Game 3

How do we follow up that game? Why, with the 2nd and 4th best defenses in the whole league beating each other up, of course!

Macedon and Gloucester sit comfortably in the standings, with Gloucester having the best December of any team not named “Garreg Mach Dragons”.

Three players in particular have stood out for the Gloucester Gentlemen’s Recreational and Athletics Club: Knack 3, Quark Handknuckle, and Reservoir Dougs.

But tonight’s game was finally about one man: Dewan Hernandez.

Well, actually, this game was about three players: Hernandez, Minerva, and Linde.

Minerva got the ball rolling, flinging up some garbage:

Hernandez would keep pace:

But it was clear there was a problem with Gloucester’s second ranked defense:

After this Linde 3, Reservoir Dougs would go to the locker room with an ankle injury. He would not return to the game.

Hernandez felt it, though, and kept pace.

The only other player to score for Gloucester in the 1st quarter was the backup power forward, Put Me In Coach!

He scored 4 points to Dewan’s 12, and both teams would leave the 1st quarter tied, 16-16.

Linde got the ball immediately in the 2nd quarter, putting Macedon up 6 in two possessions:

Knack 3’s backup, New Zealand, became a scoring option and helped prevent the lead from increasing:

And Hernandez kept pace.

But Linde started to control the game a little more in the 2nd quarter:

And Macedon would come out of the half up 8, 38-30.

Minerva took control of the early 3rd quarter:

A quick 6-0 run got the lead into double digits, before Quark Handknuckle scored his only points in the game:

In fact, these were the only points any of Gloucester’s big 3 would score all game. It was like, once Reservoir Dougs went down early, the other two seemed to give up a little bit.

The 3rd quarter ended with neither team gaining anything, 60-52.

Gloucester went to New Zealand and Hernandez for the final quarter, and they gave it a good run:

In the end, though, the disappearance of Handknuckle and Knack 3, along with the injury to Dougs, was too much to overcome.

Macedon would pull out a 74-69 victory in the Gloucester Recreational Center.
