Game 1: Ailell @ Plegia

When I saw that Ailell would be wearing my best attempt at Miami’s alt unis, I knew I wanted to share them.

And to their credit, Ailell started the game off strong:

But I realized something about the Flames. Something that made me understand why I haven’t really noticed them before, despite giving them some of the best uniforms in this game.

It’s almost like they don’t even exist. I realized it last week. Every other team gets mentioned in the news, even if it’s: “Real Morfis is historically awful and everyone is upset.” Ailell never gets talked about. When they win, the other team actually lost. When they lose, it’s to be expected.

And in their first game on this lp, Ailell is facing a Plegia team that finally has everyone working.

Owain in particular was transcendent: 34 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks, and 0 turnovers or fouls.

But everyone in Plegia played a huge role: Brady and Kjelle were back from an injury and 2 game suspension respectively, and Brady started the game strong:

Plegia started the game up 8, 16-24

Inigo would get the party started in the 2nd quarter:

And finally, finally, Lucina had the game that has eluded her all season:

It wasn’t Owain levels of good, but she had 12 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block, and 10 assists, all career highs for the struggling small forward.

Perhaps it was because everyone was playing well that Cynthia was so excited:

Plegia would increase their lead by halftime, 35-50.

Owain would continue his domination in the 3rd quarter:

This became his game, and nobody was going to stop the Scion of Dunkness from achieving his basketball greatness tonight.

The 3rd Quarter was pure domination, with a blowout already guaranteed. 49-74, Plegia lead.

Ailell in the 4th quarter would attempt to rally:

But their prayers to the basketball gods were, like everything else Ailell related, ignored.

Plegia put together their most complete game of the season, in which every member of the team contributed in a significantly positive way.

Plegia and their awfully rendered numbers (sorry, I thought I made the numbers smaller) blow out the Flames, 68-96.
