La natura dell'aurora, or The Nature of the Aurora, is almost certainly refering to the Northern Lights. This one doesn't reference a specific painting (directly, or otherwise) but any artistic merit of Aurora Borealis is pretty apparent.

Like normal, any real connection to the content of the episode is tenuous at best.

FORT

I got the victim's info from the police database.

Lives with her parents & a brother, no problems there.
Her parents are exporters, apparently pretty rich.
She may have seen the Silent Infectee yesterday.
Check her memory when you go to school today, OK?

They'll help you prepare to get inside tonight.
I'll contact you when they're ready.

I see we're completely overwhelmed with all of the possible choices here. Too many to decide from!

Ticktack

"Hm, it's hard to tell. He didn't seem enthusiastic."

Mika & Rui are discussing something, looking serious. Then, Rui notices Atsuki and calls to him.

"Hey, Saijo!"

But you get to sit between us two beautiful ladies!
I want to ask you something.

What's wrong, Saijo?

Back to this, I see. Hardly ever came up yesterday, but today it's all over. It might be quicker to count scenes it's not in, honestly.

Talk

I can't tell you about our private matters.
Haha, what's that about?
Saijo wouldn't ask about stuff like that.
Oh, really? OK then, what do you wanna' ask?

Talk (2)

What?? Something naughty?
Huh? Is that for real?
Hehe, that's what I wanted!

Not even a little bit.

Mika!!!
Come on, Saijo! Answer quickly!

Rather surprisingly, Stabber gives us absolutely nothing of value. We're after info on Sayuri right now, and Mika (at least) should know something.

Mika, you know her?
I know her. I know about every student in school.
Wait a second.

Mika takes a portable PC from her pocket and starts looking something up.

...This is why I used the Talk option twice, yes. Literally already made that "joke"!

"Likes computers, drawing comics and birds," it says.
She likes birds as pets, not for eating.
That's obvious, but why do you know so much?
Gathering information is fundamental for a reporter.
Yesterday she went to Area 3.
probably to shop at Pumpkin Witch.
Really? Just how do you know so much?!

No! Yesterday I saw her in Area 3 while I was working.
She likes computers and comics, so...
I assumed she was probably going to Pumpkin Witch.
Hm, I see. That's OK then.

Think I know where we're going next!

I get it. Saijo like dubious-type girls, huh?
Why "dubious"? Don't you mean "studious"?
If you wanna be a reporter you'd better study English!

Who knows, maybe...?
OK Saijo, we're gonna go back to the classroom.
Try your best!

Bucolica

Before we get back to the map, we're interrupted by another scene!

Ryo Unami can be seen yawning while walking down the hall.

I'm jealous of people who work well in the morning.
Me, I don't even want morning to come, you know?
Nighttime is much better for reading & thinking.
I hate stopping in the middle of a book.
I really hate the morning.

"That's no good!"

Aoi Matsumura comes from down the hall.

So if you damage yourself doing it, it's pointless.
I can't let that happen.
My health... You're right. Sorry for the rash opinion.
Next time I'll be sure to go to bed earlier.
I'm glad you understand.

Oh, I totally forgot!
How was he? Has he gotten better yet?
No... he still looked bad...
I can't really say he's all the way back yet...
Oh... I see.

Thank you very much.
OK, I have to go now.

I'm sure he'll get better and come back soon.
Then you should have him teach you art, Saijo.
I'm sure you'll love it. Hehe, see you!

While I'm sure it'd be nice to have the Art Teacher back to do his job, I don't think I'd need to go out of my way to have him do it at that point.

Fortunately, Sayuri is still in the PC Room. That diversion didn't affect anything, whew.

Sunny Spot

Sayuri Makino can be seen inside.

Atsuki calls to Sayuri, and she turns around.

With a strange expression, she moves toward Atsuki.

For once, we're gonna skip using the Talk option. Not because it's detrimental, but for a far worse reason: it's boring.

Same with asking her about herself. Instead, we'll just do the plot thing and see what she has to say about her attacker.

Whisper

A ripple runs though Sayuri's mind.

We get to use Sigma on Sayuri here. There's two Shinen to pick up; the one relevant to the attack moves faster and is marginally more resilient than we're used to.

There's also this other... weirder... one.

We'll start with this one because it's, y'know, relevant.

Horns of Dark

For all the problems the early game pacing had, once the plot started in earnest, it really hits the ground running. Goddamn.

...Okay, but what the heck is this?

Mirage

That didn't answer anything! I'm just more confused!

Sunny Spot

But I'm a victim! I want to forget all about it!

With that, Sayuri makes an angry face and leaves the PC Room.

Malum

Oh class time! Alright then.

Huh? Where is Shinji?

Truancy eh? That little...
Fine. So be it. I think we'll have a test today.
No need to tell Shinji!

...No, this isn't a mistake on my end. This is the game putting up a blank text box. Either it got added by accident, or it just forgot to get filled.

So! Turn to page 75!

Ah, good, that just instantly ends the class. I'm cool with that. Of the four places we can go now, the Quad or Nurse's Office are the best starting points. We'll visit Yayoi first, I reckon.

Mystic

Why not? We're on lunch break right now.
The teacher'll get angry...

Nami glances at Atsuki and smiles.

Everyone's playing around, I just like being outside.
Saijo, could you please tell her?
Nami... Everytime she gets on lunch break...
She always leaves school and walks around...

There are literally two resposes here that are positive. Siding with Yayoi, even indirectly, is the wrong response here. Nothing gives you any change to Yayoi, but Laugh and Happiness are the only two that are positive to Nami.

Ehehe, yeah, huh.
Play during lunch break, and study during class.
I can get better test scores that way!
Yay! Atsuki understands me!
She's so troublesome...

Hey, Nami!
Whoever it is, it's rude to call someone a "weirdo"!
But he WAS a weirdo!

Sounds like Enokida to me?

I ignored him, and he came closer to me.
Melody got angry & jumped on him.
Then he ran away, but Melody told me...

...Okay! Probably not Enokida!

...a blade? Is that true?
Yeah, it is.

...OK, be careful.

"Let's go, Melody!"

...blade. A blade?!
H- hey, wait!!

Yayoi quickly runs after Nami and Melody.

Probably a good idea to make sure they make it there safely at that point.

We're stuck here, though, so we'll go visit... Yui...? What's she doing here?

Kisaragi

"To confirm, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with Sayuri Makino?"

"This morning, I gave her a simple examination but she seems to be fine."

Even though you can't see it, it may still be there.
...you're right. I see.
I didn't come here to ask her about anything.
I was worried that she may have been hurt yesterday.
So cops are actually kind. I see you differently now!

This game was released in 2008. And yet Honoka's point here still remains just as true now, 13 years later.

As Yui Yamase leaves, she looks at Atsuki and smiles as she leaves.

That cop said so.
Did anything strange happen?

Atsuki tells her that nothing happened.

I see. I'd be worried if something had.
You know what happened at the Post Office, right?
Teachers shouldn't tell you what to do after school,
but be careful, OK?
You probably don't know...

Well, I don't think it'll ever happen again, but...
OK, be on time for class.

Can do the Teacher's Room or Classroom in any order now. The reason for doing these after the Nurse's Office is pretty simple, I think.

Sunny Spot

Yamato sees Atsuki, awkwardly folds the paper and approaches him with fierce eyes.

I suppose you have a reason to come in here, Saijo?

After we helped Yamato, s-sorta, before so this is him at his normal baseline. Yep. Remember that.

Talk

What is it? You need something?
Alright, I'm listening. Spit it out.

Hmm... I wonder...

quote:

Talk (2)

Didn't I tell you, you only get one chance?
Ignoring that was YOUR fault, boy.
Now, get the hell out.

Yeah, he kicks up out if we Talk again. Well that's the only way that "one chance" thing applies at least.

Since we learned about this from Honoka, we can ask around about it too. Maybe Yamato knows something?

Yeah, I know about it.
It happened in this town so of course I know about it.
Why you interested in that sick event?

Look, class is starting.
Don't mess with me, boy. I don't have time to waste.
Get to class and read a book or somethin'.

Info > Sayuri Makino

What's she got to do with you?

From you? The evil elf-man with a corn... er, scale tie? I'll pass, thanks.

You're only 17, but you're chasin' skirts...
That how your mother raised you, huh?
You wanna' die, boy? Go back to class you little perv!

Info > Stabber

Well, let's suppose that incident really did happen.
How'd you know about it? It's not in the paper.

Heh, if the cops ask, I'll just say it like that.
Alright, criminal. You'd better hurry up to class.

Yeah, yeah, fork you too buddy. Even normally, Yamato is a massive jerk. Go figure.

That just leaves Takano in the classroom. Not expecting much, but who knows.

Malum

I have a class.. What's up?

I was really not kidding about this. It's almost every scene.

Talk

What's that? Need something from me?
C'mon, tell me! I love giving advice!
Whatever it is, let's hear it!

Talk (2)

Come for some advice?
Oh, I see. You want to hear about my theory?
No sweat! My pleasure! Where should I start?

Info > Stabber

Are you telling me that really happened?
I often walk around at night doing experiments...
I'll have to be careful.
Thanks for the warning. I'll be more careful.

Info > Last Year's Incident

It was 1 year ago. I don't like thinking about it.
Walking around alone at night isn't safe.
I've heard that some of our students have been hurt...

I'm surprised you've heard.
You into criminology?
If so, next time I'll tell you something interesting.

Ah, I see Takano subscribes to the actual theory of "lunacy". A theory so outdated that it seemingly started to get debunked in the early 18th century.

Come by if you have time.

Info > Sayuri Makino

Sayuri Makino... What about her?

Atsuki tells him he was just asking.

Hm... Is that so?
I have to get ready for class. See you later.

Malum

Sure enough, our teacher for the second interstitial class section IS Takano. How 'bout that!

Today we were to cover the Crusades of Medieval Europe
Let's go further back, ok?
Did you know Yung proposed graduating classes?

I have no idea who, or what, this is referring to. I presume it means a class-structure for society, and not education, but hell if I can find anything meaningful from it.

Especially since it's in this scene, which rapidly degrades...

To those who say their's no relation, there is.
The world is full of these same relationships.

Not sure why this one gets a different transition, but it did. I think I should've left searching for consistency at the door, honestly.

My first thought here was that this is referring to the Hungarian novelist, Arthur Koestler. In particular his book "Promise and Fulfilment" which is about Palestine from 1917 to 1949 (the year it was published).

...It... It definitely is not referring to that.

The metaphysical exists, but is hard to realize.

I have NO idea what the hell this is on about. This is supposed to be History class, not... whatever the hell this has become.

Oh, it's time already?
Well, that's all for today.

We are in fact so done with school for today, that we get to leave a bit early. No more school scenes today!

Just a lot in town instead. At least we have a date with Akira to look forward to!
