10: This Fucking Map

Weeellll shit guess we can't put it off any longer, so now it's ghost ship time.

Sold a lot of old crap, bought a lot of new crap, including several elixirs because we're up to hp levels where vulneraries aren't healing for nearly enough.

Also another torch because

The proper way to handle royalty is to throw stones at them, Magvel may be a little confused but i think its heart is in the right place.

When it comes to the ship map, i quickly realized that there is no way the healers are surviving the constant waves of Suddenly, Fuck You! coming out of the fog, and Colm is basically Natasha-tier squishy so he's sitting this out as well. That means Neimi's a little worse than usual, but she is also pretty darn strong just by herself at this point.

It looks nice and quiet! Boy can appearances be deceiving.

Duessel's tanky and will be carrying Ephraim so he doesn't get turbomurdered.

There we go, defence formation!

Bullshit, you can't see a damn thing.

Let's remedy that...

At least our bows are effective against these jerks!

Look at Garcia putting in work. Never touching another axe for the rest of the game, still oneshotting fools like a boss! I gave him a steel bow even though he can't use it yet, because i expect he will, soon.

Neimi is even stronger than Garcia right now. Partly because of her ring, but... dang, Neimi.

Of course, we still can't delete everything, so we have to wear some attacks. The problem with Neimi is she's dodgyish, but if she does eat a couple of hits she's suddenly not in a good position.

Ross is less defensive, but also a less tempting target, because he still has axes... for now.

Hahahaha no, we're doing bows all the way.

Ross is a strong boy.

And the only one who'll be countering enemy attacks most of the time.

There will be a lot of enemies to counter...

Let's keep the torch lit.

These guys have a ton of health! Fortunately, not so much def.

Garcia is an absolute beast at this point, promoted and with two support partners in range...

And as soon as i get another crest, Ross will be joining him! That is the Best Bad Level again and i will gladly take it.

Less happy about this.

What is it now?!

Oh, never mind, it's just the Best Character rolling in!

Will take us a moment to get to them, though. Well, Dozla's there, so it's probably fine, right...?

Can't even spend every turn killing things because Ross is still a bit fragile.

56 goddamn hit points! And enough damage to twoshot Neimi if it hits... on a coin flip. I Do Not Appreciate It.

Holy shit there's a lot of dudes.

It's nice that some of them are willing to go for Seth, because even now, his bulk makes him a very nice wall.

It's fine, we have elixirs.

Dozla, meanwhile, is even less impressed.

Seth has taken enough of a beating to hit level three. I remind you that he has not had a weapon since chapter one.

Neimi finally knows all there is to know about bows! This includes a lot about being on the receiving end of them, too.

Javelins are just really big hand-held arrows if you think about it...

...or arrows are just really small javelins...

This has stopped being funny!

This isn't funny either!

But at least it's over now. Dozla deletes a monster on his turn,

Neimi heals herself with optimum elixir usage,

and the boys keep at it. Ross will go through most of Gheb's killer axe and Duessel's silver one on this map because i can't think of any better place to use them than this shitfuck of a fog map.

Uuuuuhhhh that is not great, i can't oneshot or double this thing... Going to get started, though, because it needs to go!

Seth doesn't need an elixir yet.

Leave Neimi alone!

!

L'Arachel draws some fire as well but she has an elixir and it's fairly unlikely she'll get one-turned. You know, even if the enemies hit.

Neimi meanwhile...

Neimi's not quite as lucky, and that's another run down the drain.

We'll be right back!

So after a number of failed attempts at this, i had to admit that Neimi is the weakest link. As said, she is dodgy-ish. But with so many enemies, enough of them will eventually get sufficiently lucky to take her down.

This time, we're doing it the beef way.

The only thing keeping me from soloing this with Garcia is the fact that he'd get surrounded and unable to move, leaving four enemies unkillable with just bows even if everything gunned for him from the start of the map. And we're not going to break the rules of the challenge just for this!

I mean, it's... a bit iffy since i'm still fielding an axe user this late but i can't get any more seals at this point dang it.

With the axe family close together, they are quite formidable.

Ross managed an even better level this time.

Too bad he can't gain any more levels now...

He deserves some more after all the abuse he's taken.

This got dicey even with just the bulky boys, but that's not terribly likely to hit.

And of course coinflip crits are always fun!

This is a little scarier, though.

Dozla is... maybe a bit better than i remember him?

Ross also, to be honest.

Seriously, something should probably have tagged him at this point but no,

he just keeps dodging killing blows left and right.

They're not high-percentage shots, mind, but there were a lot of them.

Well, at least L'Arachel went for a safe spot and is back to full,

and Ross healed himself too,

and Garcia gets started on the boss monster, again.

Duessel's just sitting there with Ephraim under one arm like "Eh. Seen worse."

Dang it she only has three elixirs!

It's starting to get full of archers and javelins so Ross switched to hand axe. He has two of them, just in case.

Ow! Well, as long as there's nothing more than that...

Finally got the boss! Unfortunately, this doesn't accomplish anything more than "the boss won't be short-spearing everyone", but that is a victory all in itself.

Garcia's first warrior level is pretty good! I like the bulk, it's nice to have someone who can take hits. He is actually quite def blessed - his average for 20/2 is 12, so even with the dracoshield he's three points ahead.

No one can use this, but you know what? I'm satisfied.

With the eyeballs starting to surround us, Duessel's been taking a bit of a beating. Elixirs, though.

Ross is on thin ice again.

No, it's fine, we're still in this!

See?!

...

Phew!

Fucking hell Dozla, the gargoyle. The gargoyle is the one doing damage. And L'Arachel is out of elixirs now!

And we're in no position to help out so many fucking eyeballs aaaa

So many near-death experiences, too.

For everyone, this turn! Duessel doesn't care about the physical attacks, but all those eyeball beams are starting to get obnoxious...

Finally!

So those eyeballs, then.

That's one less.

Two less!

Know what? I'll just be... over here.

We're thinning them out!

Right side seems clean now, so i'm dropping off Ephraim so he can recruit the greenies next turn.

Seriously L'Arachel is The Best Character, don't even.

I let her take some of my vulneraries just in case.

Dozla, meanwhile... give me that axe. You're done!

And then, we mopped up.

Finally!

Well you won't be doing any of that but you can at least help Neimi and Garcia do it which is almost as good.

Next up: No fucking fog!

Also i'm selling this gem because uh. Elixirs are expensive.

The boat has too many paths in to be really defensible (for the party i have to work with).

Caellach will peace out soon. The shaman in the middle drops a guiding ring. He's also level 10, which means he could have used it! Could, and probably should because now? Now he's never getting the chance.

Starting out by sending Neimi to the left; she and Colm are hidden under the boxes there. Seth's picking up Ephraim to ferry him around if needed.

"Can't you even take on a bunch of fucking archers?!"

Owwie, but not a lot of owwie.

Not any owwie at all on the other side!

Riev shows up to be a creep, nothing new under the sun.

Ugh, flying critters. Makes it hard to protect the squishables.

How very curious, i say, knowing full well how this story goes.

Ross may not be promoting for another while yet, but he is still pretty good at this.

Warrior bow animation!

You know, because you're never going to see it outside this lp!

Garcia hit D bows, now he can use steel.

Which is all we need right now because even Neimi doesn't have access to anything better! It's a little annoying.

Nice.

Not loving the situation on the left, though...

Needs more bait.

You know, bows really are the worst weapon type.

Look at this fucking garbage, like what even am i looking at, there's not a single other class that can get so thoroughly humiliated and made completely incapable of even fighting back at all unless they just plain can't fight.

As if that's not enough, the fucking short bow! Yeah, i'd like a bow that costs 973 bucks per shot and does no damage but has 3% built in crit! That is totally cool!

(Well to be fair the slim weapons are trash as well.)

Ross also gets surrounded but, importantly, can counter all these nerds on his next turn.

Sitting out the last map means Neimi lost out on exp. She might not have been quite as fragile with another couple levels under her belt... but then she probably would have, she's great and all but the girl's not built to tank.

Not this one either.

That's a horseslayer! And a Problem, if i want to use my... horse units... to tank... you know.

Garcia's heading west to help Neimi out of her embarrassing prison.

Ross gets a heal and blocks off the chokepoint. L'Arachel can take an arrow, i healed her last turn.

Gonna have Colm help out too, by boosting Neimi's stats

wait where the fuck did that

come frrrrrrrrrr we'll be right back

Garcia's going left from the start, this time, and Duessel will try to keep him from getting surrounded. Meanwhile Neimi and Ross are going right.

Garcia tanks just as well on either side of the boat.

We already know this thing comes with a horseslayer. Duessel can take more of that than Seth, but there's no reason not to kill this nerd first.

Nice and clean!

Meanwhile, strategic parking keeps the enemies from swarming the boat.

No challenge on this side yet.

Can't quite oneround, though... Oh well, he'll attack me and die on the next enemy phase.

Because i can use axes, see.

This time i've left Ephraim unattended so Seth can keep L'Arachel safe instead. She's squishier and closer to danger.

And then Ephraim can drop her. Sweet straaaatszszsz.

Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, or Ross, who is about the same size.

Piss!!!

Well, nothing to do about it right now, let's just kill shit.

It goes to Neimi this time, she won't use it either.

Well! They actually moved. Bad decision!

Eeehhh it's ok i guess. Got the bow rank again, too.

Now, there will always be at least one space two tiles away from Garcia that he can either attack or move to, so he can't be surrounded again.

East side's looking dicey, but it's not too bad right now.

Man, being able to counter at 1-2 range is so nice. Guess who's going to miss it once everyone's promoted!

Eyeballs were scarier.

8 damage.

Still need elixirs, if i move Neimi she can't attack and i need all the attacks i can get.

Oneshotting what we can't double, nice! Duessel will park next to Garcia to ensure he doesn't go to Archer Jail... again.

Was going to try and bait with Seth but Ross is still so squishy he makes a more tempting target.

This jerk's still here and is the next priority target, but he's not as scary for Duessel as he would be for Seth.

Huh, Garcia's actually taking damage, that's new!

I think this archer straight up couldn't get to Seth because he'd have taken that over getting countered, but as long as i can enjoy those hand axes, i'm more than happy to! This position is pretty good since it lets Neimi snipe (as she does) without danger... or so i thought.

Maybe a waste of an elixir but with zanbato man on the loose i don't want to take chances. I can't oneround him with Garcia, so he's a Problem.

At least that's one guy with wta on Ross gone. These guys have like 120 hit, too, so he is going to take damage.

Lots of damage.

oh god what

Fortunately me forgetting that pirates can walk on water didn't lead to a death because L'Arachel can take a hit but it was a bit of a scare.

We're almost done with this side which is good because ow. Fucking spiders!

There we go. Now we just heal up and this side will head north.

Seth will play distraction on the other side for a bit.

As said, considerably more of a threat to him! Shouldn't be enough other enemies around to be an issue, though...

...i thought, and almost threw the map again, along with my controller.

He didn't get the level on the boat last time since i benched him, so he got it here instead. You know what? It's good. Seth is a wall. Wall more, Seth.

Some hp/res might have been nice too, mind...

At least he won't do it again.

That cav's a bit of an issue though.

Neimi heads north

while Ross goes to help his pops clean up.

And then we horse-lift Natasha out. Can't help Ephraim but he's more than tanky enough to live.

Bet this guy was very surprised to find Ephraim wasn't actually carrying a lance!

Bet Ephraim's pretty surprised too.

Ugh. Can't kill him.

Got healing on Ephraim, though.

I sent Neimi here because she can draw archers who are forced to eat a counter.

That's one worry gone. Just gotta mop up the spiders...

Neimi's charging. She has the hp to take it. Colm's going to sit nearby, out of danger but in support range.

Hmm, although these skeletons could be a problem...

The mages? Not so much.

Archer's done too.

She can smash the bones no problem, but only one at a time.

There's not enough of them to be a real threat, though.

And she is still semi-dodgy.

There, this should keep things manageable!

We've finally chewed through the spiders on the left. Nothing to show for it, just like 30 spent bow uses.

Then, it's this guy's turn.

Ross finally made it back up in time to take out the last skel-

ugh, fine.

The shaman was not an issue, moving on. We get an elfire we can sell for elixir money.

It's mostly wrapped up now.

This guy's tricky, though - he has a killing edge. We'll leave him be for now.

Duessel hit up the house for

a free dracoshield!

Or dragonshield, what the fuck ever i don't care!!

This guy's got a killer bow, but it's fine.

Seth could soak a crit if he had to and Neimi doesn't have to.

Toxin lance, bleh. Good thing we have arrows!

L'Arachel patched up Duessel who shouldn't really be needed for the rest of this.

We're starting on the boss room.

And the edgy guy.

NO DAMAG

Now she wants to be tanky...?

Can't oneshot

but got lucky with a hand axe, so he's done.

I'm guessing L'Arachel will get this, Natasha's just so squishy, so 5-move infantry.

Going to draw in Marisa and recruit her. At least i don't have to worry about accidentally killing her!

...or her accidentally killing me

NO DA

This was a crit

Our free dra*shield

recruited a free elixir, and has thus contributed more than the actual protagonists of this story.

Huh, Duessel got some more use after all.

Holy shit these guys are giant bags of health.

Garcia felt inspired and got bulkier for shooting it.

Even he couldn't oneround...

...but Neimi appreciated the free level.

She is once again stronger than Garcia.

The boss is harmless, but inspired Garcia for even more bulk.

You know when Garcia usually has 17 natural def? Level 20/20. He is four points ahead.

He is one point behind in strength, and dead on in speed if i gave him a speedwing which i think i did, look don't expect effort or anything. In less important stats, he is also one point ahead on hp, skill, and luck, one behind on res. This is a pretty solid Garcia!

The boss dropped a swordslayer. Guess Ross might have some use for it, before he promotes!

Who? I don't know any Ephraims.

There is only Garcia.
