Game 2: Enbarr @ Nohr

Well, Edelgard was right.

You folks all voted to let Enbarr’s head coach go, and he was replaced with a man known as Lucas Lucas. I could go on a rant about how dumb it is that NBA2k doesn’t allow for custom female coaches (or any female coaches at all) when there are actual female coaches in the real NBA and WNBA. But I’m not going to.

Because holy moly, the Enbarr Eagles are ridiculous now.

These gifs will not really show the insane difference in Enbarr’s ball movement, efficiency, and the change of approach in terms of offense. Though watching Caspar try to be Klay Thompson will be funny:

Enbarr has completely changed overnight to a full “run and gun” offense, and they are...

They are monsters now.

They played Nohr in this game, but it really wasn’t about Nohr. Enbarr pulled out a 25-1 lead before Nohr would score their first basket from the field. Enbarr’s defense was always decent (8th in the league), but this past week, they ranked 3rd. In this game, they completely shut down the 3 seeded Glory in a way I haven’t seen in this video game.

And with all the 3’s and ball movement, Hubert Von Vestra actually had chances to rebound and play his position!

But the real change was in Petra MacNeary. She came into the game easily one the worst shooting guards in terms of PER (Player Efficiency Rating). Now, PER is a decent assessment of a player’s contributions, taking all of a player’s stats, weighing them by importance, and then dividing the sum total by minutes played. Petra’s PER pre new-coach was an astoundingly bad 8.32 (the league average is usually around a 15). In the last week, she has a PER of 20.4. I’ll try to make a PER table and explain more about it if people are interested, but just know that this coach has transformed Petra…

By not really changing anything she does. She still attacks the basket over shooting 3s, but Lucas Lucas has started pairing her with another shooter, either Bernie or Constance, and having Edelgard run the offense more.

So while Petra still had contested layups that won’t have much of a prayer against Rhea or Catherine:

She also got tons of looks she had never gotten under the previous coach:

And her transition offense is now covering a weak spot that Enbarr has shown all season:

Oh right, there’s a game going on: Well, the 1st quarter was a 31-11 beatdown, and Nohr never really got back into the game after that:

Camilla had her 11th double double, which surprised me, because Nohr is clearly built around Xander and Niles.

Oh, there’s Niles.

The 1st half would end with Constance hitting her 5th 3 of the game:

Enbarr would take the huge lead, 52-31.

The second half was a clinic from Ferdinand and Bernadetta, and I only took 1 gif of that whole half:

I feel bad for Nohr, because they are a very good team with some very impressive wins, including a win over Garreg Mach, Enbarr’s nemesis. But they were not prepared for the new Enbarr that showed up at their doorstep, and Enbarr is, finally, playing the way they were meant to play.

Enbarr wins, 109-77.
