Today, we're taking on a map where the gimmick really doesn't hold up with randomized enemies. Also, compared to the last few chapters, it's really short.
That's right, it's time for the Gorgon eggs! Except...
...looking at the class lineup and the boss, it's much more likely that Swordmasters will be popping out of those eggs, not Gorgons. This is good, because it means I don't have to deal with siege magic or other bullshit like that. This is gonna be a pretty quick chapter.
We've got one more promotion to take care of. We already have a Swordmaster, which means...
...Assassin time. If 5x Orson looked like Stefan in white, Eirika is Ranulf in red. Her gains are okay, but more importantly, her Shove skill got switched out for Lethality.
Also, I make sure to Amnesia away Devil's Whim so that Kyle doesn't shoot himself in the face with a lightning bolt.
Again, there's really not much to say about this chapter. Crack open some eggs, or wait for them to hatch and actually fight the enemies that come out? The eggs are usually a better choice.
Saleh gets an okay level, and becomes the third person to gain Seal Skill for hitting Level 5.
I'm keeping this egg alive because I want to see what actually comes out of it. In the meantime, Kyle gets his Dark rank up a bit more - hopefully I get another Stone so that he can use real dark magic soon.
And it's exactly what I expected, given the boss. This guy gets a 0% hit chance against Neimi and dies instantly.
A good chunk of this crit percentage comes from Stone, but still
No crits on the Runesword means Eirika can't kill the Sage that came to her, but hypothetically she could have procced Lethality off of it.
Lute finishes him off for an alright level, and... no skill. Hmm.
While I ponder on why monsters don't get a skill at either level 1 unpromoted or level 5 promoted, Eirika cracks open another egg to get more strength, which is always very appreciated!
Ewan takes out another Sage for a bad, but on-brand, level.
The fact that you can even Mercy the eggs is really funny to me.
More egg breaking gives Tana a very special level.
Apparently you can Capture eggs? I'm morbidly curious as to how this works, so I have Ewan get to work on it, even if it'll take him two turns.
It turns out it still counts as a proper enemy, just with no inventory. I was worried doing this would cause a crash or something, but thankfully that's not the case.
Did you know that they have profiles, too? You can't see them normally, but they're fully programmed even in the regular game.
He then breaks the other egg for the same shitty level as the last one.
Ephraim's first promoted skill is crap this late in the game. I'd much rather have him be able to make use of support bonuses then get a small bump to his accuracy.
This Recruit has no way of hurting anyone from that ledge, so Vanessa gets some more experience out of it.
Things fly by so quickly in this chapter without having to deal with shit like Shadowshot and Stone that we're already at the boss.
Honestly, the only worrisome thing about this is how fast she is. The skills really don't mean much, and her defense is low enough that Joshua could probably take her out handily... as long as he uses something other than the Iron Axe, because she'd be able to double him to death if he had that. Not that he necessarily needs to, as at this point we have a lot of options to deal with shit like this. Eirika could deal with her, too, as long as she's fighting during the player phase.
I missed the screenshot, but Neimi got to Level 5 off an egg of her own, gaining Speed and Barricade+. This'll really help her if she ends up against something that can double her!
Crit kills on bosses are so much nicer when you don't expect them. We're not totally done yet, but all that's left is three more eggs.
A few more cracked eggs and a missed screenshot later (he got Strength and Skill), Joshua also hits Level 5 for a skill that's pretty good!
I decide to humor the game and let the final egg hatch on its own, spawning a very underwhelming Sage.
Dude gets one-shotted by Ewan and can't even give him enough EXP for a level. What a shame. But that'll do it for this chapter!

A friendly Siege Asshole?!
