Game 2: Morfis @ Fort Merceus
So, in NBA2k, they have a thing that determines how strong a team’s “Home Field Advantage” is. It’s not editable, it seems to not follow any rhyme or reason, and usually it’s very inaccurate.

With Fort Merceus however, it is not. It’s an A- home field advantage, which means the fans do not go home. They stay and they cheer.

It wasn’t a sold out crowd in The Fort, and Fort Merceus wasn’t playing a single starter after a tough doubleheader at Fhirdiad and Valla, but FortKnightGuy played like it was game 4 of the Finals:

He would score every point except for 2 for the team in the 1st quarter.

On the other end, the Cavaliers continued their insane run of blocks per game. (It’s now gone up from 8.2 blocks per game to 8.7, which is nearly 2 blocks higher than the top NBA team last year.)

Morfis, on the other hand, wouldn’t go away:

And it took a putback from Zwei to give Fort Merceus a 4 point lead going into the 2nd:

Fort Merceus leads, 10-14.

Morfis would start the 2nd quarter strong with a huge dunk:

And while they would keep up with Fort Merceus, the real story was the insane defense being played by the Cavs:

And while their offense struggled to get going, Max Well finally got an open 3 and nailed it:

Followed by a huge dunk by Eins:

Fort Merceus would go up 7 at halftime, 26-33.

Fort Merceus would start the second half strong, pulling out a 6-0 run on the back of shooting guard Funf:

And some good rebounding by the team as a whole:

Finally topped off by this dunk:

Look at those folks celebrating!

However, in the next 5 minutes, several mistakes would cut into that lead:

4 different shooting fouls against the Cavs would bring Morfis within 3, and after a huge flush by Eins:

Morfis would end the quarter with this:

Morfis had cut the lead to 2, 45-47.

The 4th quarter was completely reliant on defense. 5 minutes in, with the score at 49-51, Morfis would airball a 3 pointer:

FortKnightGuy would take this opportunity to reiterate his statement in the 1st quarter:

Fort Merceus would expand the lead to 8 on the back of FKG, but Morfis would crawl back:

There it was, 6.7 seconds left, and Morfis was only down 59-62. A quick steal would give them 4.3 seconds to try to force overtime. The crowd was perhaps the loudest I’ve seen in this game so far, and it lead to this:

Fort Merceus’s B-Team survives Real Morfis, 59-62.
