Level 1.5.mp3

So throughout this quest, the overworld was designed by Russ, and the dungeons were designed by Moosh. This rule is getting broken now; Russ made this roof floor.

Let's head left first.

Immediately we're confronted by a tight wind platforming section with moving winds.

This is going to be a pattern.

It takes me 8 tries to cross this gap. I know because falling into a pit with Xaya costs me 1 heart and I've lost over half my health on this screen.

Thankfully we never have to do it again.

We have two new enemies here: Moblins that shoot triple arrow shots, and Goriyas that snipe you with near-undodgeable angled boomerang shots aimed directly at you at high speeds, with next to no tell (besides a chance it might fire when aligned with the 16x16 grid ZC is built on) for when it'll fire. The latter is a ZC engine default, a "new" enemy introduced before the enemy editor was even a thing.

The old ZC devs were only capable of adding hatred to their game making engine, and this is one of their creations. It's not a good enemy.

Turns out you can blow out some of these torches! Not all of them though, and it triggers nothing. I remember this formation (read: I screenshot it and put it aside) for later.

One of the goriyas is trapped behind a tree. This is actually bad, because now they're always aligned with the 16x16 grid, so whatever tell you did have for them firing is gone now. Sucks to be Xaya with no shield at this point.

There's the boss door. Can't reach it without unlocking that block though.

Moving platform with spikes in the wind. This is completely safe.

Rip.

Confirmed Deaths: 36

We finally get across.

Only to find this annoying puzzle. These winds are tight at hell, and the bottom one moves left and right. You can only access the top from the bottom left when the bottom wind aligns, and it's super precise.

Confirmed Deaths: 37

Finally. Glad to be done with that obnoxious platforming.

We've done all we can on the left side, so let's head right.

Well this seems nic-

Welp.

That spike trap has a delay before it starts moving that's exactly the amount of time it takes for you to go "well, this screen is safe", walk over to the right, and be in it's path. Russ has a very rude sense of humor.

This looks familiar...

Aha! A mirror image.

There's a barrier blocking us from reaching the key block though. We need to take a detour.

Lotsa spike traps.

Spike trap conga!

Well this is nostalgic. We got a boss key in a room similar to this once.

It's not as bad though.

The cloud on the left hides those spike traps. Rude.

And there's the barrier gone.

Confirmed Deaths: 38

And there's that. We have access to the boss door now! But where's the boss key?

Well...

This is still part of level 1. We have everything already from level 1.

Unlocking it reveals... a staircase? Sure, why not.

Wait...

: I see. Your cruelty runs this deep. But hear me Creators.

Postgame Boss 1.mp3

I guess we're fighting... Finnigan? This is surreal.

He can dash at us like so.

He can also throw bombs at us, which explode on impact with the ground.

Uhhh... Is that the Ice Kunai?

Oh caress!

He can teleport above us with it? How can he teleport with no Kunai panels? Unfair!

It seems he has access to our entire arsenal.

What the hell.

Homing wind as well. Cripes.

Ranged seems like the best option here, so...

Kunai is our friend!

What.

He has Moosh tech!? We lost that! How come we don't have Mooshtech!?

Dealing enough damage is enough to dispel it, similar to how it worked for us.

But he can just recast it whenever he wants.

Why is he flipping out in plac-

Jesus christ he has flap tech!

Run for the hills!

Shielding himself from danger now, it seems.

This isn't looking good for us...

Confirmed Deaths: 39

Finnigan isn't doing good against his mirror match. Let's bring out the big guns.

At first I thought about Kunai...

But then I realized I could bring out double damage Light Arrows, the real big guns.

20 seconds in and he's already using tech. We're doing really good.

Even without stamina for Light Arrows, Xaya is fast enough to rush in and get potshots with her absurdly strong sword. She's a monster boss killer.

Lay off the gummy bears, Finnigan.

They do horrors to your insides.

Barely a minute in and...

(music stops)

He goes down quick.

: Just calm down and talk to us.
: You mean... you're not send from the Creators?
: No, we came here because of you. I'm Finnigan, and this is Xaya. Who are you?
: But that's impossible. My name is Finnigan.
: What?
: Just call me Finn.
: But I don't understand. I'm Finnigan. How can you be me?
: The rip! Remember, my father said that it was a hole in reality. What if Finn came through a rip?
: I guess that makes sense.
: But... where's the other me?
: That's why I'm here...

(Screen waves out)

Final Confrontation.mp3

: No! We are a god! We refuse to lose to our puppets!
: It's over! Moosh, Akuma, your reign of bloodshed ends here!
: No! We shall not die here! We shall survive! The cycle will continue!
: Not if I have anything to say about it!

: Xaya, what are you doing?

Hopeless.mp3

: I'm going to stay behind and put an end to this once and for all.
: Xaya!
: Finn, run, get out of here!
: No! I'm not going to leave here without you!
: Please Finn. Fendora still needs you. If anything else happens, you're the only one strong enough to do anything. You have to live! And please... tell my father I love him.
: Xaya... I can't leave you here...
: But you have to Finn. It's the only way.
: I know, but... I love you Xaya.
: I know. You were always terrible at hiding it. I was waiting for you to tell me.
: You... You were?
: Finn, please. Just do one more thing for me. Survive. Run from here, tell everyone what has happened.
: Be Fendora's hero. Please, promise me you'll live!
: Xaya... I promise.

: ...understand this. And now, that will be your undoing.

(music stops)

: Now you see though. This is why I need to go to the Creator's Realm. The Creators are the ones who made this happen. They could have saved her! But they didn't. So I'm going to find them, and make them bring her back.
: Finn, I can't imagine what that's like for you. If I had lost Finnigan... but you can't do this.
: What do you mean I can't?
: Your actions have already opened up multiple rifts. If you keep going with this-
: What she's trying to say is we're going to help you.
: What? Finnigan!
: Xaya, I know it's dangerous. But if that had happened to me, I know I'd do anything to bring you back.
: I don't care what the risks are. We have to do this.

Determination.mp3

: ...this could destroy the world. Both of our worlds.
: But we'll do it anyway, because we don't have any other choice.
: Even if it means taking on our own Creators, we'll do this.
: We're going to rewrite history. We'll spit in the face of fate and bring back the other Xaya.
: We have to storm the Creator's Realm and beat our makers at their own game. Let's do this.

...I guess we're going to risk the world for parallel Xaya.

Let's do this then.
