Update 94: Drake

I just don’t get how some people can act that way...

Alright, so now we’re taking on Drake. Once you get to the post-game, you can take on any of the dragons in any order. And your first dragon is gonna be a bit of a hurdle.

End of the line, I suppose.

I hate to say this, but I think this is about as good as I can get.

Tch! What do you mean I can’t get any better!?

Hmm, I suppose even a queen has her limitations.

Is this truly as strong as we can get?

If you’re having trouble with your first dragon, you can’t really grind past the problem since the level cap is 70 in this game. Fortunately, there are various methods you can do to get past that obstacle, which I’ll cover later. First, we need to prepare for Drake.

Time to use another coupon.

Edie, can you please stop drooling!? That’s really really gross!

Can she even hear us over the sound of all these Ental jingling?

Wow, Alice put in a lot of work this time, huh?

I did a lot of farming in the 6th Stratum, and now I have this much en to spend. The reason I farmed for that?

Hee hee! I got a really good feeling about this baby! Just look at how big it is!

I’m now buying the party’s ultimate equipment whenever possible. First I snag Sidney’s ultimate weapon. 199 attack power is pretty huge, and in terms of raw attack power, it’s the 3rd strongest weapon in the game. It also provides +15% maximum TP, which Sidney will definitely appreciate, and +9 accuracy, which is nice if you didn’t invest all that much into Proper Form.

Royal, intimidating, and durable! Perfect for someone like me!

Snrk. I-intimidating? P-p-pfft!

Oh, wipe that contorted smile off your face!

+10% maximum HP is nice, but MEGAQUEEN will appreciate the +10% maximum TP more. 130 defense also means that it’s the 2nd strongest piece of defensive equipment in the game. Unfortunately due to how armor works in the game, that’s not really as nice as it sounds. Still, it’s something alright.

Flexible and practical. I’ll take it!

I also snag the Berserk Leather for Rose. +2 STR and +5% maximum HP are both nice stats for her to have, on top of the large amount of defense.

Clothes do make the Ninja. I wish to purchase this, please!

+1 AGI and LUC, and +2 speed are all nice attributes for a Ninja to have. I also got this for him because Akatsuki is very fragile, and I want him to have all the defense he can for the upcoming fight. He gets one-shot otherwise.

Using a weapon to bolster my defenses. I suppose that’s a bit ironic.

The Trident comes with +10% maximum HP, +10% maximum TP, and +2 VIT. Making it a very nice piece of defensive equipment (despite being a weapon.) At least those forges are related to the classes that make use of it. Though that 190 ATK is a bit wasted on Hoplites and Wildlings.

That’s all the preparations I wanted to make. Let’s go dragon slaying.

This is the team that was voted in.

Drake is in the 5th Stratum, so it’s time to head there.

The knight’s smile is friendly, but her stance is guarded. You can see she is a trained warrior.

Hello there, Miss Knight. We are all known as the Tidehunt Guild. And you are...?

My name is Wealh. I’m a dragon hunter, come to Armoroad on the advice of the holy dragon Elder. Do you know much about dragons? They’ve lived since the time of the gods... They’re the embodiment of human fears and terrors. My family have hunted these dragons for generations... We’re a long line of dragonslayers. So, one day I heard a strange voice echoing in my head... It said the three most powerful dragons had resurrected in this ocean city. Anyway, I’m getting off track. Where was I...? Oh yes, you wouldn’t happen to know where the ice dragon on this Stratum is, do you?

I’m afraid we don’t. I mean we just arrived here.

You answer honestly that you do not, and the knight Wealh’s shoulders slump.

Alright... Sorry to bother you, then. Looks like I’ll just have to keep hunting! Thanks!

With that, Wealh leaves, eager to resume her search for the ice dragon.

Guess we got some competition in this whole dragon hunting business.

I-is she really gonna do this all by herself? From what I heard, they’re not all that easy to take down...

Maybe she’s that skilled. Or really reckless.

We don’t have to go too far to get to Drake.

You might notice that this room has no FOEs in it now. There’s a reason for that.

My, we do seem to run into each other a lot. My inquiries into the ice dragon have led me here... Which means this place will fast become a battlefield. You should leave this to a specialist.

As usual, she is smiling on the surface, but the ferocity in her eyes prevents you from refusing. Still, you are reluctant to accept her insistence that you must go back to town...

Pick no here, unless you want to waste even more time than you have to.

...Let me get this straight. You wanna take on the ice dragon. All by yourself. Are you crazy!? I mean, can’t we at least help?

You return her stare and tell her firmly that you cannot acquiesce to her demands. Wealh glares at you for long minutes, her irritation palpable, but she eventually relents.

Well... the Labyrinth isn’t my property, it’s true. And the same could be said for the ice dragon. You have the look of skilled warriors yourself. We’d do each other no favors quarrelling.

Wealh laughs, but trails off as she quickly drops her pack and rummages through it.

Uhh, something wrong?

Dammit! My dragonslaying spear... I must have forgotten the Dragon Killer at the Armoroad inn! If I don’t have that, we can’t beat that dragon even WITH your help! Can you go get the Dragon Killer from the inn!? I’ll wait right here. I’m counting on you!

Um, sure, if you say so. We’ll be sure to return as quickly as possible.

You assume that if an experienced dragonslayer like her says so, the Dragon Killer must be necessary. Hence, you promise her that you’ll return quickly from the Armoroad inn with her spear.

If we come back here without going to the inn...

Don’t worry about keeping me waiting, just go! Er, sorry to order you around like this...

My, you certainly are a pushy one, aren’t you?

You decide to hurry back and retrieve the Dragon Killer she says she left at the inn.

Yeah, kid could ya hurry? We got some important business to get back to.

That’s weird... I don’t remember her leaving anything like that with -us. Hang on a sec, okay?

The innkeeper leaves.

And comes back.

Must have been a misunderstanding somewhere... Maybe you should talk to Miss Wealh again?

Sheesh, now what are we gonna do? How are we supposed to take down the dragon without the Dragon Killer? You didn’t tell us about needing anything like that, Sidney!

Hey, don’t look at me like that! I never even heard of a dragon slaying spear... before... No way...

Did she just...?

Oh no. You don’t mean to say- Is she mad!?

Considering that she was all by herself when she was hunting for the dragon, I wouldn’t rule out that possibility. Let’s get moving! Now!

Could she have been deceiving you for some reason...? You feel a sense of foreboding... Hurry to the Fifth Stratum and check on Wealh!

We need to head back to where we last saw Wealh.

By the way, did you know that Wealh had a brother? His name was Flasgul/Hrothgar (depends on the translation.)

He was a character in EO2/EO2U that led a guild called Beowulf. He and a Beast named Kurogane/Wulfgar were the only members of it by the time you came along. He was sort of a mentor-like figure, teaching new guilds, like yourself, the ropes of exploring the Labyrinth.

Both he and his Beast companion ended up dying to the boss of the 1st Stratum because they thought they could take it on 2v1.

Within the raging blizzard inside, you see Wealh leaning on her sword against the blue beast’s onslaught!

...A-a-a-are you serious?

Oh n-n-no, don’t tell me we’re too l-l-late.

That figure wreathed in absolute-zero air must be the ice dragon, your given ordeal! When you’re about to rush to Wealh’s side, she stops you, her hoarse voice faint as a whisper...

The ice dragon cruelly strikes Wealh down before she can finish and she collapses to the ground!

And like her brother, Wealh goes down like an idiot because she thought she could solo a dragon. Good going, Wealh.

Mmm, I don’t think we can get to her with that dragon in the way.

Then let’s take it out fast!

Here’s my party setup. Most people would probably be wearing resistance accessories instead of armor, and would probably be at the level cap by now. I am not most people.

Also here’s my Limit setup. By the way, I highly recommend watching the upcoming video.

Alright, let’s finish the job that she star-

Video: Drake

Are you telling me that she didn’t even land a single scratch on that thing!?

I... I don’t even know what to say to that.

Let’s take a more detailed look at Drake.

Drake is a recurring post-game boss in the series, and in the first two games, he was considered to be the hardest one to take down. Not in this game, he’s considered to be the easiest one here. The main reason for that? He doesn’t have his AOE instant death skill he had in the first two games. Instead that got exchanged for an AOE physical attack that can head bind your party. As a result, he’s a much less hairy fight. Granted if you’re making use of Ice Prophecy to deal with Frigid, that would be something to worry about. In all other cases, it’ll lock your casters and healers out of the battle, so that could be annoying. The TEC reduction from the head bind is inconsequential, as the only TEC-based attack Drake has is Frigid, and that’s gonna kill you anyway if it hits.

Drake’s AI Script posted:

On the 1st turn:
-79% chance to cast Frigid. (Standard targeting.)
-21% chance to cast Iceblock. (Targets self.)

If self has head bound, cast Shower. (Standard targeting.)

If self does not have the Iceblock buff, 29% chance to cast Iceblock. (Targets self.)

If self does not have the Regen buff, and HP is below 51%, 59% chance to cast Regen (Level 3) on turns that are multiples of 2. (Targets self.)

If HP is above 10%, cast Frigid on turns that are multiples of 5. (Standard targeting.)

From 100% to 76% HP:
-29% chance to cast Ice Crush. (Standard targeting.)
-71% chance to cast Shower. (Standard targeting.)

From 75% to 51% HP:
-39% chance to cast Ice Crush. (Standard targeting.)
-61% chance to cast Shower. (Standard targeting.)

From 50% to 26% HP:
-59% chance to cast Ice Crush. (Standard targeting.)
-31% chance to cast Shower. (Standard targeting.)

From 25% HP to death:
-29% chance to cast Ice Crush. (Standard targeting.)
-71% chance to cast Shower. (Standard targeting.)

It’s amazing just how one piece of scripting can be so much of a fuck you to the player. As I said in the last update, Iceblock is a huge pain to deal with, and there is nothing you can really do to stop it from coming out. You can’t really prevent it from coming out by exploiting Drake’s AI, since it’s the 3rd thing it checks for. Okay sure, head binds and leg binds can stop Drake from casting it, but seriously using disables at this point in the game is really not a good idea.

Oh, and once you’ve dropped its HP below half, it breaks out Regen, which restores its HP. This is why you want buff dispels. If both that and Iceblock get on Drake, he can restore 6816 to 6836 HP, if nothing is done about it. And that can be a major setback, depending on your team composition. Shower is also really annoying to deal with since that’s another way Drake can deny your party turns due to the stun component. One last thing to note is that Drake casts Frigid on the 1st turn (most of the time) and on turns that are multiples of 5, so have your elemental nullifier get to work on those turns.

Anyways, if you’ve got the methods to deal with the dragon breaths, the first turn is pretty much a freebie to do whatever. Just hope that Drake doesn’t cast Iceblock on the first turn, because that can slow the fight to a screeching halt right off the bat.

Setting up a safety net for Sidney in case something goes wrong. Oh, and making use of Berserker Vow.

These two are gonna set up Berserker Vows.

MEGAQUEEN will set up even more damage buffs for Sidney and Rose.

Akatsuki needs to spend more time setting up before he can get going.

No dragon is gonna take me down!

Ah, hello there, Mr. Akatsuki. It has been a while, yes?

Indeed it has, Mr. Akatsuki. I must say, that new attire of yours looks very good on you.

Why thank you, Mr. Akatsuki. I always do try to look-

Hey. You two. Dragon. Please focus.

Oh, right.

Okay, Sid. Do you have any idea when I should act?

Just wait on my mark. I bet it can’t wait to do it first thing, though...

Hey, whaddya know? Now, Cassie!

Oh, goodness! Talk about absolute zero temperatures!

Hmm, a royal army versus a dragon. I’d say the odds are well in our favor!

For all our sakes, it better be!

Take your best shot.

A-as p-p-painful as this is, it’s gonna be soooo worth it!

Drake’s likely to use a physical attack this turn, so I’m gonna buy another turn for our team with Aegis Sheild.

Shower is a random target attack, and I don’t want it hitting the rest of my team. So I’m gonna try to have those hits be redirected towards Cassandra.

Now I’ll prep this Akatsuki for Tagen Battou.

And uhh, sure. Wolf Howl. Why not?

I’m afraid failure is your only option here.

...Well I’m sure gonna be feeling that for a long time. Oyyyy...

The wolf is at your door!

How pathetic. I thought you were a true dragon, but now I see that you’re nothing more than a giant mutant lizard.

Now I’m gonna have Cassandra break out Line Guard to deal with Drake’s physicals.

While half the party stacks on as many damage multipliers as possible.

Though since everyone’s HP is low from Berserker Vow casts, I’m gonna have both Akatsukis heal up the party. They’re fast enough to outspeed Drake, so I don’t have to worry about that, at least.

Medicine, for your troubles.

Ah, thanks! I really needed that!

If you’re trying to disprove my previous claim, you’re doing a very poor job of it.

My, he really doesn’t like you, does he?

Most of those hits went toward Cassandra, and she even Parried one of them.

By my decree, I demand that you reveal your weak points to me!

Heh heh heh...

Ready to go!

Time to go all out.

By the way, take a look at how much damage Akatsuki took. He’s that fragile. If I didn’t take precautions and buy that ultimate armor for him, he would have been dead by now.

Filleted dragon, anyone?

Rose landed 5 hits, and dealt a total of 2955 damage there. Not bad, considering how much defenses Drake has.

Of course, Sidney takes off a respectable chunk of HP because he’s Sidney.

Granted, it wasn’t all that much in the grand scheme of things, so this fight is probably gonna take a while.

Everyone who can Charge, including Akatsuki, does so this turn.

Also because this was a turn that was a multiple of 5, I had Cassandra cast Anticold for another free turn.

Ah, my mind is so clear now...

Time to unleash Akatsuki’s newfound powers.

We strike as one!

Akatsuki rolled 5 hits on Tagen Battou, and ended up dealing 9366 damage as a result. Which is slightly less than 40% of Drake’s HP. Yikes.

Welp. At least Akatsuki served his purpose.

I don’t know... what I was hoping to accomplish with that...

Sidney 1, Dragons 0!

Hurry, we must get over to Wealh!

All that damage Akatsuki did was enough for my party to utterly dunk on Drake. And you have to keep in mind, a 6 turn kill on Drake is really not normal at this point the game. The fight usually takes around 15 turns at the minimum. Most parties end up taking way longer to take him down because Drake wastes so much of the player’s time with Iceblock and Regen. I was lucky that he didn’t bother casting either of his buff skills, which would have dragged the fight on for a lot longer.

Goodness... that dragon was certainly ferocious.

Yeah... hey, what the heck is happening to his body!?

The ice dragon that had collapsed with a cry shatters; its crystal remains flit about the hall! The shining crystals coalesce before your eyes, eventually forming an orb!

Uhhh, any ideas on what to do with this?

Hmm... touch it?

Couldn’t hurt to do that.

When you grasp hold of the orb, you feel an overwhelming rush of power!

Those monsters and dragons won’t stand a chance now!

Ohohoho! Now I can go even further beyond my limits!

I’ll talk a bit more about this in a bit.

And we can talk with her here.

I’m sorry I lied... the Dragon Killer is a sword, not a spear… No dragonslayer would forget it.

With that, she shows you the sword she holds limply and the beautiful patterns engraved on it.

Your lineage... your training... none of it matters... until you slay your first dragon... I wanted to show my parents... I could beat the ice dragon... I wanted to make them proud... You’re gullible... but you’re strong... Strong enough... to be true dragonslayers!

Though her last words are spoken in a clear, strong voice, her life’s flame extinguishes there. You carry away her frozen body and decide to bury her in a corner of the hall...

Fade to black.

So um, just two more of those ordeals left, y-yes?

Y-yeah...

I just can’t believe she actually did something like that.

Let’s... not tell Faye about what happened here. No need for her to beat herself up over something she couldn’t possibly have prevented.

And that’s it for everything involving Drake. If you’re wondering if we could have saved Wealh... the answer to that is no. If you’re wondering what happens if you comply with her request to leave, this is what happens instead:

You blanch at the intensity of her stare and agree quickly to return to Armoroad post-haste. Immediately, the malice vanishes from her countenance, replaced by a gentle smile.

Sorry to be so selfish. But this is too important to my parents’ honor to let anyone else do it. If all goes well, I’ll buy you a drink by way of apology. The bar out in Armoroad is rather nice.

With this, Wealh turns her back to you, waving goodbye over her shoulder as she goes.

Having given your word, you cannot linger here. You decide to leave the hall.

At this point, you would have had to wait for some time to pass instead of just simply going back to the inn and returning to this point, which is why I said to choose no. Oh and if you tried to go back in:

When you enter the hall, the dragonslayer Wealh notices you and comes over.

Oh? What’s this? Shouldn’t you be relaxing in Armoroad by now?

Wealh’s laugh is carefree, but her demeanor abruptly turns deadly serious and her words grow harsh.

Stop fooling around and go back. I don’t want to waste my energy fighting you before the dragon...

She seems truly ready to attack you at any moment... Perhaps you should do as she says. You nod a wary goodbye and leave Wealh in the hall.

Yeah, she was really dedicated to soloing that dragon. Anyways, after enough time has passed and you return here:

You return to the hall, concerned for Wealh’s safety, only to find a blizzard raging inside!

The hall is encased in thick ice. A dragon with shining blue scales sits arrogantly in the center! This figure, wrapped in a shroud of absolute-zero air, must be the ice dragon you’ve searched for! Moreover, you can see a small form lying limply on the ground nearby! You gasp, the breath hanging visibly in the air... Wealh has been conquered by the ice dragon! Your first impulse is to rush to her side, but the victor of this battleground stands in your way! Steel yourselves and face the ice dragon that you might come to Wealh’s aid!

And after killing Drake:

You cradle Wealh, who had fallen to the icy ground, in your arms, but she has already passed on... Her expression is so calm that it is hard to believe how fiercely she fought just before the end. You carry away her frozen body and decide to bury her in a corner of the hall...

Lastly, you thrust her sword into the ground as a grave marker and say a final, quiet prayer... You murmur news of your victory to Wealh’s memory and smile farewell at her before leaving the hall.

Yeah, she dies either way. If any of you wondered why she looked a bit familiar, she was just a reference to Flasgul/Hrothgar from the 2nd game, who dies for similar reasons.

Now watch them spare her and let you team up with her to fight Drake in the remake (If that ever gets made) because that’s a thing they do in the remakes now for some reason.

One last order of business.

Alright, so this Blue Heart raised our level cap by 10.

And to commemorate that occasion, our characters’ status screens now have a crown next to their level.

And this affects everyone in our guild, not just the party members who participated in that battle. In fact, even new recruits already have the level cap lifted for them. The level cap increase is permanent, and can’t be undone. Not even by a New Game +.

As for why this level cap implementation in the game, it’s mostly as a response to EO2’s rather poorly designed method for increasing the level cap. In EO1, the level cap was 70 and couldn’t be increased at all. After that game, the true level cap was increased to 99, but an initial cap was placed at 70. In EO2, the method to raise this involved retirement. You had to grind all the way up to level 70, then retire. That would raise the level cap to 71. Then level all the way back up to 71 and retire again, and I’m sure you get the picture. It was exactly as tedious as it sounded, even in a game as grind friendly as EO2.

Starting from EO3, killing a member of the dragon trio would increase the cap by 10. (Aside from the last one which increased it by 9.) And honestly, this system really just seems like an afterthought. The game’s exp curve really doesn’t make leveling up to 99 easy. And the game’s enemies were really not designed with that level curve in mind. The strongest random encounter in the game is level 64. The strongest FOE in the game is only level 70. A few bosses do go past that point, but the strongest boss in the game is only level 80.

And even then, you don’t really need to level up to 99. Level ups from level 70 onward don’t give you that much in terms of stats. The stat gains you get from level 70 to 99 are considerably less than the amount of stats you gain from levels 1 through 70. So don’t fret if grinding past that point is frustrating. Later games are actually balanced with leveling up to 99 in mind, as the exp curve is adjusted for that. And you’re expected to hit 99 by the time you take on the game’s true final challenge. Though to be honest, I’m not exactly a fan of the cap system. Even at level 70, you’re very likely to cream the final boss of the main game if you got to that point. And past that point, it just feels like a way for the game to arbitrarily block your post-game progression. Kill these specific bosses or die because the enemies are scaled beyond what you can currently handle. It just seems like an awkward system that was kept around because reasons. Though I guess it’s better than what EO2 did.

The same magnificent voice you heard before echoes from above!

Welcome, frail humans. It seems you have defeated one of the three dragons; the lord of blizzards... By now, you have surpassed the natural limits of man and gained new power...

Ooh, yes. Thank you for that! I feel like a new queen already!

But still... It is not enough. The path to heaven is long; you must defeat all of the dragons.

The voice then fades away. Only the residual effects of that magnificent presence remain... It seems that the path will not open until you defeat whatever dragons remain. With that in mind, you set sail once again.

Well, we already took one down. Can’t be that much harder to take down the other two.

I just pray that if anyone else attempts to slay them, that they wouldn’t be so reckless in their attempts...

Well, we can sell the Reverse Scale but it doesn’t unlock anything. Not yet, anyway. I’ll snag Drake’s conditional drop a bit later when the party’s stronger. Now let’s talk about the next dragon.

Say hi to... Dragon. Yeah, the names aren’t particularly creative. There was an actual reason for that in the first two games, as enemy names could only be at a maximum of 8 characters long there. EO3 increased that limit to 16, so there’s no excuse for these names anymore. Not sure what Atlus USA were thinking there, really. Thankfully they stopped with that nonsense starting from EO4, and actually gave them names that weren’t all synonyms for the word dragon. If you’re curious, they went from Drake, Dragon, and Wyrm to Blizzard King, Storm Emperor, and... The Great Dragon. Well at least that last one is on the Japanese end instead of a localization blunder.

The Storm Emperor Dragon is generally considered to be the easiest of the dragons to take down. Just stack a lot of buffs and you’ll take it down in no time.

Oh, and like Drake, you don’t want to be hit by its elemental breath.

Wait, what the heck? Rose isn’t on the back line! And this wasn’t me catching the screenshot at an inopportune moment, it really does say that when Antivolt activates on Rose.

Look at all these damage buffs! Dragon should go down quickly as Drake di-

Oh, did I say easiest? Yeah that’s only for the other games in the series. Dragon is actually the hardest dragon to take down in this game. You see, Dragon gets... displeased, if you have too many buffs on your party at any point in the fight. If you have 11 or more buffs when Dragon’s HP is above the halfway point, or 7 or more buffs when his HP is below that point, he’ll cast this skill. Which erases every single buff on the party.

And it also has a chance of inflicting Instant Death and Curse as well! In fact, this skill is pretty much what elevated Dragon to the toughest of the dragon trio. Yes, he had this skill before, but buffs weren’t nearly as integral to those games as they are in EO3. (Also in EO1, all this skill did was dispel buffs and... nothing else. So you could just reapply your buffs and potentially waste Dragon’s turns.) Not being able to use buffs severely hampers what your party can do.

Now if you’re thinking, “I’ll just have to use less attack buffs than usual, no big deal.” Well...

Dragon doesn’t need to use Corrupt to inflict Curse.

He is also capable of Paralyzing the entire party.

I’m sure you can see the obvious problems with that.

You pretty much need Prevent Order to deal with Dragon. It’s practically the only buff you’re allowed to use in that fight. Yes you can use up to 10 buffs before Dragon gets too unhealthy, but unless you time things right, you’ll be stuck with 10 buffs if you damage Dragon enough to get him below half HP, and oh hey, Corrupt just gave you a massive setback/game over. So that’s something to keep in mind.

Dragon
HP: 25000
AT: 70
DF: 77
Weakness: Fire
Resistance: Physical, Volt

Really, there’s nothing more I can say on Dragon. At the very least, he’s not a time waster like Drake was. Let’s take a look at the guild now, and get onto voting.

Banned

Once again, Cassandra is banned because I need Antivolt to actually survive the fight.

The Rest of the Guild

Faye is an excellent choice for a support. Sure, she can’t use Protect Order, but she still has access to Party Heal. And if any ailments land on the party, she can just Refresh those right off. Oh, and she has access to Prevent Order as well.

MEGAQUEEN is sadly of very limited use in this fight. As I outlined before, using any buffs other than Prevent Order is pretty much a death sentence for our team. Yes she has Prevent Order, but that’s about all she can really do. Thankfully, Dragon doesn’t care about debuffs, so she can get away with spamming Eagle Eye to increase the party’s damage output. But outside of that, her utility is very limited.

For the record, these two aren’t banned because it’s possible to beat the fight without using Prevent Order. It’s just that the fight becomes significantly more luck based without it.

Even though Dragon is weak to Fire, and buffs aren’t really allowed in this fight, Smith’s damage output still isn’t stellar compared to the other damage dealers. At least he’s somewhat resistant to Dragon’s ailments.

Rose is a durable physical attacker. That’s about all there is to her.

Charlotte isn’t as durable and she’s a bit unreliable with how variable her damage output with 5-Ring Sword is.

Asteria can make good use of Meteor, and unlike with Drake, Dragon can’t really stop her from doing much. So she can cast Hellfire with little to no hindrance (Unless she gets Cursed.)

Even without buffs, Sidney’s one of the best physical attackers we have. Especially if he happens to get some Double Action procs.

Akatsuki is another good choice for a physical attacker, since Tagen Battou can deal a lot of damage, even without buffs.

Scott is an excellent choice to bring along to the fight, since Pincushion is good damage, even if it’s a bit unreliable. He also has access to Eagle Eye, which gives him some much needed utility, since that’s the only damage booster other than Charge that can be safely cast in this fight.

Fang has Primal Drums which is another debuff that can be used to increase the party’s damage. That’s about it, really.

An empty party slot would legitimately be more useful than Alice in this case, since that means there would be 1 less body eating up my limited buff slots.

Vote for up to 3 party members to slay this dragon. Votes must be in bold.
