Game 3: Rhodos Coast @ Sreng BC

We’ve had too many close games, how about we go see how Sreng is doing in the 4th spot in the North?

Sreng has been dealing with some critical injuries, notably to Nanami Kiryuu and Beverly Switzler, but they have adjusted rather well, moving parts around frequently and having different rotations in almost every game.

The only exception is Dr. Hans Zarkov, who seems to get the starting nod at Small Forward all the time. Tonight’s matchup against Rhodos Coast is: Jake Sisko, Sango, Zarkov, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Ritz Mahleur.

Admittedly, starting a new lineup every game might give your team some cohesion issues.

Oh… nevermind.

The game stayed pretty close, as Sreng struggled on defense with the new lineups, but they also had to struggle with something else.

In the older 2k games, there was a thing where the AI would chuck up terrible shots at the shot clock buzzer and hit them. It happened all the time, but it hasn’t been a thing I’ve noticed in this iteration.

Until this game.

Rhodos Coast scored like 7 baskets just like this. It was asinine.

Sreng kept pace:

And at the end of the 1st, they would hold a 23-26 lead.

Oh hey look, it’s the start of the 2nd and Rhodos Coast is hitting 3s!

And Ritz is sending basketballs to the moon!

The game felt very free form. There was decent enough defense, but a lot of sloppy play as well.

This passing display was a nice thing to see, though.

But by freeform I mean a lot of possessions were:
-Team takes it up the court
-Team takes shot with little to no ball movement

It’s entertaining basketball in it’s own way, but oftentimes it’s a very risky proposition when shots stop falling.

We got some ball movement near the end of the half, with Sango nailing a huge 3 to keep 7.

Sreng would go into halftime up 43-50.

The 3rd Quarter would start off strong for Sreng as well, with a block by Ritz Mahleur turning into a nice highlight for Jake Sisko:

Off of another turnover, Zarkov would show some wonderful fundamentals:

And Sango continued her dominance of the defense:

Sreng would dominate the 3rd quarter, leading 55-72.

The 4th quarter would continue in much of the same way, with Sreng now dominating on defense as well:

Rhodos Coast would make an attempt at a comeback, starting with this jumper:

But Sreng would control the clock for the rest of the quarter, cruising to an easy win.

Sreng dominates, 80-95.
