Monster Hunter: World is Capcom's latest addition to the long-running Monster Hunter series of games, which started back on the PS2 in 2004. Monster Hunter is a relatively slow-paced hack-and-slash game all about, well, hunting monsters using big weapons and making equipment out of monster parts, which are then used to hunt tougher monsters. Huge in its native Japan, MH has historically struggled to get big in the West due to its somewhat-justified jank and graphical limitations once it became a mostly-handheld franchise. World is the first game in the fifth generation of games, released in January 2018 on PS4/Xbox (Autumn 2018 for PC), and has become Capcom's best selling game ever. With its many quality-of-life improvements, World has been the most accessible Monster Hunter yet, and many peoples' first time foraying into the series, including myself. If you want to check out some other MonHun LPs, have a look at Wethamster's Freedom, Freedom Unite and Tri LPs in the archive, or Silver Falcon's current run of Generations as a kitty cat.

About this LP:
I'm aiming to show off the story mode of World, alongside any relevant, novel or exciting optional quests and miscellaneous arena quests/event quests/whatever along the way. Fights and story will be in video, whilst any supplementary information like item descriptions, equipment stats and basic weapon guides will be posts. Whilst the story is a bit barebones, I think it's serviceable and deserves to be shown off alongside the amazing gameplay. I'm hoping to show off all 14 weapons at least once, and whilst I can't promise competency with all of them I can hopefully show enough basic knowledge to not make those weapon experts riot. With that little introduction over, let's hop to it!

Spoiler policy:
Whilst MH:World does not have the strongest of stories, I would still like it to be judged on its own merits as things come up. There are just a couple of simple rules:
1) Do not discuss a monster before it has shown up. It doesn't have to be a mission focused on it, but please wait until it shows up on video before talking about it. I don't care if it's on the cover art, don't talk about it until we see it.
2) If a monster has shown up, keep World fight mechanics in spoilers until we fight it. You're free to talk about other things like design or how it acted in previous games outside of spoilers.
