Update 10
Last time I accomplished nothing of note! Let’s try and improve on that this time around.

Day 33

The week of the trolls earlier blocked access to that Gazebo.

Finally we’ve found green! Tomorrow Kalindra will try and take over the green castle.

Ambrose isn’t a very impressive hero to look at, so we're not that worried.

Let’s blind the cavaliers.

And everyone waits while we pelt the pikemen with toxic balls of death.

In typical AI fashion the cavalry is unblinded by dispel and gets a morale boost allowing them to cross over in a single turn. I guess my Power Liches are toast.

This is not the horse having a severe case of indigestion, this is the top power lich attacking. The cavalry is a large creature and no matter where you click the ball always targets the back part, so my own liches are safe while their buddies help out. Can't these guys call a Megadeath zord or something?

Like I said, my liches are goners. But the vampire lords will keep trying.

Seeing my mummies get lucky strike makes me smile and ironically they curse the enemy as well. Seeing a cursed creature get lucky never ceases to amuse me.

The mummies put the last pikemen to rest with the classic eyes closed by moving your hand over them scene.

And with this we win, but lose some power (liches).

Well, this update is off to a galloping start.

We can almost reach the last one.

Time to scare him off, maybe you’ll even see steel golems in action.

Day 34

Well, that backfired spectacularly. Agar ran past me and into my unguarded castle. Good thing I bought everything.

Give that back please. His army is a lot of low level junk.

I fostered a slight hope that the halflings would survive and bring the sprites into range of the golems. No such luck.

I keep casting cold ray on the enemy centaurs. That stack is dangerously large.

Blind is such a terrible spell to be on the receiving end off.

Fortunately these things are tanks.

We'll keep it short on the golems as PC Snob already talked a lot about them. They're basically the wizards going:
"What if dwarves were tall, bald and made out of steel? Also, they don't do that random resisting magic thing and instead resist 50% of the damage of elemental spells."
"Brilliant!"
I don't use them very often because I like speed and even upgraded they're still only slow. Still, they make great garrison units.
They have a very mediocre upgrade if you ask me. Only 2 points in attack, 5 hp and a +1 to speed.

And despite getting pelted with arrows each turn, like most things, this ends with a steel fist to the face.

Victory and I have my castle back.

Meanwhile Rialdo went out for a walk and immediately yellow came at us with two weak heroes. So back home you go Rialdo.

Why do I have the feeling that I will end with just my dwarves left.
Lightning bolt!

My halflings die immediately and the next favorite target are my rocs. Well, they want to fight the half birds things and half horse people. Killing the latter on the spot for not being part bird.

The way the dwarves swing their axes will never get old. It's such a meaty swing. Even in these fairly simple graphics it just feels like they're chopping as best they can.

Wild boars are the natural enemy of the hydra!

Half a bird has no chance against a full bird. So after winning they go eat some snakes for dessert.

Win! A new castle.

+1 spell power and we get some extra luck.

I wish I could do that in my garden.

New spells for Kalindra.

I don't usually add subtitles after something has occurred because I like seeing myself be wrong. However in this case I made an exception and removed what I originally said for a very simple reason: This vampire is the best vampire.

This battle took three rounds and all of his retaliations were lucky strikes during this entire siege.

The others were there as well. This battle does highlight to me that 4 vampire lords is short of the magical number where they become mostly self sufficient.
I wish mummies were faster, I like them but they’re just not good enough to be good.

New castle!
I would guess that that leaves yellows mystery castle and possible another village, probably in the hands of orange. Annoyingly, unlike most maps this map isn't symmetrical so I can't simply say where the enemy castles are. However an educated guess based on enemy movement tells me the village should be somewhere to the upper left of the knight castle while the yellow castle should be in the center since I see a lot of movement in that area. Here, I have highlighted several points of interest it on the minimap.

1: Yellow castle?
2: Orange village/castle?
3: Avoid, possible Lizard stronghold.

Day 35

"I’d like to get into the castle now."
Actually, I have a better idea.

See, sir Gallant can’t reach the enemy, but what we can do is move him all the way over there and then let Kastore steal his units.

Like this.

Hilariously, haste just bumps up the speed by two so the zombies tie with my rocs in speed. The rocs got the first turn, attacked the orcs (I only just noticed that orcs is rocs spelled wrong) and upon retaliation killed the speedy zombies. Spell points well spent.

Ready, Aim…

Victory!

Wilfrey’s army was strengthened slightly by adding rangers to it. Hopefully it’s enough for what I want him to do.

Kalindra slowly leaves her new castle behind and starts scouting.

Meanwhile, I discover I’m rich and should invest some money for Rialdo. I’ll start by buying another marketplace in a different town and exchanging resources.

Bone dragons!

Now for even more offense! We immediately spot one of the offending heroes.

Day 36

A new week. I wonder what happened to the lizards.
Wait, is that orange I see down there?

So Flint is hired because he has an artifact and Kalindra can use some extra units.

And they trade so Kalindra can go mess up that yellow hero.

It’s not very impressive. We lightning bolt the cavalry and await their move.

This is going well.

What is the sound of one horseback breaking?

I had my griffins retreat. When the swordsmen retaliated they were left with 2 hp and I’d like to finish this without losses. I did blind the swordsmen allowing the dwarfs to waddle on over.

Look at these poor miserable men. I’d better put them out of their misery.

Victory!

So I guess they didn’t have another castle. I wonder if that means my map is wrong and there isn't another castle.

And now we converge to the center of the map.

Wait what? This barbarian castle not only has dragons, but it hasn’t been claimed yet. So why hasn’t yellow expired yet. Is that second castle that I thought orange had actually in the hands of yellow?

And two steps later I get my answer.
Go get them Wilfrey!

The battle of the badly matched armies.

Lucky strikes on vampires don’t make me chuckle like the other undead can, but it makes for it by being awesome.

Odds of mummies doing anything are approximately three thousand seven hundred and twenty to one.

The vampires were lost to a lightning bolt. Sometimes this game feels like a lightning bolt competition.

We pick the yin yang symbol. Man I could’ve had phoenixes this map as well.

Really? But I haven’t seen any obelisks.

Day 37

Kastore learns the art of sightseeing.

The stragglers have been found.

Why did I do this? Why do I suddenly realise that my last save was two days ago.

Let’s suit up the bone dragons. They should be able to do some good damage on the reds or the greens. Red meanwhile found their priority. Those 6 halflings were indeed terrifying.

My goblin stack is going to be key in this battle. They halved the dragons health.

The skeletons managed to half the remaining HP leaving the reds with just 50 left.

DRAGON PARTY! (this killed my bone dragon)

NO! Bad goblins!

Instead of casting defensively I lightning bolt the orcs this round. This leaves one of them alive. I primarily did this because even if we defeat the dragon we still need to find a way past the walls and considering my luck at besieging I can see myself lose if I don't weaken or kill them now.

My goblins beat their goblins easily. Oddly the green dragon suddenly decided it would rather attack the massive threat the mutant zombies were posing. Their loss as my goblins beat the last dragon down to 10 HP.

Which is well within range for my skeletons.

Now we swarm! NO! Bad goblins!

That was fun but useless.

This was so worth it.

Replacement parts for the army.

And tomorrow I dine on yellow soup. What flavor would that be? Mustard? Lemon? Mustard lemon?

Day 37

Every day is a winding road.

Somehow this seems fitting. Ugly scout turned soldier hunts down one of the last fleeing enemies.

I’ll save you this snorefest.

Last call!

Nice hero, terrible army.

Coming from her spell power cold ray is doing some hefty damage to my army. Fortunately, I have loads of goblins. Unfortunately, I can’t cast spells. I’m out of spell points.

I still love the tribalesque walking sound the goblins make. They easily kill the boars and my gaggle of orcs or is that a herd of orcs…anyway, these porklike humans shoot the dwarves.

Cold ray just decimated my pile of skeletons. The halflings at least aren’t much of a threat.

Why are dwarves so sturdy.

Fortunately, my goblins have just the thing. A long stick with nails. PC Snob already said it, but goblins are actually pretty good for a first level unit. They just have the problem of not being ranged and having no specials like the sprites.

I think all these losses came from cold ray.

Hurray! They can serve as waiters for our victory party!

Victory!

I think this map highlights how debilitatingly expensive the Wizard faction is, I didn’t even get giants. At least the golems saw action.
Next time we see what this stupid disco light is trying to tell me.
