircalibur which I'm going to give to Lugh eventually since he's our only anima user at the moment.

I mean, Nino can use anima too but we don't get her for a bit.

Othin counterkills a soldier, gets HP, SPD as a level. Normally I'd be all over SPD on a fighter but axes are heavy and he's going to be taking speed penalties if he doesn't fix that strength.

Sothe has just been over here, heading over to the village.

A brigand makes the mistake of attacking Sothe and dies to our oddly slow Thief. HP, STR, SKL, LUC.

Poor Nephenee gets doubled. Could be worse, could get killed in one round.

Did you know Ewan in vanilla FE8 gets killed in one round by a myrm with an Iron Sword?

He has 5 speed, myrm base speed is 9. He has 0 def, the myrmidon has 9 attack (4 from STR, 5 from the weapon) and Ewan has 15 HP.

Poor Ewan.

Just SKL? Don't make me pull Vanessa back in, she flies and has lances.

We clear out some more people and I prepare Elincia to pull in Guy.

She, uh, does quite well. I would've just walked Safy up but JP FE8 will let Joshua attack Natasha (compared to NA FE8 where he doesn't attack her) and I didn't feel like risking that.

Safy recruits Guy. I'm not sure how much is changed here, it seems to follow the same general structure as Joshua's recruitment but Guy gambling seems strange to me.

HP only. Both of you twins are lucky that I don't have any alternatives for mages.

othin please

Lance fights a bandit and then gets a level off the 1 XP you get when you can't fight back.

SKL, SPD, MAG.

Lance, I'm going to give you that Dracoshield when I get it.

HP, LUC, DEF. You're kinda squishy so this is a good level.

Nice, nice, armorslayer from the village. I'll put this to use one day, maybe.

Safy's been healing people, I just haven't been mentioning it. STR, SKL, LCK, MAG. I'd like some HP/DEF but it has MAG + SKL so good level.

STR, SPD, LCK,

She got hit by a Fighter for 14 points of damage out of 19 HP but she got STR so I'll take it.

Ray kills the fighter that hit Eirika, gets HP, SPD, LCK. SPD is good.

It's at this point that I finally realise the soldier is actually standing on a village. Can't let you do that, bandit.

Lance visits Ninian. He's not going to be doing much more on this map, so he's just grabbing this.

Might sell it, might use it. Not too sure.

Sothe grabs this village.

Secret Book. I know someone who'll want the +2 SKL from this.

The brigand died to Elincia on the enemy phase, she kills the soldier sitting on the village on our turn.

HP, SKL, LCK. Sure, sure.

That soldier was sitting on a very special village.

We had to send Othin down to grab this.

Say hello to Thracia's Pugi!

10 Mt, 30 Crit, 1-2 and low weight too. This used to be Othin's exclusive weapon back in Thracia but I'm guessing the Midori developers didn't feel like implementing a new prf lock. So instead, Pugi is just an E rank axe that literally any one can use.

It's real good. Othin is a great candidate for it and he's our only axe user currently, so he'll be keeping it.

Let's take this for a spin, then.

noice

The boss comes over and dies to Othin.

HP, SKL, LCK. Eh, it'll do.

Next time, we jump to a new set of characters.
