3: And Then Seth Killed The Demon King

Also spamming Barrier with Saleh so he can maybe use good staves at some point.



These are unpromoted enemies.



They are unimpressive and give unimpressive levels.

Duessel's going to handle the reinforcements. He has both axes and spears so it's maybe a little faster for him than anyone else since i can swap depending on what's more effective against the horde at any given moment.



Dozla's not bad, all of a sudden! He'd have 18 speed with Garm so anything that looks dangerous enough to use it on is going to go splat.



Hmhmhm... Well, it's not a big hit rate or anything, but...







Hmm, i could actually use that this run.

Innes isn't nearly as good this run as he was in the bow run. He'll need some help.

Sadly "my" druid suicided on Dozla as well, without really doing anything useful to his friends. But this is a considerably bigger concern.



And we can't reach them this turn! Gonna have to weather a purge and sleep staff, not looking forward to that.



Dozla, meanwhile, will handle the swordmasters. Oh no! Please don't crit me, Mr. Swordmaster! Oh wait, i have the hoplon guard, sucks to be you.

Well that wasn't a big surprise or anything.

Unfortunately what's not going to be easy is getting Syrene to not suck. Would have been nice if she came with S lances...



And, you know, not these stats!



And even nicer if this wasn't the next map!!!

I've said it before but this map is the only part of the game that poses a significant problem in a Seth solo run (and it is indeed hellish in any solo run). Even the trouble in Vigarde's pad was just because i kept trying to involve characters who aren't Seth. But as overwhelmingly strong as he is, even just one shot of stone landing means death unless you get implausibly lucky. You can lessen the pain by trying to lure enemies to trap tiles but i highly recommend savestating and rng abusing if you're going to try it for yourself, because rng is still what it eventually comes down to.

Since i have more units, it's not quite as bad, but it is still tricky with so few characters (especially with Syrene being quite awful, and this Innes is not very strong either). I don't want to say this is a "skilled" completion of it or anything, and it did, uh, take a few attempts, but i did eventually find a way that makes it fairly doable.



This still isn't the smartest thing (what i should have done was send Dozla over towards the lower right corner) but it works i guess.



Profitable, too.



Anyway that lets Syrene start on l'egg.



The land horses are close enough to reach on their own.



And Ephraim? He's just going to chill. Shadowshot does like 40 damage, i don't want him anywhere near that.



Well it does if it hits, anyway.



Duessel eats an egg and caps out quite nicely.



Dozla doesn't dodge, but it's fine, he has a mountain of HP.

I had thought i'd get Syrene to de-egg this area before the spiders show up since she can take the lone gargoyle that starts here, but apparently they're proximity triggered so that's not possible.



Because they will shred her.

And with luck, we can crush most of these before they start hatching. Turns out horse boots for Duessel was a great idea! I surprise even myself sometimes!!



Syrene got stoned,

Good opportunity to get some staff exp, too!

...and then the eggs both hatch and the gorgons almost kill him. If i had warped him in faster, that wouldn't have needed to be a thing.

And then Dozla almost died again, but he has just enough hp/res to not, and now this corner's done.



The spiders attacked and both Seth and Duessel broke their javelins on the first hit so they couldn't kill the critters. If i had been paying better attention to their weapons, this would have been just a little easier. Saleh is doing well, though!



It's not like the javelin situation is a problem or anything; Seth can work his way around,



and Syrene can fly, so that leaves only one egg and it's not hatching yet. We've won!

Innes took out one last spider for S bows,



and Syrene got the last egg and still no strength.

We only have one staff user and no dancer so we can't oneturn Riev, but twoturning him is fine too.

I looked at the stats and got a little scared Dozla wouldn't double so i sent Duessel instead, then immediately as soon as i did it realized that Riev's weighed down by his tome so Dozla wouldn't have had a problem.



Oh well!

I have no idea what broke here, never seen this before and i've used this rom for ages. maybe that's why



Anyway i stocked up on elixirs and here's our party for the day.



Syrene still sucks. I had a run of the egg map where everything went fine and then she died near the end and i had to think long and hard about whether i cared enough to re-do the map just to keep her. I should just have left her dead, to be honest.




Still no strength!!!



Not for Dozla either but still much more impressive. 19 def is kind of a lot, even after a dracoshield!



okay syrene you're not exactly forgiven but innes is more deserving of my ire



Just gotta clear out the eyeballs and crap...



Would have liked magic! It'd give him one more warp range!



But oh well, it's more than enough.



Since we can't double-staff, i have to let him take out some of the enemies around here before he fights Morva, because Morva hurts.



With Riev out of the way, most of the issues have been solved!



...oh yeah, there are eyeball reinforcements...



And the monsters are getting uncomfortably close to Ephraim!



Oh well, he got +5 res on promotion and is on a tree, he can take a hit or two.



Only 90 hit, huh...

And then we warped in Ephraim. Most of those 7 hours were spent with the turbo on so it's maybe like 3-4 in real time? I saw a Seth solo clock in at ~4 in-game hours, so this still wasn't very fast...



It is go time!



Still no extra warp range, huh?



Dragons stil hurt.



Seth can't even oneround this one!



That's why we have Excalibur, though.



Gonna grab the robe again, because what else is Ephraim going to do with his turns?







This wasn't necessary, but it was hilarious!



Dozla handled the skeletons on the left side, but i don't want him to have to walk all the way up. Yoink!



The eyeball reinforcements hurt. Duessel's res is decent and two of them still nearly kill him!

Even Saleh can't tangle with these things safely.



This isn't actually just favouritism this time - Syrene wouldn't be tanky enough even with this, Innes shouldn't be getting hit, and Seth and Dozla are both close enough to 60 that they'd waste a couple points of this.



Which isn't to say they're safe from Shadowshot! Like before, i'm going to drain those before heading in, because two shadowshots on top of the other four gorgons will murder any member of my party in picoseconds.



Also Saleh got a level and finally hit that extra warp point right when it stopped being useful aaa

uuuhhhh except i keep forgetting it's Normal Innes this time around and not Good Innes from the archer run, shit.

So Saleh, please take this and uuhhhhh hold on i also forgot this isn't Good Saleh from the other run so he still can't use this! I could easily finish with Duessel but honestly there's only one person who could possibly get it this time so it's time to roll some dice!

418 turns is not that much faster than the archer run (it took 447) which is a little surprising. I figured it was because spent some time trying to train Dozla and such, but then i looked up the Seth solo run i saw and it took 424 turns, so this was still very slightly faster!



Yeah soloing like half the game will have that effect.



Innes did way less this time. He's like 2/3 the B and half the W from last time.
