Here we go! Gonna play this map - as soon as i ruin all the settings for the person coming after me!

What, you play the game on normal speed? What's wrong with you?!

Anyway, there's some story that we won't really go into

and there's a map, which we will! Helpfully highlighted for your pleasure, Neimi, the newest recruit.

She looks like this. The translators believed, with all their hearts, that JP Neimi was horribly overpowered and they remedied this by lowering her HP by one (1) point.

Even with her original, unlimited power, she kinda sucks, at least right off the bat. I fully understand if she doesn't get fielded ever again but shut up i like using archers, there's something satisfying about wrecking shit with the most useless class in the game ok.

I usually just let her take a shot and then rescuedrop her out of the way because even if she does somehow 1% crit the bandit, he's not going to die.

Not to this, either.

HONK HONK I'M SETH

Vanessa's not going to do well on this map, it's full of axe users, but we might as well feed her if we can. Franz is in there too but Vanessa has WTD and less def so the bandit goes for her first.

Colm spawns next turn. He got his speed nerfed by two points in the translation for some dumb reason and might not double the brigands on this map in FE8E. Neither he nor Neimi had their growths touched.

Since i moved Neimi, she can go in the door and then Colm can go up to draw the brigand and activate that free C support at the same time. I don't know if anyone will want to grind out support ranks but i'll pretty much always take this if i'm using either of these two because they really feel that slight boost in those first shaky levels.

I wanted to weaken this guy for Vanessa but Franz can't not kill. Oh well.

She'll have other opportunities. This is safe as long as the thief survives.

Which he does, thanks Vanessa.

Colm, meanwhile, crit his first opponent. Good first impressions.

There, we connect on the second attempt. I generally like to javelin this guy before opening the last room, otherwise he likes to come in and steal vulneraries like a jerk.

For now though, we're still some ways away. Ross can't kill, so he takes the wall instead; Franz kills and takes the brigand's door key.

Garcia sets up to receive the brigand (who has a hand axe).

Vanessa gets the thief, but that's no good so Seth rescues her.

I didn't remember to really check the inventory before going in here so uuhh this might not be a bad thing to have.

Garcia's not in any great danger handling both the handaxe brigand and the archer who steps in to take his place.

Even gets some bulk for it!

There's nothing super interesting in these, but it's free.

...well, it does cost uses of Colm's lockpick, i guess.

I can't be arsed to wait for Colm to get down here so i just use the keys, who cares, you can buy more later. Franz didn't have a javelin, so this is nice!

Colm looted an iron sword from the last chest and we're ready to move on. I want to bait this guy without drawing the one up top, who has a stealable. The merc in the boss room has one too, but he's not a problem since he's so far away.

Vanessa! Let's make you less awful.

Hey, not bad! So i let her draw the next attack, too.

It's not the stats she really needs, but it does have speed so it's a good level. I chipped with Neimi and Vanessa finished the next turn.

(Then we rescue Neimi so she doesn't draw the last brigand by accident.)

As long as Colm doesn't crit this guy, it's fine. ...and if he does, it's not a big loss.

Still, this might be handy down the line, or let you buy another weapon or something at some point if funds run low!

Ross got the kill. Speed's really his biggest weakness and if he can patch that up he'll be reasonably solid.

Merc's harmless, even on hard. Vanessa got the kill.

This isn't a good match-up, but Colm lives... and he would level. We'll leave him here.

"OK boomer."

Colm whiffed one of his attacks, but dodged and connected the second swing. Much like Vanessa, not what he needs most, but speed is still good.

Even with Colm's support, Neimi's not doing well here.

...so naturally i'm going to get her the kill.

Until then, everyone just kind of piles on Bazba.

He's tough, but that means we can wring a lot of chip exp out of him.

Even Ross manages to land a hit!

And that put him just in range for Neimi to finish off

She appreciated it!

Moulder got this finishing up the heals.

Then, before the next map i made sure to load everybody up with as many different weapons as possible. Javelins for all the lance users!

And then, on to the next map. I don't foresee this being a problem, this early it's more about building the characters for the next player. Or, you know, doing my best to fuck them over horribly if i wanted to go that way

If by "dangerous" you mean "full of nice juicy bags of experience points"...

Man i've forgotten what it's like to play Sacred Stones without crippling myself horribly on purpose. I mean i am still benching Seth so this isn't the most ideal setup possible but it's still something that looks like a normal party that i'd use in a normal playthrough! Fascinating.

That's a lot of health, but... not so much everything else.

I was going to have Colm chip so Neimi could kill, but apparently he's not content to loot chests but wants to steal exp as well.

It's fine, more than enough to go around.

This is the first map that's actually good for Vanessa. Finally, there are sword users! And not a million axe/bow guys to ruin her day! Amazing.

Franz is doing great.

Boom!

Artur's drawing the critters from the right.

Neimi got A Good Stat.

Ross got a kill but no level. How strange! Some kind of glitch perhaps?

For once, i'm actually picking up the axe with someone who can use it!

There, that puts Franz in range to

no it's fine, you have another shot-

FRANZ!

Fine, if you want something done right...!

Little iffy on this thing but i'm sure it's fine.

This is definitely fine. There are two sword guys by the village and Vanessa can quite easily take them even at level 1.

The eyeball went for Franz who made up for his earlier failure by dodging, killing, and getting a good level.

L'Arachel shows up and peaces out and we get reinforcements.

These guys are a bit tricksy because their sprites look like they have swords but in fact they have spears! Fortunately i just so happen to have some nice axe users nearby.

How is your speed stat as high as your strength even with a nerfed growth rate...?

Ross didn't finish the job, but we have Artur for that.

Some of the zombies are coming for us but plugging with Eirika is perfectly safe.

Colm and Neimi are handling the reinforcements. I guess Colm could theoretically die if all of them hit him but... they really, really should not.

Gotta say i'm not really feeling the increased difficulty a lot so far, this is Garcia doubling someone already!

The skeleton's low, Vanessa could easily kill it but i think Lute needs the exp more.

Thanks, i moisturize.

Lute's here, she's level 1, she's ok i guess. She dropped one point of res and 5% in both mag and res in translation (and i can understand wanting to nerf her original 70% mag growth a little!) but she's ludicrously tiny no matter which version you play.

Let's try to bulk her up a little!

It's mostly just clean-up at this point. Oh yeah, i didn't actually talk about Artur, did i...? He lost one point of both mag and spd in translation, 10% mag (down from 60%) and 5% res. He could be really good here.

Ross drew in the eyeball by the boss. He's in no danger whatsoever, doubled and left it at 1 hp, and now he's actually semi-respectable!

Almost there now.

Eh, bulk's fine.

Fed Lute the last zombie but it wasn't enough for a level.

Here's the boss, it's quite pathetic.

Makes for good chipping though.

Lute got the kill. You know what? I don't get to decide who comes on the next map but you are not making a good case for yourself.

We killed them all!

But they were only a warm-up. There will be more killing... but not by me. Our next contestant is going to be The Flying Twybil! Here is the save file, so have fun storming the... village. (It doesn't sound very impressive, but don't knock it, you may need some practice before moving on to castles.)
