Welcome to Week 2

After all the voting across several different mediums, we came to a general agreement about the first 3 games to watch: Enbarr @ Brigid, Agartha @ Plegia, and Hoshido @ Nohr. I chose a random game from the remaining list for the week, and got Eastern Church @ Ft. Merceus.

However…

I’m a foolish foolish person and accidentally asked the game to simulate Eastern Church @ Ft. Merceus, so I had to choose

Again

And got Sreng @ Morfis this time. Ft. Merceus will get a primetime slot next week as an apology, tho!

But let’s start with Game 1:

Enbarr @ Brigid

Hard to believe this is the first primetime game for the Black Eagle Dunk Force, but here we are! Brigid has had a hell of a tough slate early on in the season, facing off against Garreg Mach, Eastern Church (who is undefeated by this point), and Sreng in a close matchup. Now they have two games against Enbarr. A positive is that that’s 4 super tough games out of the way really early in the season. The negative is:

Enbarr came out of the gate red hot

Edelgard Von Hresvelg played the defensive game of a lifetime, holding all opponents that shot against her to 2 points total on 1-18 shooting. She also added 13 assists, including this insane bullet pass to Caspar.

By halftime, Enbarr was already up 70-48, but Brigid fought hard in the second half.

This was earlier in the game, but most of Brigid’s comeback looked like this.

In the end, Enbarr put a decisive exclamation point on the whole affair and proved that with crests, even Edelgard can dunk.

She has 50 vertical and 40 dunk how on earth did she do that.

The end result was a 137-106 victory for Enbarr, but I’m still reeling over that insane dunk.

Game 2: Agartha at Plegia

OoooooOOoOoOo It’s Halloween in Plegia! Nothing like a little uncanniness to start the evening.

What’s happening with your eyes, buddy? I know we’re in the Dragon’s Table but the game hasn’t even started!

Agartha and Plegia wasn’t even a tale of 2 halves, it was a tale of 1 quarter vs 3 quarters.

The 1st quarter was 100% Plegia dominated, as the Wizards pulled out to what seemed to be commanding 24-10 lead on the back of some nice fundamental ball movement.

It was at this point that I realized that I really really don’t like Plegia’s uniforms all that much. I was trying to avoid doing a pseudo-Lakers look with the purple and gold, but I think that would’ve looked a lot better than what came out. It’s okay though, because we’ll get to some uniforms I legitimately love later.

Back to the game, the rest of the game was dominated by a small angry redhead named Kronya.

Her specialty? Mid-range floaters.

24-10 became 39-39 at halftime, then 50-59 by the end of the 3rd. Agartha put down the gas and didn’t look back, earning a 62-78 win on the back of 32 Kronya points.

Spooky

Game 3: Hoshido @ Nohr

Oh boy oh boy oh boy

This game features two of my favorite uniforms, at one of my favorite courts.

Welcome to

The Garon Dome

If you have noticed before, some of the courts have adverts brought to us by some enterprising friends. (Take credit if you so wish, friends!) But the Garon Dome has Garon’s smiling face plastered in as many places as the game would let me.

And Hoshido is already disrespecting the Glory of Nohr.

At this point, Hoshido is 2-3 and Nohr is 2-2. Hoshido got a big win over Nohr, and dominated the Charon Knights, but then got absolutely demolished by Fort Merceus in The Fortress. Nohr only had one game.

In the Garon Dome

Against Garreg Mach

….

And they won.

How are you feeling, Hoshido and former Knicks coach David Fizdale?

Yeah, I feel the same way.

Lucky for you, Xander’s feeling a little bit of the pressure as well.

And it looks like Hinoka’s back to her old tricks.

And as Nohr struggled and brought in NPCs to try to rest people:

Hoshido’s NPCs stepped up and finished the game.

I love u Hoshido away unis.

Game 4: Sreng @ Morfis

Speaking of neat jerseys, how about Morfis?

So nice that even your clones will wear them.

Anyways, Since people have named their teams, I have begun the long process of changing how characters look to match the descriptions. Sreng has the most changes of any team, mostly because of one man.

Sreng has some interesting characters. Shadow the Hedgehog, Jake Sisko, Donna Noble …

Walter Gibbs

Nanami Kiryuu

All of these players and more contributed, but Morfis wouldn’t go away.

And the story shifted from a Sreng blowout to the tragic Denial of Barkley

When Charles Barkley got his powers stolen from him in Space Jam, a version of him from an alternate reality was transported to the icy northern country of Sreng. Years and years of toiling and learning to survive made him stronger, but made his basketball skills rusty. When the league was started, he knew what needed to happen.

And Morfis did as much as they could to deny him.

But fate is immovable, and one’s destiny cannot be ignored. And in the 4th quarter, only up by 3, Barkley took control.

And thus, Sreng won 83-79.

The next post will show the other scores, and standings going into the month of November!
